Background: Jonathan always dreamed of going to space, but he liked to fight first. So at 18 he joined the Starfleet Academy to train, he trained for Tactical Officer and learned all forms of combat. From the ancient Japanese martial arts, and other forms of combat including how to use a Bat'leth. He was also a good marksman. After graduating from Academy with Highest Honours, he was assigned to a starbase as an ensign. But he didn't stay there for long, because of his great skill he was promoted and went quickly up the rank ladder. At the age of 28 he became a Commander because of a feat he accomplished when he saved his Commanding Officer from certain danger when a the Starbase he was on had a Hull breach. Once promoted he was assigned to the ship the USS Defiant under the command of Captain Andrew Smith.
