I noticed there wasn't a place to talk about this awesome show. I figured it would go great here, since Jared was in most of the series. I've talked about it in other threads around, but there isn't a GG thread. (Nicky, if you want, you can move this somewhere else. That is, if it doesn't fit in.)

eeeeee! Shane! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Great idea!
I need a place (rather than just PMs with Teri! ;) LOL) to ramble about this lovely show! Even though I've seen most of the first 5 seasons I still have yet to figure out what are my favorite episodes in each season. Especially since I just rewatch every single episode whenever I get in the mood to watch the show. However, I do know which episodes I can't stand. *grins* |

You're welcome, Moria. I really love Gilmore Girls. I watched them regurally when they were coming on at first. I loved the relationship between Rory and Dean. And when Jared left to do SPN, I stopped watching the show. It wasn't until I was so sick, I didn't want to get out of bed (Long story, you guys don't want to hear it.) that I discovered the ABC Family reruns, and I started watching those. I found those right as the pilot aired, and now I'm in season 4, with the first 2 seasons on DVD making their way to my mailbox. I love the fast dialogue and the numerous pop culture references. Plus, Lauren Graham is pretty hot.
What are yours? Mine is "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?". This post has been edited by shaneo6930 on Mar 11 2009, 03:27 AM |

Agreed, Shane! Yeah, I ended up getting the first season on DVD as a gift from my cousins for Christmas. And then I got the 2nd season on a spur of the moment thing and then realized, despite my denial, that I really loved this show. I didn't think I needed another DVD set, (I have a CRAPLOAD!!) but this series is so worth it! Now I've finally gotten the 3rd & 4th seasons on DVD, and will hopefully be getting the 5th season for my birthday. I also love Rory/Dean. They're adorable. And Lorelai/Luke too. And yes, I hate Jess. With a passion.
Exactly one of the ones I was thinking of, Shane! :D And "Here Comes The Son" because of Jess. I'm sure there are some others, but I can't think of anymore at the moment. |

Yay for a Gilmore Girls thread!
When the show was doing it's first run on tv (back when the CW was the WB) I wanted to watch it but we didn't get the WB where I lived. By the time we did it was somewhere around the 4th season, I think. Now I am one of those people who, when they get into a show, want to know what happened from the beginning and have to see it from the beginning. I held off getting the DVDs though cause...well, I really don't remember. Then one day I found Season 1 on sale and bought it and just totally fell in love with this show. (that aws around the time season 7 was airing on tv, I think.) I remember going on IMDb, on Jared's board and asking about it and basically being told that when Jared left the show in Season 5 the show had a marked decline in quality (which, from what I can tell? Is true!). So I own Seasons 1-5 and do not own or have watched 6 or 7. Sometimes my completist tendencies make me want to go out and buy them (especially so I know how the series ends--well, I sorta know some things) but I've not yet given in. Oh and Rory/Dean are one of the few het couples I ship (though frankly I think Dean has better chemistry with Lorelai. Seriously, if I see a Lorelai/Dean fic? I grab onto it!). I do like Lorelai/Luke as well (much more than Lorelai/Christopher). Also, can't stand Jess and REALLY can't stand Logan. I totally shipped Luke and Lorelai. (And this is back before I knew what shipping meant.) But never thought about Lorelai/Dean. *Rushes off to ff.net to find fics.* Now that I've gotten back into the show, I think I'll watch the whole thing just to find out how it ends. And don't get me started on my hatred for Jess. I hate that dude. Which is why Keg! Max! from season 3 is one of my favorite episodes because he gets his ass kicked. And by Dean. :D This post has been edited by shaneo6930 on Mar 11 2009, 02:10 PM |

