J² Fic Recs

I wanted to start a thread for J² fanfiction and videos. I'm sort of a new fan to this because I don't usually read RPS in general.

HOWEVER!! LOL The Jensen/Jared pairing has drawn me into this fandom (big surprise) I'm still not completely sold on them, because I have read like 4 J² fics comparaed to the 500 Wincest fics I've read, but I'm coming around!

I just wanted a spot where anyone could post their favorite Jensen/Jared fics or videos and I didn't see one as I looked on this board.

Great fic...if you haven't read it, you must!!!! It's actually somwhat AU.....Jared is still an actor, but he hires Jensen as his dog walker. It really is a good fic. Trust me, I have good taste! ;)


I feel a little rediculous recommending these because

1) Who am I to recommend anything? I'm sure everyone knows more J² stuff than I do. You guys have probably read more fics and seen more videos. And-

2) I'm sure any J² lover worth his/her salt has already seen these, but I thought I would throw them out there in case anyone hasn't......

Man it is so hit and miss for me with Jared/Jensen fics! I intended to explore them a lot more tonight (it was painful to leave Wincest alone) but as many as I read maybe 10% of them really stood out to me. Even the bad one's, I read them all the way through, partly because it's a compulsion (can't leave a story unfinished) and partly because I kept waiting...I don't know....waiting to really fall in love with the story. Didn't happen for most. The thing is if you read 25 fics but you only liked 3 of them you kinda tend to feel overwhelmed by the ones you disliked rather than the one's you REALLY liked. But I'm trying to remain positive because the last couple I read were really good IMO.

LOL Right now, I feel like Dean would yell at me like he would to Sammy, "Man you can be whiny bitch!" (cuz I really am being one) only that would't be as funny because I'm actually a female and calling me that would sound more rude than if he was saying that to a guy....I'm rambling....anyway sorry to whine so much, it's just most Jsquared fics don't do it for me!!

The fic I'm recommending was great though. I fell completely in love with it when I read the very last part of the fic. Yeah that....totally killed me.

Man I hate giving any hint to what is in a fic because I think it skews the readers perception, or the impact of the fic upon the reader. But I completely agree with one of the reviews under the fic, so I just wont post the "whole" comment. The poster comented that the last part was...hotter than all the porn and a thousand suns. And I would absolutely agree. Some things are just so much better than porn. Anyway here is the fic-

I'm beginning to see a trend that this author is GREAT with the endings, they are priceless.

Ok so on my way through reading tons of Wincest fics today I got sidetracked into a Jsquared fic. And you are not going to believe this.....it's an AU fic!!!

*gasp* I know! I normally cannot stand the AU fics. Some of them try to stay close to RL, where they keep Jared and Jensen as actors but maybe leave out the Supernatural TV show. But this one was COMPLETELY AU!! We're talkin' Jared as a vet tech.....and Jensen as a financial advisor....bwahahahah!!!!! I cannot believe I started to read it....well I can actually because the description looked good. Here it is-

A long, plotty, wonderfully romantic and fiercely funny J2 AU where Jensen is an amateur life coach and Jared is in need of some serious coaching to get the woman of his dreams.

Here I go again. I just.....I'm still speechless over the fic I just read. It was wonderful.

I don't know what it is with me. I google Wincest rec lists and they display wincest het and RPS I just click on any link possible and read through the fiction lists. I am so DANG picky with the Jared/Jensen fics that I skip over most of them. But when one does pique my interest, I gotta say I have great taste. (LOL I promise I'm not as egotistical as that sounds)

It's just that when I started my exploration into J² fanfiction I tried out a wide variety of fics and I enjoyed few of them. Now that I have narrowed my "tastes" down, I usually pick one or two fics out of hundreds and they are just awesome. I'm getting better at reading the fic descriptions and determining which ones are worth my time. But then again this information is only helpful to those who like the same Jsquared as I do.

Now the funny thing is, I actually almost overlooked this fic because it was only PG-13. LOL I know it's a shameless admission. I like my fics NC-17 *blushes* But I did think it sounded good enough to give a try.

