to london city

london, england; maybe the busiest city in the entire united kingdom. during the day, students head for school and adults go to work. yet as soon as the sun sets, thats when the big boys come out to play.
for centuries there have been a select few who have fought against the forces of darkness and 2009 sparks the rising of the last van helsing.

it's also the time when the cullen's arrive in london for the first time in two centuries.

two boys from different sides of the rails have yet to meet - in this time anyway. if you believe in past lives then this is no different.

in a time when magic is banned and the city is led by prime minister uther pendragon, will the last van helsing and the warlock from arthurian legend form an unlikely alliance to battle the half life's?

Getting up in time for class had never really been Merlin's forte. It was a well known fact that if he was more than ten minutes later, then he was having a good day. Today, however, he was almost half an hour behind schedule and he knew his tutor was probably going to behead him. He'd exhausted his magic trying to get out the house this morning so, when he opened his locker and everything fell out, he tried to bite back the annoyed cuss that threatened to slip out.

    "Oh bloody 'ell!"

Bending down, he grabbed the fallen sketchbook before stuffing it in his messenger bag and slamming the locker door shut, narrowly managing to move his hand before he broke it. Turning on the heel of his white converse, he walked to class, hands absentmindedly trying to straighten the pink and white striped polo shirt he'd put on in the early hours of this morning. It was only now he realised it was smaller than he’s previously thought. If he, by chance, moved the wrong way, it would ride up to bare the slightest sliver of skin. Coupled with the black jeans, so tight they could be classed as illegal that hung so low it seemed his hipbones were the only things holding them up; he wouldn't be surprised if he was stopped on the way home and asked 'how much?'

Pushing his way into the class, he smiled apologetically at the slightly frazzled looking lecturer before heading for his seat at the back of the class. God only knows what they were talking about today so, instead, he turned his attentions to the girl next to him.

    "Mornin' Gwen"

Deadlines were not Gwen's thing, but she was almost always early or on time for everything, especially class. She was extremely bored today. They were talking about the effect of French Impressionism on modern art. Thrilling. Ever the restless one, Gwen was doing all she could to not squirm in her seat like a five-year-old. Why, oh why, was this lecture so long? She sighed and tucked a curl that had pulled itself out of her sloppy bun behind her ear. Nothing redeeming about this class. Art History wasn't actually that bad usually, but who cared about Impressionism? Of course, the teacher, who hated her, picked that moment to call on her. "Can you repeat the question?" she asked, pulled out of the scribblings she was doing in the margins of her notebook. Silly teacher man, execting Gwen to be paying attention.

That, of course, was the precise moment Merlin picked to walk in. Oh. My, she thought to herself. If ever she thought he was gay before, it was confirmed oh so much right now. The teacher was so flustered by Merlin's attir and his late arrival, he forgot that he'd called on Gwen. She snickered as he slid into the seat next to her. "Merlin," she said, barely containing the fit of laughter that was threatening to overwhelm her, "is that how you're paying for school then?" Oh, this was too much. She hoped he knew that he'd just given her fuel for about three weeks' worth of teasing and insults. "Good morning, by the by. You're late, you know." Yes, Gwen. Point out the obvious. Fantastic way to win him over. "You didn't miss much. Flannery's horrible dull today. The impact of French Impressionism on modern art." She rolled her eyes. "I'd loveto know when we're going to leave the old dead guys alone and study some of the modern art impressionism supposedly had an impact on." She realized that, yes, it was an important subject, and it was important to understand the roots of the stuff she wanted to do, blah blah blah. It didn't make it any more exciting.
