Agreeing to be Jace’s keeper to keep him from a jail cell had its perks, one of which was certainly not the extra time spent with the insultingly sarcastic boy. However, having him serve his sentence at Magnus’ apartment mean that Alec visited more often, something which was certainly a perk. When Alec had agreed to take Jace’s place Magnus could hardly believe his luck. Having Alec in his apartment was like a sweet torture. Everything about the straight laced, dark haired boy was the exact opposite of flamboyant, free loving Magnus.

Opposites really did attract.

Yesterday Jace had left with the rest of what Magnus couldn’t help but think of as the Scooby Doo gang, all be it with more pressing matters then a would be ghost or monster.

Magnus had woken early his nerves bouncing. Having Alec in the next room made him feel more like the late teen he appeared then the aged warlock he truly was. Dressing was always an event for Magnus, but today it was more so he wanted to make the perfect impression on Alec even if he had seen him numerous times. Each time the two were together it was another opportunity for Magnus to impress and perhaps woo Alec.

Somewhere deep down Magnus was sure the dark, brooding Shadowhunter knew of his feelings and reciprocated them. Deep down was the problem; Alec obviously hid them and forgot. Magnus was slowly losing the patient with his young crush.

Shrugging into a bright yellow silk shirt and pulling on a pair of skin tight jeans Magnus tied a green cravat around his slim neck and headed out to the kitchen. Slinking around in the kitchen attempting to be as quiet as possible, and failing, Magnus made two cups of steaming coffee. The cups didn’t match and the coffee was borrowed from a coffee shop across town – Java Jones had the best coffee. Coffee in the morning, it was the thought that counted.

Heading out into the living room, Magnus called out cheerily “Morning sunshine. Coffees up.” He said looking at his guest on the sofa.

Alec had to admit he had been surprised by the proposal Magnus had made. An exchange of Nephilim for Nephilim to allow Jace to leave to see the Seelie queen. It was how Alec had managed to be under house arrest now at Magnus’ apartment. The truth was he didn’t feel trapped there, and he didn’t mind how long Jace took before coming back. Alec didn’t mind being here. In fact when it was Jace here, he knew deep down that he was just using visiting Jace as an excuse to come back.

Alec didn’t want to admit, even to himself that he did want to be there with Magnus, or even worse that he might have feelings for the warlock. Alec had been awake for a couple hours now but still lay on the couch of the warlock’s apartment in full shadowhunter gear as he had arrived the day before with his arms crossed across his chest and his eyes closed. He didn’t know what to expect from the start of the day so he wasn’t about to start it himself.

Alec could hear Magnus moving quietly in the other room. He could tell that despite this being the high warlock’s home, he was trying to be considerate of Alec and not wake him. Alec knew he should be the one trying not to be an imposition on Magnus. Magnus had done them a favor, first by agreeing to watch Jace, and then by agreeing to take a trade. Alec wondered if he would have accepted any other shadowhunter in Jace’s place. Would the deal have worked if it had been Izzy instead of himself.

Alec could smell the coffee as the scent drifted into the living room. Alec could hear Magnus’ voice calling out as he entered the room with the two cups. Before he could stop himself, a small smile crept onto Alec’s normally stoic face, and he quickly removed it before sitting up and turning to Magnus. “Good morning” he said, avoiding eye contact with the attractive warlock. The clothes the other man had on fit him perfectly. Though not an outfit Alec would ever wear, it looked amazing on Magnus.“That smells good”

Before Clary and her little gang had walked into his party, or rather gate crashed his party, Magnus had been quiet happy in his own little world. His own company and single. Now He found himself hoping the little gangs’ trip to the Seelie court had gone well and safely. This was getting complicated as far as Magnus was concerned.

Along with worrying about people he knew should even bare thinking about the aged and, suppose to be, wise warlock found himself thinking about Alec in a way a downworlder shouldn’t think about a Nephilim. Having Alec sleeping in the next room had made it hard to fall asleep, but made waking up quick.

When Magnus first walk through the living room to the kitchen he’d noticed the incredibly good looking shadowhunter sleeping on his sofa. Alec was still in his shadowhunter leathers, a fact that didn’t escape Magnus or his libido. Had the girl shadowhunter, Izzy, stayed Magnus doubted he’d be so cheery and polite even hospitable. The warlock was even attempting to be quiet as he made them both a coffee.

