Cool, thanks. Is there a maximum limit to the number of reffings that you would like to do? I'm guessing at the moment that you'd never have to do more than three at once, but if you'd prefer to do less, do let me know.

I generally only take five reffings at once, though I could take a few more easily enough. It might not be a good idea to pile too many on me, though, since I might be forced to devote quite a bit of time to studying for my exams at the end of January.

I'll ref too then I guess; generyllt he more battles I have the quicker I try to ref the worse the actual reffing is, but I can take as many as you need me to.

QUOTE (Negrek @ the sign-up rules)
you must choose a pokémon type to center your gym around, know that you must have at least three pokémon of your gym's type ready to go before you can open it, and no pseudo-types are allowed (i.e. charizard may not be used for a dragon-type gym).

You've got some purchasing to do if you want to open a Dragon Gym. =/

Do you still wish to participate for a dragon-type gym, Salazard-san?

Well, Salazard-san has not responded, so for the moment he'll be left out.

Sign-up is now officially over; I'll put together the teams and opponents and have those up later today or tomorrow.

wait, let me try make a tournament tree, I'm wondering how we'll pull off 6 teams...

(Posted Image)
[if that stretches screen, do tell]

because having three teams in round two would be weird, unless we suddenly switched to round robin...

also, can teams have names? :D Then I can easily edit that table to make a nice, fancier one. :D

It stretches the screen, but only because this monitor is old an' crappy.

You can certainly have team names if you so desire. For now they're all just numbered.

The three-match setup of the first round makes it a little awkward, but here's the way it's going to work:

Round One: Three battles, six teams
Round Two: The three winning teams from round one, plus a team composed of the two trainers who managed to last the longest against one of the winning teams.
Round Three: The two winning teams from round two
Round Four: The members of the winning teams from round three square off to determine the final ranking.

And here is the prize structure:

Round One: Each winner gets $6 and a catch/evolve; the ref gets $8
Round Two: Each winner gets $9 and a catch/evolve; the ref gets $12
Round Three: Each winner gets $12 and a catch/evolve; the ref gets $18

First Place: $75, a catch/evolve, and a gym
Second Place: $50, a catch/evolve, and a gym
Third Place: $25, a catch/evolve, and a gym
Runner-Up: $15 and a catch/evolve

And now, what you've actually been waiting for...

Round One Matches

Monkeysaurus and Music Dragon (Team 1) vs Cheetah Inferno and Sling (Team 2) (ref opaltiger)
sandmouse and opaltiger (Team 3) vs Blueeyess202 and Negrek (Team 4) (ref Zhorken)
Dark Nido and Crystylla (Team 5) vs honalululand and Zhorken (Team 6) (ref Negrek)

I'll go off to make the threads and send the appropriate PM's.

Edit: because the usernames make the topic titles too long, you'll need to check out your team number in order to find the correct thread.

question: wouldn't it make more sense for all final round people to get a gym, so that next tournament we have eight gyms, then an E4 tournament within the leaders, then another tournament for the last four leaders - it'd make more sense, and be generally more time efficient.

maybe $100 for fist place, 75 for second, 50 for third, and nothing, only gym, for fourth? or something.

also, how will the last round be decided? semi finals and a match for third place then finals, or everyone against everyone?

edit - disregard that last part.

The five other gyms are made when people defeat all the existing ones, methinks.
