New to custom bike, but I have a question about rim size. what size are the rims on a Dyno Roadster? will these work?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-Nexus-4-Speed-...=item2c518cd076 Anyone know were I can get a 3, 4 or 7 speed Shimano in a 72 spoke setup? Thanks |

I don't see any reason why those wheels shouldn't work. unless those wheels are made out of some special road bike material, they are over priced in my opinion.

Welkom, If you want a wheel with 72 or 144 spokes and gearyou have to make them yourself. For a shimano 3 speed there are adapters: http://chopperdome.nl/index.php?module=sho...bcategoryID=104 http://chopperdome.nl/index.php?module=sho...bcategoryID=104 If you want more gear you have to make the adapters you self likei did. See in your ride : The bikes of killa good luck. -------------------- It can always go worse

I would check your local CraigsList to see if you can find a 3 or 5 speed bike with coaster brake, then swap the wheels out with the ones you already have and then resale the bike as a one speed. That is a good way of doing the same thing for less money. Of course, if that isn't a concern of yours, then go ahead and buy those on eBay.
Killa is right about the 72 or 144 spoke wheels with a geared hub. If you really spent some time looking on the internet, I bet you would still have a hard time finding a wheelset like that someone was willing to actually sell. If you build them, then you will want to keep them. -------------------- I should probably be doing some work right now......

This should answer your question well. These are pics of a kustom kruiser with a 24" Rear wheel with Shimano Nexus 7 hub and a Nirve "Phat Ass" Whitewall. I don't kniw much about the bike since I got these pics off of craigslist. The guy is selling the bike for $650. Heres the actual link to the add - http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/bik/1474780502.html

I took the one off my Schwinn and it did not fit, the hub was about 1/2 to wide. |

Aha! And here we all are thinking you we're talking about wheel diameter... On most Dyno's and older KK's the space between the rear drop-out's is around 110mm. That will easily take a Nexus 3. With some help of a fork-spreader I put a Nexus 7 in there (about 130mm wide) so I think that 1/2" is something you can work with. -------------------- |