Carrying the two steaming cups of coffee Magnus couldn’t keep the smile from his face, never a morning person it was unusual to be up and happy. Waking up with Alec in the same apartment had spurred him out of bed. “Well there’s a coffee here for you too.” Magnus smiled to the Nephilim as he sat up. His hair was sporting the perfect bed head, but his clothes didn’t seem the slightest bit out of place. They were tight enough that Magnus doubted he’d see a crease even if there was any.

“So, did you sleep well?” Magnus asked taking a seat on the arm of the sofa when he really wanted to sit next to Alec. “You know if the sofa wasn’t comfortable you could have shared my bed. Offers there for tonight.” Magnus winked meaning it more sincerely then Alec would probably realize. It was hard knowing that Alec was having trouble coming to terms with the feelings Magnus was sure he felt, he knew all he could do was wait; patience wasn’t one of Magnus’ virtues.

As Alec looked over at Magnus walking in the room he saw the smile on the warlock’s face. So cheery and seemingly carefree. Alec couldn’t remember the last time he had gotten up and looked the way Magnus did now, not just the outfit which consisted of clothes that Alec had never even tried on, but just the attitude, and the way that he seemed so comfortable with his life and who he was.

Alec was far from content in that area. Having to hide his feelings for his parabatai, worried about his parents finding out that he never really had any interest in the girls. Magnus was obviously gay, but he was comfortable with it. Alec had barely admitted what he was to himself. Even then he tried to deny it at times. He envied Magnus for being able to be himself the way he was.

Alec reached out and took one of the cups of coffee Magnus had brought as he offered it to him. “Thank you” He said politely. “And thanks again for this…watching Jace, and allowing him to have someone hold his place” Alec said, looking down at his cup of coffee, feeling uncomfortable sharing this sentiment with Magnus though he had wanted to express his gratitude, knowing the high warlock didn’t have to be as lenient and as hospitable as he was being.

Alec took a sip of the coffee, which was actually brewed perfectly, not too strong or two weak. He nodded as Magnus asked about if he slept well, taking a seat on the arm of the sofa. “Yes, the sofa was fine, thank you” He responded but a moment later his eyes shot up to meet Magnus’ as he offered his own bed even for tonight. Was he serious? Did Alec want him to be? As he realized he was staring he looked down again, knowing the answer to the last question was yes. If he was as free as Magnus he would have happily taken him up on his offer. He wanted to have the courage to say yes, but wasn’t sure he’d ever be that brave.

He cleared his throat uncomfortably. “That’s umm, very generous of you…” He said wondering why he hadn’t just flat out said no, something he knew he would have done if anyone else had been in the apartment.

Early mornings, in fact mornings in general, were not Magnus’ favorite part of the day. The whole waking up and getting up thing, was something the aged warlock preferred to happen later in the day and at his own leisure. Having Alec there, dressed head to toe in leather and looking every bit the warrior had certainly helped with the getting up process.

Magnus recognized that Alec was stuck and confused about who he was. Even recognizing that wasn’t making it easy for him to be patient with his young crush. He wanted Alec to step up and be the man Magnus was knew he was capable of been, he doubted anyone who truly loved and respected the dark hair beauty would care if he loved downworlders, and male ones at that. Magnus recognized that was probably a perfect world syndrome, but anyone could accept anything given time; right?

Alec’s hand came so close when he reached out to take the proffered coffee, and Magnus couldn’t help the smile that sprung to his face. Just having the shadowhunter in his home was improving his mood to no end. “No problem.” Magnus said telling the smile fall into a neutral expression as he listen to Alec thank him, again, for the favor he was doing for Jace. If only Alec knew he was really doing it for him. “It’s fine. I’d rather have you he then him anytime. He’s a little too sarcastic. And I bet he doesn’t look nearly as good when he wakes up.” Magnus said with a nod and wink. It was true, Alec looked amazing for a guy who just spent a night on Magnus’ sofa; all be it perfect covered and complimentary color sofa.

