"Seven members of the Metrodome's cleaning and maintenance crews were honored on the mound before the game for the work of those groups in converting the field back and forth from baseball to football in light of Monday's Packers-Vikings game."
I do feel bad for the Tigers and their fans - we have, after all, been there and done that. But we also know it will make it that much sweeter when they beat the Twins for the Division some day.

Alex Gonzalez story on ESPN Boston...not really a feelgood thing.http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/columns/s..._amy&id=4537575

I am amazed he is playing at all.

Oh my goodness.
There is something incredibly endearing about Alex Gonzalez. I know that sounds squishy, but it's just my reaction to what I see through the media window.
But this is a situation I wouldn't wish on an enemy. I'm glad Alex has baseball to occupy his attention at least some of the time.

Oh, God... Poor Alex...poor Johan... his poor family. Like MJ said, I am amazed he is playing at all - amazed he can concentrate and seem so normal on the field when he is going through such hell personally. I hope the few hours he is on the field each day give him a bit of a break, and that his family finds some peace and a relief from their ordeal.

Wow. I did not know this.
J.D. Drew spent his first season with us with his son in a body cast
, and persevered.

Oooohh...it's fun to read stuff like that, recounting success against a team from past years, but it makes the old superstitious Sox fan in me cringe...Tori Hunter's last sentence said it all - "Whatever you do during the season doesn't matter in the postseason," Hunter said. "This is my sixth postseason, and I know that. ... It's not about history or division titles or who has more rings. It's about who wants it more."
No hubris folks...no hubris. It's bad juju.

| Jose's take on the ALDS. |
What the Angels have is aquaphobia, a fear of wateródirty water in particular.