You won't regret it, Shane! Lorelai/Dean is hot! Between Teri and me I'm sure we can get you some more to read if you're interested! :)
I could go on forever about my hatred for Jess 'cause I really wasn't kidding when I said I hate the kid with a passion. And I was also just telling Teri last night that Keg!Max! (being one of her favorite episodes) is now officially one of mine too. Yay for Dean kicking Jess's ass! *big grin* Oh, and how far are you into the 4th season, Shane? Are you liking what you've seen? I just started rewatching it myself (finally got the S4 DVDs!). It's one of the seasons (aside from the 1st) I'm most familiar with, having seen it on ABC family. |

The pickings on ff.net were quite slim for Lorelai/Dean. I am quite interested in reading some, though.
I just watched the one where Lorelai and Sookie were hired by Emily to cater a big party, but then the party was cancelled. "You quiched my room!" I'm liking season 4 so far. I've seen most of them through the original airings, but some of these, I'd missed. I just have to ask this. Am I alone in my Paris love? She has got to be my favorite of Rory's classmates both at Chilton and at Yale. |

So, so far you (Shane), Moria and I all hate Jess. Interesting. But I've got to tell you that as much as I dislike Jess I really hate Logan (I just PMed Moria with a rant about him) even more.
He's Rory's boyfriend in Season 5.
Also, it's interesting that you just finished An Affair to Remember (the catering one), because on ABC family today they ran the very next episode The Festival of Living Art! Great eps to look forward to: The Incredible Sinking Lorelais, and Girls in Bikini's, Boys doing the Twist (both Season 4 faves of mine!).
What she said!
Double Yay!
I've got a few saved, I'll see if I can dig up some links for you.
Paris is...the type of character you love to hate, IMO. I like Paris because she's so much fun (see the aforementioned Girls in Bikini's, boys doing the Twist for great Paris stuff!) and is so annoying! |

Shane, what Teri said! LOL For me personally the majority of the citizens of Stars Hollow are great, and so much fun to watch. But my faves are Taylor and Kirk. And when either of them get caught up with annoying Luke in any way?? Definitely some of my favorite non-Rory/Dean moments are when those 3 are involved. I love Kirk. And yeah the Kirk&Luke scenes are some of the best stuff! I also love Jackson. He and Sookie are just so cute together! Anyone else just love the town meetings? Those are hilarious! |

YES! Love the town meetings! Glad you brought that up, Teri. And once again I'm reminded why this would be an excellent show to watch with my grandma. Note to self: Tell her about this TOMORROW!!!
But anywho, one of my fave town meetings definitely has to be the one where the town troubador is upset 'cause another guy is taking over his turf in a way, and then Rory stands up to defend the guy, but in reality making her speech about how she and Dean should get back together. |

These are also some of my favorite scenes in the show. I forget when it was, but there was this one Taylor/Luke scene that made me laugh until I cried. It involved Luke saying something like "Taylor, no. I will say that now until the day I die. Taylor, no! And when I do die, I'm gonna have myself frozen next to Ted Williams, and when they find the cure to what I died from, and they thaw me, my first words are going to be 'how's Ted?" followed closely by 'Taylor no!'" The town meetings are the best. One of them inspired my favorite Lorelai quote. Taylor: Lorelai, you're late. Lorelai: Really? I hope I'm not pregnant. I actually quoted this at the video store one day when I returned a movie late. I wasn't trying to get the charge cleared off the bill, but the clerk did because apparently, she was also a Gilmore fan.
I watched An Affair to Remember at 11:00am on ABC Family, and then watched the 5:00pm airing of The Festival of Living Art. At least she didn't flinch. |

*giggles* I know exactly which one you're talking about, Shane! But like you I can't remember the episode title. :P That scene just cracks me up! |

But so far, what I've seen of the series (I'm really only lacking season 6 and 7, give or take a few episodes of season 5) my favorite quote has to be Rory's admission of her love of Dean. "Becuase I love you, you idiot!" On Cafe' Press, I found a bumper sticker that says that. I'm definately buying it. Along with one that says "Oy, with the poodles already."