As Magnus sipped on his coffee and let his offer of a bed share settle in he couldn’t keep the imagery of waking up next to Alec from his mind. Not normally one for daydreams, especially when it came to romantic ones, Magnus could only assume its was the temptation and desire. If only the daydreams would stop with waking up together. “My bed’s much more comfortable, and there’s room for two.” He nodded and smiled, “And plenty of room to move around.” Magnus said with a smile as he brought his coffee back to his lips to stop himself elaborating on what else they could do.

Generous wasn’t the word to use, more self gratification and a strong desire but Magnus smiled and nodded accepting the platitude Alec offered. “That’s me.” He said standing and taking in the room, it could do with a quick clean or maybe he should just redecorate. His eyes flicked back to Alec, his house guest for what would never be long enough. Spending this short time with Alec had only made Magnus want more of the Nephilim’s time and attention. “So you’re my prisoner for the day…what will we do to pass the time?” He said balancing his coffee in one hand and resting his other hand on his hip as he regarded the handsome shadowhunter.

As Alec watched him, Magnus seemed to so easily brush off the huge favor that he had done for all of them as if it were nothing. He could have very easily been using this to his advantage, making sure that Alec, Jace and all the others knew that they’d owe him for life for the favors he had done but he was being so gracious about it all, it showed Alec that there was a really soft side to the warlock. One that he had liked during the visits before (under the guise of visiting Jace) but enjoyed even more now.

Alec couldn’t help but give a smirk as Magnus said that he’d rather have him here than Jace, because Jace was too sarcastic. While Alec could believe that, he wasn’t sure he was better looking than Jace in the morning. “Ask any of the girls in Alicante they’ll argue that point with you” He said knowing Jace had a following. “Though his personality can get on anyones nerves given enough time…I’ll try not to annoy you too much, be as good of a guest as I can” He said, honestly not wanting to make Magnus regret allowing the exchange, for more than one reason. He really cared what Magnus thought of him, even though he didn’t really know what if anything there was between them. He knew there had been minor flirtations between them, but what if after spending so much time together, the warlock changed his mind about Alec? Plus Jace needed him here so he could meet with the Seelie queen, that was more important.

Alec took a sip of the coffee Magnus had brought out and couldn’t help but think about the idea of sharing Magnus’ bed, wondering how serious the offer was, and if he was really considering it right now. He avoided looking at him as he described how the bed was comfortable and big enough for two to move around in. That created too many images that he wasn’t ready to deal with yet. He knew he had to say something but couldn’t respond to the description of the bed, also finding himself unable to give a definite no. “Hmmm” He said as though it were an interesting statement as he stared into his coffee.

Alec looked up as Magnus stood. Was he already thinking of them going to the bedroom? He didn’t think he had meant now but maybe he had? Did Alec want to? Would he go if Magnus went there now? So many questions started flowing through his mind that he had to focus on where Magnus was going, if anywhere. He nodded as Magnus called him the prisoner for the day and asked what they’d do. “I guess since I’m your prisoner, what we do is up to you”

To Magnus, no matter what he said allowed, he didn’t see what he was doing as that big a deal. He was helping out friends, or would be friends, or new friends. He felt bad too, he had an ulterior motive in helping out Jace with his sentence; when he had Jace, Alec came over. The first time he’d seen Alec Magnus had liked the Nephilim, the more he saw of him the more the shadowhunter endeared himself to the warlock and annoyed him. Alec was in denial, it was easy for Magnus to tell because he’d been there once many, many years ago.

Swapping Jace for Alec so Jace and Clary could visit the Seelie queen had just give Magnus more time to spend with Alec. That time was welcome and needed no thanks.

“The girls in Alicante can keep him, I’d be happy to make a portal to send him there immediately.” Magnus joked with Alec, “I’ve found out over the year, few years, that girls have very poor judgment and taste. That’s why I steer clear.” He said offering a wink, but he was very serious in his sentiment; Women were trouble.

Magnus was at a loss to how Alec could actually think he’s be as annoying as Jace could be; that boy had taken lessons in the art of annoyance Magnus was sure of it. “You’ll be a great house guest , I’m sure Alec.” Magnus said smiling as he said his name, his name was like silk on his tongue. “You’re already doing better then the morning crouch, you didn’t bite my head off.” He laughed, Jace hadn’t been a morning person though normally Magnus wasn’t either and he wondered if it was something to do with morning company.

