Ok, as most role playing forums, we got some rules for how to improve the role playing experience. This mostly goes on you players, so please do read AND obey. smile.gif

Please do remember that these rules are for ALL the RPGs at the site!

Character personalities
Ever bumped into a so-called "Mary Sue" when role playing? For those who doesn't know what that term means, it is simply a goody-good character with not a single flaw. And, hey, that IS pretty annoying in the long run! Even though this is a fantasy based role play, please do keep character personalities somewhat realistic, that is; no one is perfect.

Ways of writing
Not everyone is perfect writers, I am very far from that myself. However, we do ask for some standards here at Hurane, like for instance using spell check before posting a RP-message and keeping the language somewhat accurate and most important: Possible to understand.

I've seen examples of bad writing often:
QUOTE
"Hya wont u com here???!" i said "Yeah!!!!11" he said "Kewl!" i said and then we went for the hill to slay some beasts!!!!

This is a good example or a horrid post in many ways:

  • Computer/SMS-language, like "U", "Kewl" and such.

  • A whole lot of exclamation- and question marks.

  • No commas or stops.

  • Generally bad writing, to to write with a better flow.

  • In this role play, don't write in "I"-person. Write as 3rd person (He, she, it) instead.

A better version of the example above would be something like this:
QUOTE
"Hey, you! Won't you come over here?" <insert name> called out to his friend. "I'm coming!" his friend replied, walking steadily over to <insert name>. He had a big grin on his face, the grin which always appeared when he was hungry for a fight. <Insert name> nodded, and they went with light, yet heavy, steps over to the hill to fight the battle of their lives.

More to come.
