Okay, first I want you to wait until she gets that barrier up, then we'll try something interesting - see, Brick Break smashes Reflect and Light Screen, right? I'm guessing this shield that protects him from vacuum is something similar (or at least works on a similar basis) so I want you to try Brick Break it, and see what happens. It's gonna be pretty tough for him to hold that shield up even if you do fail, though, which is good. If the shield is down, good. If it isn't, I want you to try and use your own Psychic to block his attempts of a shield - you're part Psychic, he's DARK I'm willing to bet your powers are stronger. If the shield is down, shake things up with an Earthquake - ignore the Mud Slap, hitting stuff with EQ isn't that hard. Anyway, zero gravits, so the mud probably won't hang around for long.

Finally, use Brick Break again regardless of what happens (but wait for it to attack first so you have a clear shot.)

=opaltiger vs surskitty=

-------

Grimacing at the unearthly, rushing cold and clinging with both arms and legs onto a dented railing, opaltiger quickly unclips a Pokéball from his waist with a deft movement. The loose Pokéball is sucked away towards the gaping void at a terrifying speed, its occupant released as a red stream of light which darts a safe distance back into the ship. It swiftly forms into an odd creature comprised of a roughly round, metallic, blue body and four hefty legs almost like thick blue steel spider legs tucked under its body. Beady, red eyes gleam coldly from behind the strange, grey metal cross on its face.

After a short, panicked interval in which two emergency first aid-trained Alakazam are released in order to provide a breathable atmosphere around trainers and referee before the air runs out, the bizarre battle resumes...

-------

Start-of-Round Status

[Ra] :metagross: (X)
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Status: Aware of the cold, but more concerned with the fact that staying stationary requires it to consciously resist the tug of the rushing air a little.

Attacks ordered: Brick Break ~ Psychic/Earthquake ~ Brick Break

[Nightshade] :umbreon: (M)
Health: 63%
Energy: 94%
Status: Bloodied, burnt and trying desperately to stop himself being sucked into cold, open space.

Attacks ordered: Psychic (form air bubble) ~ Mud Slap/Faint Attack/Protect ~ Mud Slap/Faint Attack/Protect

-------

Round Seven

Nightshade, despairing at his hopeless situation, hastily follows his trainer's commands. Baring his ivory-white fangs and focusing all his mental might on giving himself a breathable atmosphere, he traps oxygen from the air rushing around him and constructs a small bubble of still, oxygen-rich air, laced with faintly glimmering purple psychic energy. The Umbreon is aware of the difficulty of his task, which seems slightly aided by the purified state of the ship, and is thankful for that ironic fact - he doubted he could have managed to do this at all without the ship's affinity for Psychic effects. Ra, watching with some interest (and slight morbid amusement at the Umbreon's need to breathe), observes Nightshade as he suddenly drops limp onto the patch of floor encapsulated in the bubble of calm and normality, taking deep, thankful breaths, though all the time nervous of the fact that his oxygen supply is limited by the amount of air he could trap.

While the Umbreon is slumped and recovering from his effort, Ra floats against the current of air towards Nightshade's shining dome. Sizing it up calmly, it raises a heavy leg effortlessly as it approaches and is about two metres away from the psychic dome when the atmosphere suddenly changes: the last of the air rushes out from the corners and cracks of the ship, from distant corridors and rooms, and escapes the ship through the gaping hole. The cold sharply deepens, and the silence is suddenly apparent - without the incredible flow of air, all is still. The atmosphere inside the ship is now no different from the outer reaches of space, save for Nightshade's oxygen bubble. The sudden change in atmosphere startles Ra a little, and it is frustrated to find that it cannot move. Puzzled and worried, it flails its legs and finds that it stays in place. Its four brains try to figure out what is wrong, and come up with an answer: its normal method of manipulating gravity and the air around it to float isn't working, because there is no air or gravity to manipulate. Slightly panicked, the blue metal beast wonders despairingly: well, how does everyone ELSE move around in space, then?

Nightshade, meanwhile, licks his wounds nervously in his small bubble of normal atmosphere and wonders what is going on. Why doesn't Ra attack? Well, he thanks his lucky stars for it, either way. The Umbreon shrugs the question off, getting to his feet silently. In the bubble of still air, his movement is not hindered. Turning his back on his opponent, he starts to rake at the metal under his feet with his hind paws. As the annoyed Metagross watches, wet earth materialises under the furiously-working paws, before flying through the air after a final decisive kick from Nightshade. The mud flies easily through the air, and, thanks to its momentum, continues to travel in the same direction after passing into the frigid space atmosphere. Ra, having worked out what the Umbreon was up to long ago, continues to squirm and flail, but can't move to avoid the attack. The mud hits him square on the face and sends him drifting backwards slowly. Scowling and scraping at the sullied metal cross with his forearms, he hits a crooked railing with a quiet but resounding clang, and comes to rest just in front of it - approximately five metres from the Umbreon who clearly can't believe his luck.