It did not disappoint. I love this fic. It's set after Supernatural has ended/or is ending right at the beginning. Jensen and Jared must move on to acting in movies or other things. The writing is brilliant-I'm not kidding. The characterization of Jensen and Jared is great. It made my heart ache to watch these two men try to adjust to life beyond Supernatural. It's all about the importance of their friendship to each other and how it fits into their new world. They way the boys are written.....*sighs* I don't know it's just about how much they have come to depend on, lean on and ultimately need one another.

Everyone sees a fic in a different light so some may read it and think "What's she making a big deal about?" but honestly this fic almost brought me to tears because of how beautiful it is. It squeezed my heart til it ached because I felt so much for the boys. Just read it please.

I really don't mind being the only one to recommend J² fics and vids but it would be even better if someone else posted their favorites!

Now, where to start hmmmm...well maybe by saying that I just read a fic that TOPS every Jsquared fic I have ever read OR recommended!!! It had everything I could ever want in a Jared/Jensen fic-

1) It was a real world RPS (Finally! Not an AU!!) where Jared and Jensen are still shooting the television series

2) I cannot stop expressing my kink (I guess you would call it?) about having the boys be heterosexuals until they find each other. I just feel that it makes their relationship THAT much more special. It's like if a story writes Jensen as gay or bi well that means he has been attracted to OTHER men, Jared just happens to be the one turning his head at the moment. It makes their interest in one another more common and while I've read and enjoyed several fics even with this theme, it always makes the fic less than perfect in my eyes. Maybe I just feel REALLY posessive over Jared for Jensen because I don't want to read about Jared being with any other man except Jen. Likewise for Jensen, I don't want to picture him with anyone else other than Jared. (Feel the same way about Sam and Dean) I want their interest in each other to be a monumental turning point in their lives. It just pushes every good button of mine when I read that they only have eyes for one another. No man has ever interested them until they fell for one another. I love this fic for having that.

3) This fic is awesome because it's fairly long which I ADORE!!! Roughly 20,000 words (in 3 parts)

4) It has a hurt/comfort theme which I love to read. In this case Jensen is hurt and Jared is comforting. Not to mention that the hurt/comfort aspect of this fic really adds to the sexual tension.

5)Great build up of sexual tension!!! I feel it is fairly slow, which for me the slower, the better!!

Wow, I just read a story that hit my kink so well that it has pretty much turned me into a pile of goo for the rest of the night!!

God, how I love fics where Jared and Jensen are just two straight boys falling in love with each other.....*sighs* I wish there were more fics like this!

Read In this Moment by destina. I'm actually kind of surprised that I read it because I'm pretty specific about only reading first-time fics. But the whole mood and feel of the fic is wonderful. It's like warm-slow-tired-comfort fic all tied up with Jared being Jensen's home. Beautiful.

Inconceriously by monkiedude is a pretty funny fic. And it's somewhat close to my all-time favorite Jared/Jensen fic concept of them falling in love through their portrayal of Sam and Dean. This fic is similar in that Jensen and Jared play with admitting feelings to one another by transferring their feelings to the characters. This story really spotlights Jensen though, his opinion's about Sammy are great.

I know I claim to mostly only love first time fics but this is Jensen and Jared getting married. It's an exception. Really well written and funny. I love the bit about what they remembered about the wedding.

Oh this is one of my favorite J2 fics, Britt! (actually, I pretty love any of agt_spooky's stuff, both J2 and Wincest!).

And since you asked for recs from me, I'm compiling some for both teh J2 and the Wincest thread, will post hopefully sometime this weekend.

But I'm thinking, shouldn't this thread (at least the fanfic recs) be over in the fanfic section, not fanart? I was surprised to find it here! Maybe nicky can move it?

