Labeling Clay the key to the season made sense on paper over the winter, but at this point I think counting on him is foolish. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised down the road, but this key needs replacement.

I've been advocating a phantom DL move, but maybe it's not so phantom. As with Lester, it would be nice to know what the heck is wrong. The article does a good job of showing why hitters are having so much success against him, but only Clay can tell us why his velocity is down and his location is fubar.

ERAs of our starting five after last night:

3.72
4.09
4.56
6.00
8.87

Two of these pitchers should not be in danger of losing their jobs, and another two aren't. Welcome to the DL, Mr. Buchholz.

Reaction answer: do you mean like bagging groceries ... or parking cars or remembering how to get batters out?

Real answer: Good question, doubt it, but don't know.

I probably should give him a bit more slack because of last year's injury, but he's too talented to be this bad. That fact will earn him time and more chances, but how many has he earned?