Fuming, Ra takes a different approach to bursting Nightshade's cosy little bubble. Ignoring the mud crusting on his face, he instead seeks to grip the psychic energy lacing the bubble, which he manages quite easily, and proceeds to tear it apart mentally. The faint purple net holding the air in place frays, rips, and fades, and the oxygen contained within it is sucked out in the blink of an eye. Nightshade is plucked, wide-eyed and terrified, from the floor by the rush of air, and frantically pedals his paws helplessly, to no avail. But this is the least of his problems. Eyes bulging, it is clear that he cannot survive for long without oxygen. After a quick, extremely nervous glance from the ref, directed at the two emergency first aid Alakazam, they form a small bubble of oxygen around the Umbreon's muzzle, similar to that given to the trainers and ref. The ref directs a hard stare at opaltiger that says very firmly "what are you trying to do, KILL him?!", but he is too busy watching the battle to notice. Meanwhile, still terrfied, Nightshade takes shallow breaths, his eyes still wide with shock. He might be able to breathe now, but he can't move now any more than his opponent can. Metagross stares with a mixture of smug satisfaction and indignation at the referee's intervention.

Gathering his thoughts again and trying to calm down, Nightshade recalls his orders. Mud Slap if it worked out, Faint Attack otherwise. Well, Mud Slap worked reasonably well, didn't it? About as well as he could expect to be able to attack in that position. So, he scrabbles furiously at the ground under his feet in the familiar ritualistic movement, except... there is no ground. His paws wave uselessly in the airless atmosphere. No ground, no mud. Damn it hisses the Umbreon in his native tongue.

Ra recalls his orders quickly, too. Brick Break, no matter what? The Metagross gives his trainer a questioning stare, but nevertheless tries again. Leaning forward in an attempt to shift his weight in that direction a little, he tries to propel himself forwards once more, meeting with as little success as Nightshade. Damn it echoes the Metagross mentally.

-------

End-of-Round Status

[Ra] :metagross: (X)
Health: 95%
Energy: 91%
Status: Floating immobile nearly five mtres from Nightshade. Irritated at his inability to move, but doesn't find simply surviving in space to be a problem...

[Nightshade] :umbreon: (M)
Health: 59%
Energy: 74%
Status: Trying to stay calm, but (understandably) utterly terrified after nearly suffocating to death. Now able to breathe due to an emergency bubble of oxygen over his muzzle, but floating helplessly about 50cm off the floor, and feeling frustrated and a little tired.

-------

Other

The end of the Ravager is rent wide open, revealing a vast starscape like scattered diamonds on deep blue velvet. However, this means that there is now no air or gravity inside the shell of the battered ship. Both battlers float frustratedly in place, finding their movements severely hindered by this fact.

-------

Notes:

- This was a damn hard round to ref, you know that? o_o
- That stunt with the psychic air bubble? That took kinda major energy. =/
- Don't kill me, opal. =D;;;
- Criticise my decisions as far as physics in space are concerned (or anything else, for that matter) and suffer a horrible, oxygen-deprived death, m'kay?
- Ordering moves: opal next
- Then the Floop

okay yeah laws of physics say I would've won this by now but then those annoying laws of fairness come in. :(

okay Ra, what I want you to do is erect a Light Screen around you; now, I know this is powered by psychic energies, and I know you can move it around, so I'd like you to try and use it as a springboard so you can move around. If that works, I want you to charge in for a nice Brick Break - wait for him to attack first so you have a clear line of fire. If it doesn't work, use Meteor Mash to bring down the heavens on your opponent. :0 If a meteor hits you, your steel-yness should be a good defence.

Finally, use Double Team to give us some breathing space.

Okay, we're doomed. Start with a Flash; that might give you a bit of time. Then, to get around the brick break/meteor mash, bring up a Protect. Let's finish this with your own Double Team.

*laughs at banner ads at bottom of page*

anyway, seeing as this is a truly bizzare situation and poor Cryssie will have a nightmare reffing this next round, I'm willing to offer a draw.