As Magnus spoke about his bed he kept an eye on Alec to gauge his reaction. The young (compared to Magnus’ actual age) Nephilim didn’t seem put off or disgusted by the idea. The hum he gave made Magnus smile, even if it was more of a pass about the bed and a comment on the coffee. He let it lay for now, not wanting to push Alec and stir up the temper and harsh remarks he’d received before.

“I think guest, more then prisoner. Unless you would like the handcuffs and shackles treatment?” Magnus asked raising an eyebrow in Alec’s direction and attempting to keep his imagination under control. “As a guest you have a choice, but as a prisoner you’re under my control.” He said with a wink.

Though Magnus may not have seen what he was doing as a big deal, to Alec it was. He wasn’t sure that in the same position, any of the Shadowhunters Magnus was helping would have helped a warlock in trouble with the Clave. He was almost positive that Jace wouldn’t have wasted his time like this. Even Alec, with the feelings he was fighting against, wasn’t sure he would have been strong enough to publicly help Magnus the way he was helping them right now. It was something he felt ashamed for even thinking about. He hoped that if the situation had been reversed, he would have proved stronger than he thought.

Alec couldn’t keep himself from laughing as Magnus suggested making a portal to send Jace to Alicante. “I’m surprised you didn’t already send him somewhere else while he was staying here, he can be a lot to handle living with if you’re not used to it.” Alec said, knowing that you had to understand Jace to be able to put up with him. Or love him in Alec’s case. Alec looked over as Magnus commented on steering clear of girls and their poor judgement and taste. He caught the wink before looking down nervously. He agreed with the warlock.

Alec smiled lightly as Magnus spoke confidently of being sure Alec would be a good houseguest. He smirked as he mentioned that Alec hadn’t bit his head off that morning, already off to a better start than Jace. “You did bring me coffee” He said as if that were his reason for not biting his head off that morning. The truth was he had been too happy to see the Warlock to have been in a bad mood that morning.

“Umm, No I’ll pass on the handcuffs” Alec mentioned, trying to keep from being flustered at the thought. It was a realistic idea and one he was sure the Inquisitor would have been in favor of for Jace, but somehow Alec’s mind went beyond the practical uses of the handcuffs to a more exciting use. “I guess I’m a little bit of both” He said as Magnus clarified the difference between whether he was a guest or a prisoner. “I don’t want to stand in the way of your normal activities…I can just sort of lay low if you’ve got plans” He commented, not wanting to be in the way anymore than he already felt he was.

Magnus wasn’t sure how he could see what he was doing as a big deal; it gave him a chance to see Alec more. That would always be a good thing. Jace had been bearable, Alec was better though in Magnus’ eyes. Alec seemed lost n thought for a moment, but Magnus didn’t mind it gave him a chance to look over the young Nephilim, he never stopped think how handsome and sexy Alec was. Even when he was pouting or complaining Magnus still adored him.

Clearly Jace inspired the same feelings in Alec, Magnus smiled when Alec laughed at his joke of sending Jace through a portal. “Do you ever get used to living with that little ball of sarcastic comments?” Magnus asked honestly wondering how anyone could get used to living with Jace; he was annoying to say the least. The comment on woman Magnus hoped Alec got, he knew what the boys preference was even if Alec wasn’t admitting to it.

“No better was to start the morning then coffee, especially when someone else brews it.” Magnus admitted, he normal conjured something up to go with it but he wasn’t sure what Alec liked. “We could go grab some bagels or muffins for breakfast?” Magnus asked wondering if the Nephilim would even want to be seen in public with him. “Or do you Shadowhunters prefer Eye of Newt or Cereal?” He joked with him, hoping Alec would take it as a joke not a jibe at his heritage.

Magnus was only half joking about the handcuffs he quite liked the idea of keeping his young shadowhunter in cuffs, in his room. Quickly the warlock pushed the idea from his mind afraid of saying words to that effect out loud. “Well we can save them.” Magnus said leaving it there with no wink or laugh, maybe Alec would see he was half serious.

