Roy, when I say we, i dont necessarily mean you; Im talking more or less about everyone who has a part in the contest (not participants) and who help make it happen, me to a lesser extent as im only the lead judge. And theres only been 5 contests, if youve entered 3 times, your pretty much a regular.

Hurray, I won again... Against Marth, Luigie, and Ian... hurray?

By the way the "group" part of my info is "members," because I am a member of this link, not because I am a member of xbc...

Okay guys, we did it, we had another 1hbc, but that only completes 1 part of the back-to-back 1hbc memorial day weekend!

Here's the results [ Judging by Marth and Monkey.CoM ]

Mp)101badboy01 2/10 -
We gave him a 2/10 out of pity, the map was not nearly finished enough to attain a good score, and the obstacle that was completed was buggy.

Mp)Mental 4/10 -
Mental was given a 4/10 because his map was extremely buggy. He came up with 4 obstacles, 3 of which were in dire need of repair.

Muta-Lisk 7/10 -
Well, it was a fairly well made, fun map. The obstacles were enjoyable enough to make up for the lack of a storyline, good job.

Happybikini.CoM 7/10 -
What he lacked in the obstacle area he made up for with a halfway decent storyline. You had to run through his map and whoever found the correct store(cheese) won. We give this map a 7/10.

See you guys tomorrow.

Alright, the first 1HBC of the newly assembled xBc has occurred today. The theme? Pokemon.

First Place: Happybikini.CoM - 18 points
Yes, it's true! The one that everyone thought would win did so. Happy is awarded a tin bucket for placing first with his clever idea of making a Pokemon-themed version of Combat bound, except that unlike Combat Bound, it didn't suck.

Second Place: Midna - 15 points
A simple and yet inspirational map of which you had directional gravity as you tried to bound. Only two levels were completed, but the concept was clever enough to award Midna the second place toilet trophy.

Third Place: Roy - 14 points
Oh damn, it's me! tongue.gif A not-so clever idea but a unique idea nonetheless. You catch a Goldeen and rename it. What do you rename it as? Marth! This map placed third due to its humor, and the completion of five functional obstacles. Third place of this tournament is awarded the trash can.

4th: WiL (New to the competition) - 11 points
5th: The.Demon (New to mapmaking in general) - 7 points
6th: Marth - 5 points
7th: Arbiter - 4 points

And the 1HBC is back yet again! This time hosted by me. However, this was a Promo edition; it was not the true thing, plus there were only 2 contestants. Nevertheless, it was an 1HBC, so here are the results for 4/25/08:

THEME: NES Games
TILESET: Badlands

Judges: Valor-B[c], Adzzman_(Joined in too late to compete, stayed in as judge)

Contestants: AngryRolyPoly, My_dog_can_moo

1st: My_dog_can_moo, with an averaged score of 17.5/25! His bound lacked a bit in functionality but excelled in originality and theme presence. One ob didnt kill and the idea of elimination didnt quite work right, but it was still enough to give moo the victory.

2nd: AngryRolyPoly, with an averaged score of 16.25/25! His bound worked well minus a small kill unit glitch on the 2nd ob. His picture was a little lacking in more detail, being simply a logo at the top, but it was nice how his ob tiles matched the colors of the image. He is commendated for his efforts, and earns a 2nd place finish, even though there was only 2 contestants. 2nd is never a bad spot to be in in my book, unless either 2nd or worse dies or theres only 1 contestant. smile.gif

The true 1HBC contest will be Saturday, 04/26/08 at a time not yet specified. Keep your browsers on the xBc forums for more details as they are released(or leaked if someones an asshole).

Whether I'm a judge or not I should definitely do some more reviews if I'm there for the competition.

As for tomorrow night's competition, I will probably be there. Reserve a judge seat tongue.gif

1HDC!

The Dash knockoff competition.

Competitors:

adzzman_
Happybikini.CoM
Marth
O)Spirit

Judges:

Roy
Valor

Standings:

1st Place
: Happybikini.CoM (87/100)

An impressive take on the vague concept of this competition. His map had the clever name of "Untitled Scenario." Having an observer circle a large area, players are forced to maneuver through explosions, killing ghosts to change the pattern and advance forward. He even bothered to design the minimap, despite the fact that you don't have a chance to appreciate it. While points were deducted because he had to remake with a difficulty change, he still captured first place.

2nd Place: Marth (72/100)

Possibly the one that most reflected a Dash map, Marth put in his own unique twists into the game. He got automatic bonus points for naming the map "M * A * S * H." I'm assuming this was an unintended mishap, but when a zergling ran into anything, both the zergling and the other unit exploded, giving the game a bit of humor. Also having an interesting unit spawn pattern and throwing in a sucking trap gave Marth most of his points. He was late to finish and was deducted points which gives him a score of 72.

3rd Place: O)Spirit (69/100)

The name of Fox's map was "Dash AZN." A well-crafted row that you run through, and then backtrack through a new pattern. It had no noticeable bugs, submitted on time and was a good difficulty, which is impressive considering that these competitions don't allow for much testing. The map was rather short and simple, which is why even though it was well-made, it placed 3rd.

Well, I hope you guys are done mocking one of my map themes tongue.gif Congratulations to the three winners.
In Super Mario terms:

Happy is Mario
Marth is Luigi
Fox is Toad

... Adzz is Goomba #4.