Yay!!!! I can't wait!! I love to see a variety of fanfic genres/types in this thread. There are probably hundreds of people who don't care for some of the fics I like. But if even one person really loves something that I have recced, my job is done. :) I haven't LOVED every fic that was already recced in the Wincest thread. But I really liked one of them (the third one of nobleson's) so don't worry that other people won't like what you have recced, it's hit and miss. For example, let's say you love schmoopy fics. And you rec a whole list of them. I'm not that "big" on schmoopy stories. I do enjoy reading them, and some I really really love, but in general it is not the type of story I gravitate towards, BUT there are tons of people who will come here (in the future) and a lot are going to absolutely love your list of recommended fics. Like I said that could just be an example. Maybe your favorites are genderswap! I don't know there are so many varieties. I know there are a lot of people who don't like mpreg fics, but I actually kind of like them. Some will love your recs and others will not.

1) LOVE....LOVE....LOVE....First-time (for Wincest and J2)
2) bottom!Sammy (and bottom!Jared but you can never find it! Actually it's kinda funny how the postions are reversed in each fandom, generally it's bottom!Sammy but it's always top!Jared. It obviously has to do with the personalities.)
2) Underage (Wincest)
3) "pseudo"....borderline noncon/rape fics, one's where they are made to have sex (usually through circumstances) and they agree to it so it's not "exactly" against their will (Wincest but hey...if there were J2 fics out there like this, I would probably love those too)
4) really possessive Sam or Dean (I love fics where there are really possessive references to each other like "You're mine" or "You belong to me" or "I have always been yours".) Not only in speech but possesive actions or gestures by the boys as well. (Wincest)
5) rough sex (isn't it the hottest!) (in Wincest and J2)
6) bodyswap (for Wincest)
7) hurt/comfort (Wincest and J2)
8) mpreg (Wincest)
9) schmoop (not overly) but sometimes (if written well) I can read full on schmoopy (Wincest and J2)
10) ADORE......LONG fics (I usually get excited when I see 8,000+ word count, but I really get interested when I see 20,000+ word count) (Wincest and J2)

1) When they are written as bisexual or gay (this theme is much more common in J2 than in Wincest, but I dislike it in either fandom) It's just a kink! of mine when stories are about two straight guys who fall in love with each other.
2) Established relationship (not the worst...but I'm NOT a fan in Wincest or J2)
3) AU! I HATE AU!!! UGH! (Wincest or J2)
4) amnesia!fics (Wincest or J2)
5) (in general) PWPs I really like my porn to have a plot! (Wincest or J2)
6) NO to genderswap!! (Wincest)
7) torture/REALLY dark fics (I'm mostly refering to Wincest but there are some J2 one's out there)
8) Character death (I refuse to read anything where Sam or Dean dies) (Wincest)

Again, not my usual thing but if you are not absolutely torn to shreds by this fic and Jensen then your heart is made of stone.
Jensen Ackles is a self-cutter, has bulimia and has serious self esteem issues, especially about being gay. He becomes an actor and meets Jared Padalecki, who change his whole world.
This fic has a happy ending but a realistic one as well.

I’ve linked to the Prologue as I can’t find a master list. You can continue from there. This is taken directly from the story warnings: AU, Angst, Hurt/Comfort. Quite a dark fic - mentions abuse, rape, violence, self-harm, all happened in the past but that affect the present.
Also contains femmeslash, another pairing (Christian Kane/Steve Carlson), and other past pairings—both femme and regular slash.
This story can be tough at times (total hankie alert) but is very much worth it.
Jensen Ackles has come to LA to start his life over after a disasterous past. He meets young Jared Padalecki, who is in closet he doesn’t even know he’s in. Can Jensen open his heart and get past his past? Be aware this story is a WIP as of yet and looks to be for a long time to come. I don't usually rec WIPs but this one is worth it.


Note that I have given a bit more story description on these than the Wincest fics. I don't know why. I guess cause RPS can be a bit dodgy for some so I want people to know what they are getting into.
Anyway, these recs are for anyone to use/look at/whatever.

OMG!! I absolutely LOVED The Wedding Date!! I just...*squeals*...I'm so happy right now because it was so good!! :D

For some reason I thought it was an AU when I read your description, I wasn't too jazzed about that, but I have definitely liked a few J2 AU fics and the concept of the fic sounded good so I gave it a shot. I just can't believe how good it was!! Finding out that it was real world RPS just made me deliriously happy!! And it was so great to see Jared as the gay one out of the two. Most times fics are written with Jensen being gay so it was a refreshing change.