“Nothing normal round here, how boring that would be.” Magnus smirked as if the very idea was a joke. Magnus wasn’t sure he really had normal activities; recently his activities had involved his very own Scooby gang. “I think its only right you come with me if I have plans. Have to keep an eye on you after all.” Magnus nodded and smiled. In truth he just wanted to keep Alec close to spend time with him. “Do you have plans?” Magnus asked wanting to keep things are normal as possible for Alec.

Alec kept his smirk as they talked about Jace and nodded as Magnus asked if he ever got used to living with the sarcastic comments. “Yeah, after awhile you learn how to tune out what you don’t want to hear” Alec commented. Jace could be a lot to handle sometimes. But Jace was also someone that Alec idealized to a point. Both as a fighter, a friend and someone he had been in love with for years. But somehow as he talked to Magnus, his attention was diverted for a moment from his feelings for Jace. Instead he wanted the warlock to like him, but didn’t’ want to give off the impression of trying too hard.

He knew that part of the comfort was probably in talking to Magnus, who was open with his sexuality and comfortable with the very thing that Alec was struggling with. But he knew it had to be easier for a downworlder. Nephilim didn’t come out. In Alec’s mind it was never something that could be accepted. Alec couldn’t help but wonder if Magnus already knew about his own preference. Was that what the flirtatious comments were about? Or did the man act the same way around Jace, or any other male. Alec wasn’t even sure anymore if he knew whether he wanted Magnus to know or not. Would it be a relief, and maybe allow him to explore the new twinges of excitement he was feeling? Or would it just give him someone else he’d have to worry about telling the others. Izzy had kept his secret, but would Magnus even see the point?

“I agree” Alec said with a nod as Magnus said about coffee being the best way to start the day. “And if I’m still here tomorrow, I’ll brew the coffee. Only fair that I do my share around here”

He let out a light laugh at Magnus’ suggestions of what to eat. It seemed funny to him to hear the warlock suggesting that shadowhunters might prefer eye of newt, when it was his party that had drinks being served that changed the mundie into a rat. “No newts, a bagel would be good though…unless you prefer the other, then I’ll skip breakfast”

The talk of handcuffs both excited and sent a nervousness through Alec. Part of him liked the idea. While the others were away of getting the chance to explore the urges he’d been suppressing for so long. Magnus suggested that they could save the handcuffs and Alec gave a light shrug. The gesture surprised him. He knew he should have been reacting with outrage. He would have had any of the others been around. But with it being just the two of them, his gesture could have seemed even a bit encouraging of the idea.

Alec wondered what a typical day for the warlock would be. He said there was nothing normal, he didn’t want to get bored, but what did that mean? Could he constantly change what he did, no routine’s? Alec’s life had been mostly routines, training, studying, battles. This was different. “I’ll come with you without the complaint my predecessor might have given.” He said trying to be the least trouble that he could be. He shook his head as Magnus asked if he had plans. “No, not really. I though that I’d be visiting the Seelie Queen with the others, but its better that Jace is going” He said. He had been all too willing to agree to stay behind once he found out that he would be staying with Magnus. He wanted this extra time with him, he didn’t really care what they did.

Talking about Jace seemed to put Alec at some sort of ease and Magnus knew it was because Alec loved Jace both as a brother and with a desire for something more. The aged warlock knew Jace would never return the latter of the feelings, but instead saw Alec as a brother; Parabatai as their raced called it. “I doubt that boy has much trouble making himself heard. Seems like the type to talk until someone takes notice. I expect that’s exactly what he’ll do at the Seelie court.” Magnus said with a hint of a smirk in his eyes. Magnus knew that the Seelie queen would be easily able to keep the sarcastic and out spoken Nephilim in line. “I’m sure he’ll meet his match in that court, Fae are an interesting race.” He said trying to be diplomatic about his views of the fairy peoples knowing that even he wasn’t immune to their tricks.

“Well that, Alec, I will hold you too. And I have a feeling you may be here a while, I don’t think Jace will be back too soon.” Magnus said hoping Alec would be there the next day and not just to brew the coffee. “But I’m sure if you’re here tomorrow we can find more fun things to do then have you brew coffee.” He winked again leading the conversation to more risqué subjects.

