Each medal has a specific reason for being awarded. Listed are the medals and the reasons why they are awarded.
Commendation: your standard, run-of-the-mill medal that could be awarded for any reason the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer see fit. It is usually awarded for doing something impressive while on a mission, such as saving a life, scoring a lucky hit on a vessel, or pulling off a very difficult maneuver while piloting.
Tactics Award: Awarded primarily to tactical/security officers by the Commanding Officer for brilliance in creating tactics to overcome an enemy in battle. The tactic in question must be original and it has to work very well in order to be considered for this award.
MVP Award: Awarded by the Commanding Officer to the player who played the largest and most important part of the mission. It is possible, upon Commanding Officer's decision and on the Executive Officer's advice that this award be shared amongst two or more players.
Graphics Award: An OOC (out-of-character) award for someone who contributes major pieces of artwork and images to the site. An example would be a new banner, deck layouts, or such. Awarded by either the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer.
Diplomacy Award: An OOC or possibly IC award for someone who negotiates with anyone other than a crewmember for a treaty or alliance. However, if a hostile situation involving another crewmember arises, it is possible to receive this award if no force was used. Awarded by the Commanding Officer.
Recruitment Award: An OOC award given to any player who recruits at least one person. Each subsequent awarding requires two more members brought in by the same person. Awarded by either the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer.
Security Award: Awarded to crewmembers who successfully defend against hostile boarding parties or are successful in boarding party action. Awarded by the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, or Chief Tactical Officer.
R&D Award: An OOC and IC award given to crewmembers who design new technology or upgrades for the ship and everything else inside it, including shuttlecraft. The technology/upgrades have to work properly in order to receive this award. Awarded by the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, or the Chief Engineer.
Engineering Award: An IC award given to crewmembers who pull off a Scotty miracle when fixing the ship, shuttle, or another ship/station. This means that under massive pressure and extremely tight deadlines, they are able to pull off a seemingly impossible feat of engineering. Awarded by the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, or Chief Engineer.
Purple Heart: Awarded to crewmembers who are injured in combat. Awarded by department heads to their subordinates.
Command Award: Awarded to officers who display enormous command ability when put into an unfamiliar position, but there must be a risk of life. This award is the most prestigious award offered by this ship, it should not be taken lightly. Requires 75% vote of senior staff to be awarded, Commanding Officer has veto capability.