Ok so I was worried that because Jared was gay in this fic that I would have to read about his past experiences with guys (which I hate even minor references of Jensen or Jared being with previous guys) BUT what the heck!! God Teri I was so....I can't even come up with a happy enough word........for how pumped I was when it came out in the fic that Jared had never done ANYTHING with a guy...not even a kiss!!!! To find out that he actually only confirmed the fact that he was gay after he met Jensen! Guh!!!

LOL for lack of a better way to phrase this.....I love it when the boys save their homosexual virginity for each other!!! *sighs* The only guy they should ever be in love with is each other!!!! The whole fic was well paced and VERY hot. The build-up of sexual tension was perfect. I honestly could not find a single thing to gripe about this fic......it hit everything I love about J2 fanfiction- real world, first-time, sexual tension build-up, being a "virgin w/guys" Jared and Jensen!!! It couldn't get any better than that!

But you are cruel to rec a WIP!!!! Although chapter 10 is not the worst chapter to be left hanging. Some of those earlier ones would have been horrible to have to wait!! I can't thank you enough for this rec!!! I would hug you if I could! (sorry, I'm still a bit high off of the joy of reading a really satisfying fic, that's why I'm being all lovey-dovey... :) )

I'm glad that some of my recs have introduced you to new fics that you love.

And yeah, I know what you mean about Jensen usually being the one who is secretly gay (I think it's that whole "Sandy" thing with jared, you know?).

As for hte WIP, well I usually never rec those or anything. But Snapshots is just soooooooo good. BUt you're only up to chapter 10? It goes to like twenty-something (at least so far). I think they just put up chapter 24 or something like that. *is confused*

By WIP I was refering to The Wedding Date....at least I think it's a WIP because it had a TBC at the end of chapter 10. *shrugs*

I'm not yet decided if I'll read Snapshots or In a Mirror Distorted and Indistinct they both seem kinda dark what with issues of cutting, abuse, rape, eating disorders....I just don't know about that yet.

But I did read the Method Acting series and I did enjoy that one. I'm not really into crossover fics (big surprise huh....) but it was done in a very realistic sense which I liked. I just don't really like Dean/Jared or Sammy/Jensen fics because they seem too farfetched, but this one was well thought out. I'm glad I read it.

Definitely my two favorite of the 10 are The Wedding Date and then Waiting for My Real Life to Begin. I read the Crazy Sex Flower fic although I normally don't read crack!fics. I think it's because they are usually short in length and most times they are PWPs which are both on my "don't like" list. It was decent. But again all tastes are different and those fics just don't do it for me!! LOL :D

OMG! Do you know that I had totally forgotten that was a WIP and had that TBC at the end of chapter 10?! *headdesk for being a total moron*
I guess I just forgot. Plus, I always thought that was a decent place to end the fic. But still *facepalms* gah!

Oh I totally understand. I don't usually go for that dark stuff either but Snapshots doesn't have that bad of stuff (mostly in semi-vague flashbacks, though it has gotten a bit more explicit lately). "In a Mirror" is seriously dark, as in your heart gets ripped to shreds and can be very tough to read but is such a excellent and well written story that I felt I had to rec it. But I totally understand that it would not be for everyone.

I'm glad you liked Method Acting, hon. I love those sort of character bleed stories (I still remember that one of my first slash fandoms was Lord of the Rings and my first RPS was that as well. Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd. And there was a great fic where Dom and Billy have sex "in character", which I loved. That was the first "character bleed" story I ever read and it has been such a kink for me ever since!). But with you and your dislike of AUs it makes sense you wouldn't be too fond of that sort of thing.

Now see I LOVE crack!fic. If it says that in the summery I usually click on it. There is SO MUCH angst in this fandom (both Wincest and J2) that it always helps to have a laugh, IMO. But yeah, I could see why you wouldn't care for them.