Magnus laughed out loud at the breakfast discussion, in his younger days he’d eaten some strange things on his travels but now he could happily lead himself to “Well I’m usually more of a snake guy when it comes to breakfast, but I guess a bagel will work.” He joked, snake was a little too chewy for him. “We could go out and grab breakfast, there’s this great coffee shop on the corner.” He suggested unsure how Alec would feel about been seen out with him.

The talk of handcuffs was still sending mental images through his mind, ones that Magnus wasn’t completely adverse too. In fact they were proposing a lot of possibles if he could ever get Alec to admit to himself just what his orientation was. When Alec had shrugged Magnus wondered just how adverse he was to the whole idea. He suspected Alec was just in denial about his sexuality something, for now, he was willing to let him go with. Magnus wasn’t going to wait forever. He was used to getting what he wanted and he wanted Alec.

Magnus generally didn’t hold a routine, his days could be taken up with healing, portals, or party planning. Today he had little planned, he’d expected that he would be baby sitting the Jace not hanging out with Alec. “I don’t have any plans. So we’re free to enjoy the day.” He was tempted to throw in a comment about heading back to bed but felt he’d baited the innocent Nephilim enough. “Why do you think its better that Jace is there. Don’t you want to meet the Queen of the Fairies? She’s a sight and a total piece of work” Magnus told him glad it wasn’t Alec facing the Queen’s games.

Alec nodded as Magnus described how he was sure that Jace would speak until he was heard. It was true, it was one of Jace's flaws and strong points both. "I think that even with the Seelie Queen Jace will be able to hold his own fairly well. " Alec knew though that the faeries were sure to try some tricks on them and Alec half wished he could have been there to watch Jace and Izzy's back through it all. It still stung however when he thought back to how adament Jace had been that Alec wouldn't have been able to go with Clary and watch her, as if he didn't trust him to protect her. After all these years something like that had hurt, and he knew Jace wouldn't even give it a second thought after he had left.

Alec nodded again as Magnus said he' d hold him to brewing coffee the next day. "I'm sure Jace will take his time while he's got his freedom" Alec said immediately regretting his choice of words. He didn't want Magnus to think he felt trapped being here. Magnus was being a better host than he'd ever expected a warlock to be. He looked up however as Magnus spoke of finding him more fun things to do than brewing coffee. "Its a good way to start the day..." He said not denying that they could do other things.

Alec wrinkled up his nose slightly as Magnus mentioned eating snakes for breakfast, not even sure if that was a joke knowing that downworlders ate many types of food he'd never consider. "I may have to teach you about real food while I'm here" He told him lightly then agreeing to go to the coffee shop on the corner for breakfast. "Yeah sure...we can always get it to go if its crowded" He said, feeling a bit embarrassed by the situation and not sure he wanted a cafe full of people watching him out with another guy on what would appear to be a date. The thought tormented Alec though as he knew that he did like Magnus and felt an attraction to him.

Alec nodded again as Magnus said that he had no plans so they were free to enjoy the day. That actually sounded to him like one of the best offers he had heard in awhile. There weren't many things he'd rather be doing right now. Especially without the other Nephilim around that he had to worry about what they'd think of him for acting this way. "I don't need to meet her, and I'm sure she's more interested in meeting Jace anway, being Valentine's son at all. Having him and Clary there will be more effective."

Something about the situation had been on Alec's mind since the new arrangement was made. He had wanted to ask out of curiousity but had been too nervous of finding out the answer last night, but today he just wanted to know. "Magnus...Can I ask you something?" He said taking a deep breath and then going on. "When you made the arrangement with the Inquisitor, you said you left it so that something like this could happen, where you just needed a Shadowhunter and the specifics didn't matter...did you do that thinking you'd switch Jace for me at some point?"

Alec was right, Magnus was under no illusion that Jace could easily hold his own even against the tricks of the Seelie Queen. Part of Magnus hoped the Faerie would be able to at least get a little something over on the arrogant Nephilim; teach him a lesson. Magnus didn’t voice the latter of his hopes for the gang’s trip to the court; he knew well enough that Alec probably wouldn’t take to kindly to his friends downfall however slight. Instead Magnus just nodded and tried not to smirk. It hurt that Alec clearly had feelings for Jace even if he wouldn’t admit his orientation, and it hurt because Magnus knew he had feelings for Alec.

