welcome to the harrington apartmentsan apartment block just outside of new york city, that is home to
hundreds of singles, couples and families. like the social hierarchy that these
people belong to, the standard of living becomes better the further up the
block you go - so at the top you have the elite, and at the bottom those who
are struggling to make ends meet. look around you, all the people that live
here are so very different. young couples, single parents, rich families. each
and every person has their own story to tell and of course, their own secret to
keep. you wouldn't believe some of the things you hear if you just wander
around the corridors. the fights, the sweet-nothings, the gossip. just by
keeping your eyes and ears open, you can find out almost anything about this
vast array of people.
so what's your secret then? what, you're not telling? fine, we'll find out
sooner or later anyway.
many of the people living here know each other. what with it being a rather
secluded community, it's ended up being pretty tight knit but it tends to stay
within the class boundaries, if you know what i mean. a lot of people commute
daily to and from new york for work and what not so they tend to travel
together, sharing carpools or saving seats next to one another on the subway.
the owner lives in the apartments too, you know. mr. harrington lives on one of
the top floors with his family. he's a nice enough guy if you pay your rent,
but if you don't, you might as well pack your bags and get gone. he doesn't
take any crap but if you stay on the right side of him, he's not too bad.
this place isn't a bad place to live. if you live on the top floors, anyway. if
you live on the bottom? well that's just a bit of bad luck but even so, there
are people living a lot worse. the worst thing about it is probably the gossip
and the way it still seems to have some class segregation. but then again,
everywhere does. the atmosphere inside this apartment block gives you a taste
of life in the big city, busy, full of gossip and noise. and full of secrets.
you might think you know the lady living in 104 but you don't, not as well as
we do, and did you know that the guy in 412 has a deep dark secret? we bet you
didn't.
well, i guess we'll see you around. and just remember, we know everything so
your secret won't be a secret for long.
