It is really staarting to feel like Springtime baseball: waking up, checking out the weather report and hoping for sunshine. It has been raining at City of Palms Park this morning, but as of about 10 am, the tarp has come off and hopefully the drying begins. wink.gif
We'll have Brad Penny starting today against Edwin Jackson. Jackson pitched in the East for the Rays ( barf.gif ) last season, and has now moved to Motown.

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
5. Mike Lowell, 3B
6. Jason Bay, LF
7. Chris Carter, RF
8. Jed Lowrie, SS
9. Dusty Brown, C
-- Brad Penny, SP

In our line up, there are some names that we love to see: some real fan favorites: Big Papi and Jason Bay, Pedroia the Destroyer and YOOOOOOUK!!!! (let's hope the last 2 have had their cooties shots after their recent affiliation with Mr Intangibles.)
Mike Lowell and Jacoby Ellsbury will feel at home with this group.

Oh, and Jed, we're not quite sure if we feel comfortable with you in the lineup, so I think you should continue to court our basedball hearts. A couple of home runs, rbis and great fieldwork will impress us (again) today.

So, rain rain go away, the Sox want to win every day!

Glad to see Edwin Jackson out of the east......

I am so starved for baseball (WBC just not on my radar) that I traveled up to Orono on Saturday to watch U Maine play a double header in temps that never exceeded 40 degrees. In the stand that is, on the field they put in some new kind of surface that captures and holds the heat quite well....

I was reading in the Globe football notes yestarday that the NFL is considering a move to an 18 game schedule in the near future and would do so by decreasing the preseason by two games. Wouldn't that be a great idea for baseball? shoesale.gif The preseason could be done right now and the roster could be managed similar to it is in September in that any player on the 40 man roster could play until say April 15th when rosters would need to reduce to 25. Why not confused.gif

Anyway, for today, I'm glad that Brad Penny is out there and hope he does well.....

Or did anyone find audio? Sox site shows a listen link but I can't see the game being broadcast. Penny's line looks good so far, though.

No audio either to my knowledge.

Groundouts-flyouts: Jackson 5-2, Penny 3-3, Papelbon 0-0.