“I’m sure that boy takes his time at everything. And its not as if I kept him in a strict jail here. Jail time might be good for him.” Magnus said noting that Jace seemed like he’d had everything handed too him, maybe a little strict jail time would suit him and make him change a little. Magnus hoped Alec didn’t feel trapped, Jace was the prisoner Alec was just a stand in, but what a great stand in he was. Mag would much rather have had Alec with him, then Jace.

Alec’s naivety made Magnus want to laugh out loud, though he wasn’t sure if he was naïve or just avoiding the innuendoes Magnus kept offering out. All of his comments were things that flew into his head at a moments notice, but things he wouldn’t mind trying with Alec if he could ever get him to admit his feelings. “Sure, but theres a lot of good ways to start the day.” He winked, not holding back his playful side this time.

“Is that an offer to good for me, Alec? Seeing you in the kitchen might be nice. Then I could cook for you, sure you us Downworlders don’t eat just weird food.” He said smirking. Magnus himself enjoyed many very different type of foods and had tried most over his many years, though he preferred Mundie food to most others.

Magnus wondered if Alec was ashamed to be seen with him when he suggested getting it to go. The warlock didn’t care, he very rarely cared about anything people said about him; for Alec he’d tried to make sure people didn’t say anything about them if there could be a them. “Sure we could head back here and just hang out, I mean you are supposed to be under lock and key.” Magnus nodded trying to act stern with a twinkle in his eye.

“Well I’m sure you can meet the Seelie Queen another time, though what the attraction to her is I’ll never know. Met her once myself…” Magnus said trailing off a little as he sipped his coffee. “Damn Faeries are all the same; tricksters only out to further themselves.” He said with a shrug noting how that was like some warlocks he knew. Turning back to Alec smiling Magnus changed his mood and continued more lightly, “Lets grab breakfast and see how the day goes.” He said slamming back his coffee and putting it on the side table.

It was a good question, one Magnus wasn’t sure he really knew an answer too. Well the answer he had could scare Alec, it was too soon to be so open with Alec when he wasn’t open with himself yet. “Not just for you, but I knew this way if Jace needed an out then another Nephilim would take him place. I’m just glad it was you.” Magnus said with a genuine honest smile. “Jace and Clary have something big they have to do, so do you and the rest of your gang. I just made sure that could still happen. Besides what that Inquisitor doesn’t know can’t hurt us.” Magnus said with a smile and a nod confident he hadn’t scared Alec in any way.

"You've been quite accomodating to us both" Alec replied as Magnus said how he didnt exactly keep Jace in a strict jail here. He hoped Magnus didnt think he was trying to give him that impression, like he thought of this as jail. In fact right now there really wasnt anyplace else that Alec would rather be, forced or not. He just needed the excuse to be here.

Alec nodded as Magnus told him there were a lot of good ways to start the day. "A lot of good ways to get the blood flowing too" Alec said, still not sure if he was actually trying to encourage Magnus or not. He did find himself drawn to Magnus and wanting to spend more time with him. And he liked the flirtations, even if he could only reciprocate more subtley or in joking ways. But as Magnus winked at him, Alec shyly averted his eyes, only wishing he was as strong as the downworlder.

"I'm not much of a cook but I'm better than my sister" Alec said, knowing it was never wise to eat some of Izzy's cooking. It was why he made sure he was at least a little self sufficient in the kitchen."We could cook for each other sometimes, I'm sure we'd both learn something" He began wondering simple things, like what Magnus' favorite food was, and how good of a cook he was. He already knew he could make great coffee, but was he very domestic in the kitchen beyond that?

Alec felt guilty about suggesting getting it to go. He knew he should just put up with anything and be the good houseguest he wanted to be. Why was he so nervous about being seen in public with the person he wanted to spend hours with alone behind closed doors. He smiled however as Magnus graciously made light of it and spoke of keeping Alec under lock and key. "You're right, I'm lucky I'm getting out at all" He said with a light smile.

