Barring rain or implementation of the Bud Selig All Star Game Rules, one of these teams is going to come away from this game with its sixth win. And one is not.

For the Red Sox, sometimes-ace Josh Beckett makes his Target Field debut. For the Twins, Nick Blackburn makes his first start in more than a week after battling shoulder stiffness in his last start. This sets up to be another fine pitchers' duel between starters who enter the contest with ERAs north of 5.00.

The Red Sox have the momentum. Not just the momentum of a one game winning streak, but the momentum of a true team victory. The offense picked up their starting pitcher. A starting pitcher picked up the bullpen. The manager picked up his closer with an unorthodox 9th inning trip to the mound. And Marlon Byrd picked up his first hit in a Red Sox uniform – a welcome surprise after a 3-43 start with the Cubs.

Are the Red Sox done trying to kill us, and ready to start killing the baseball instead? Tonight we find out.

It is not raining here on I-495. That's about all I can say for sure.

Aviles, like Marco before him, is holding his own as a leadoff hitter. Double to start the game. thumbsup.gif

Georgie Porgie, he might buy the whole league, but he doesn't have enough money to buy fear to put in my heart.
