Jē Fic Recs

I also love Toy Soldiers. One of the first movies I watched when we first got satellite, and I could watch HBO. I'm going to rent it soon and revisit it, now that I read this story.

I have to date myself here by admitting that I saw Toy Soldiers when it came out in theaters (yes, am that old!). I went because at the time I still had a crush on Sean Astin.

This fic reminded me of how much I loved that movie (and Jerry Orbach in it!).

I'm reading this one right now. I've never loved to hate a fic so much in my life! I've never wanted to personally kill a character like I do with Jared's manager. What a dick! I'm only on chapter 5, and I seriously hope things get massively better for Jared or my head's gonna explode.

Our love will catch like Fire by build-the-moon is a long (you may notice I've linked you to the masterpost page) CollegeAU where our boys meet and fall in love. Pretty much all of the surrounding people (Chad, Misha, Sandy, Genevieve, Tom, Mike, even Milo, etc.) have at least bit parts in it as well.

It's NC-17, long, lovely and it's a great read. Also, the artwork was done by Megan who did our lovely site banner up there! And it was betaed by former board member Brittney.

I have two more recs tonight:
Porn to love you by Vamphile. It's R (ish), and total crack! And let me tell you, it's, um, let's just say "explicit". I was blushing by the time I finished it and there was no one else around!

4 Times Jared wasn't the most childish person in the room by atimi. It's rated PG but is so cute and funny. I particularly loved the first and last ones. Total "awww" moment at the end.

Jensen is a bus driver and Jared works at a zoo and it is so full of the warm!fuzzies you'll just about melt! (it's also NC-17 hot as well.)

Break out the kleenex! It's angst time. I discovered this story on Thursday, and have been reading on it until this morning when I finished it. It's called:

Just One Breath (Just in Case There's Just One Left)
Summary: Following a horrific event during filming, Jensen’s life hangs in the balance and Jared discovers what is truly important.
Spoilers: Takes place post-strike, late Season Three. Episode spoilers through 4.1

It's hurt/comfort of the highest caliber, and really good. There wasn't a chapter where I wasn't crying, either out of dispair or happiness. Plus, Chad Michael Murray is a dick in his scenes, and I know how some of you like when he's not a good guy.

You weren't friggin' kidding! Total sobfest! It was a great story though but yeah, should come with a hankie warning.

I got a sweet big bang rec for you. It's called Little Bit of Inertia, Little Bit of Momentum, and juice817 wrote it. I've never read any of her fics before, but I love her podcasts, so I gave this story a try, even though it's an AU. It's really sweet and fluffy and also hot.

Here's her summary:
Jensen has been avoiding his former best friend Jared for nearly ten years, but with their moms being best friends too, it couldn't last forever. When Jensen is roped into a summer in the woods, he learns that things were maybe not what he'd thought way back when. And that maybe you really can go home again.

I did something wrong
by piratessa may have what even the author calls "a lame title" and a PG-13 rating but it's very cute and fairly schmoopy (read: a lot!). It's also got Chris/Steve in there as well but it's a lovely fic.

It's supposed to be part of a bigger 'verse but I think it stand perfectly as a standalone.

Sweet Home Texas

Summary: Jared has everything he could ever want in his life, great job and he's getting married to the woman of his dreams, there is just one problem. His husband back in Texas.

It's based on the film Sweet Home Alabama, and it follows the story quite closely. If you've seen the movie, then you know how it'll go. (I still enjoyed it because it's one of my favorite rom-coms.)

All I'm saying is it takes place in the moments before Jensen's wedding. SPOILER: I don't know if I should even be reccing this here because Jared and Jensen don't end up together in the end. If not, I'm sorry.