"I'm in no rush to be meeting her, I mean I already met the High Warlock of Brooklyn, no fae can top that" Alec said in his attempt at a joke, though he knew Magnus' powers were impressive. "What was it like when you met her? " he said interested, more because it was a story about something in Magnus' life than because he was interested in hearing about the Seelie Queen. Alec nodded as Magnus suggested they go get breakfast and see how the day went. He finished his coffee and placed the mug on the table beside Magnus'.

It was hard for Alec to ask him the question because he was ready to deal with how he'd react if he knew that he was the reason behind the arrangment being made the way it was. But he also did find himself hoping that Magnus had wanted him to be there and spend time with him, that it was more than just having any young male that Magnus wanted, that he and Jace weren't interchangable to him, that maybe for once Alec was the one who was desired. He found himself giving a light smile as Magnus told him that althoguh it wasnt planned this way, he was glad it was Alec. "We all appreciate how you've helped us. It was very clever of you to allow it to work this way, plus its always nice to see someone getting around the Inquisitor"

“Are you normally this polite or do you think the coffee, or me, is going to turn you in to a rat? You know that was an honest mistake.” Magnus said with a soft laughed as he thought back to that party and the party gift on of the vampires accidentally left with. “Of course the mistake was yours and your friends for bringing the Mundie in the first place. My parties are no place for light weights like mundies.” He scoffed at the very idea. Though Magnus meant no harm in his words, he just wanted Alec to lighten up and stop been so formal.

This Nephilim was like a broken facauet in Europe; running hot and cold. Magnus couldn’t get his feet in the right feeling. One moment Alec seemed almost shy and the next Magnus was sure he was encouraging his colorful, playful words play. Sure not all of it was just banter; he would love the opportunity to show the Shadowhunter how colorful he could really be, but not why he was so confused about what he wanted. Magnus wasn’t going to be someone’s toy.

“I’m sure you prefer to run or kill a few Demons or downworlders before breakfast, but for now the coffee and a walk to the coffee shop will have to do. I never use magic on an empty stomach.” He said making it clear he wouldn’t be opening portals or teleporting them to the coffee shop anytime before dinner. Magnus smiled to himself as Alec looked away enjoying that he seemed to make the strong (and handsome) Nephilim blush and act shyly.

Cooking for each other seemed very domestic, nice but a little too domestic for Magnus who wasn’t sure he owed a full utensil set let alone pans too. “Maybe we should just order in sometime…or go out. Be sure not to let your sister cook for us though. I know this fabulous place in China town.” He said not wanting to admit his short comings in the kitchen department, though they were the only short comings he had. He smiled thinking about the little place he knew and taking Alec there. “Place is ran by another warlock, terrible warlock but great cook. I think its his cooking that keeps him safe from all the things he screw up with his magic. I’ve seen Mundies do better.” He smirked with another laugh.

Magnus laughed thinking of the things he could do to Alec to keep him under a physical lock and key, sure they were fun to think of, but he had no intentions of been so strict. Magnus believed in free ways and free thinking, it had been that thinking that had helped him come up with the clause in the inquisitors plan. “You are lucky, the last prisoner I kept for the Inquisitor got lost when I locked him in my closet.” He joked partially, his closet was a labyrinth.

Shrugging Magnus thought back to the few run ins he’d had with the Seelie queen. “She’s charming in the only way Fae can be, but she’s a trickster too. She’s had more practice then the other fae and she’s good at it.” Magnus said, “She’ll try all she can to get entertainment out of your friends. You’re best to stay clear of Fae at all costs, stick with the High Warlock of Brooklyn; he’s a much better bet.” Magnus smiled jovially before laughing.

“Ha. Its not getting around them at all. They can ask the questions but anything not in their handbook confuses them. All I did was throw a few words and phrases at her and she was flumouxed.” Magnus said brushing off the thanks. In truth he hadn’t done it for the thanks he just hated to see the inquisitor punishing someone for something that wasn’t really a fault of their own. “Inquisitors work for the Clave and I don’t need to tell you what Downworlds think of your kind’s government.” Magnus pointed out, like preaching to the choir, he knew Alec knew.
