As further evidence that wins are meaningless for a pitcher, Cliff Lee doesn't have any at all despite a 1.95 ERA after 5 starts. Compare and contrast with Clay's 4-2 record with a 7.71 ERA. But this isn't Clay's day, this is Beckett's.

Josh has pitched 2 terrible games, 3 pretty good games and 2 ace level games, including 7 shutout innings in his last start. We need another today, because Lee isn't going to hand us the game.

Assuming he gets the start against the lefty pitcher and for a day game after night game, I vote for a Kelly Shoppach game winning home run.

GO RED SOX!!!

In my mind this game will turn on Beckett. He's got to keep up with Lee. If he can, Sox bats will take care of it.

Would love to see him approach another 9 K game.

Hi Expat cheers.gif

No pressure on Beckett or anything, huh?

If anyone didn't notice the discrepancy between my thread opening expectations about Shoppach and the actual lineup, here are the pre-game notes:
This will be two games in a row that Jarrod Saltalamacchia is catching Josh Beckett and Salty is catching a day game after a night game against a lefty. Valentine likes what he sees from his catcher of late.

LOVE IT!

Aviles can lead us off with a home run every game and I won't complain. appl.gif

GO RED SOX!!!!

I am getting ready to do a FAFSA application online. 5 page college loan application for my youngest son. I have done this grueling task every year since 1997, many of these years for 2 of the kids. Seamus didn't have enough credits to graduate, sort of at the last minute , so I am doing this late.
I don't think I should ever have to go to Purgatory.

Anyway a good job by Beckett and the rest could really help my positive energy!
