Welcome to Roleplay Refuge. The first thing that we'd all like to say, aside from 'Welcome' of course, is that we are not just a multi-genre board with two or three different areas, but a multi-genre board where nearly all genres are available- and if you don't see it, throw it into the Miscellaneous section!
We are not 'Beginner,' 'Intermediate,' OR 'Advanced,' but all of the above, where brand new first-time roleplayers and old hats can come together and just have a good time writing. If there's anything you'd like to see on the site, or if you'd like to ask a few questions, please feel free to let us know. :)

Don't forget, after you register, a validation e-mail is sent to you, and then you must post in the correct forum, entitled 'New Members' and wait for your post to be approved and you to get moved up in rank to normal member status! (To prevent spam)

News Here you can find major updates that are important enough not to be in the welcome box. This may include site rule changes, removal/addition of forums, etc.
Welcome center This is a place for all new, approved members ((and some older ones too!)) to post a short blurb about themselves or introduce themselves to everyone. This area holds useful information about the coding, terms, and other basic aspects of roleplay refuge, sort of like tutorials.
Training New to roleplaying? Want to learn how? Want to work on your writing skills/spelling/grammar? Contact a staff member with what genre you would like, a plot (if you have one) and he/she will set up a one on one roleplay for you to learn in. The staff member will help you learn about the concepts of cooperative writing- which is roleplaying- about godmoding, powerplaying, and metagaming, or help you improve your overall writing, as well as running posts through a grammar/spell check to help catch any errors.
Who knows, maybe you can even help the staff get better! There's ALWAYS room for improvement.
Fantasy Fantasy roleplays may be found here, including, but not limited to, high fantasy, original fantasy, and re-created fantasy- which is a sort of based roleplay that is drastically altered to the point where only the base concept remains. Whatever sort, have fun with it!
Horror Roleplays here should be scary, spine chilling, or downright creepy. Zombies, evil circuses, graveyards, and the like are the things you are likely to find here. These roleplays are generally gothic in nature.
Were-Creatures Roleplays centering around creatures such as werewolves, windigos, werecrocodiles, and any other sort of were-being (one being changing into an animal form (up to 5-6), excluding shapeshifters (which may take any form)) may be found here.
Other-Worldly Roleplays If your roleplay is set in space, in another Science-fiction like world, or on a spaceship, maybe even a distant planet or moon, start it in here. (The setting should be heavily based about being at an extraterrestrial location.)
Mutant and General Science-Fiction Roleplays If your roleplay features heavily around mutants or is a sci-fi roleplay, set on Earth, it should be sarted here. (Any future-based roleplays should be started in the Specified Time Period Roleplays forum.)
Romance and Drama Roleplays Any roleplay that has a central theme of love and/or strong emotions, such as tragedies or Soap-Opera type plots and themes may be found here.
Please note, If the roleplay becomes sexually explicit in material, you must use a blackout or a time skip; there are younger people on the internet as well, remember.
Time Period Roleplays For roleplays set in a specific time period, please use the appropriate sub-forums, labeled as Past, Present, Future, and Post Apocalyptic. What should appear within these forums will also be explained in their forum descriptions.
Main Forum Here there will be, eventuallly, a series of subforums for those members who have a sound idea for a large, over arching plot. After it is reviewed by staff and approved as being one that can be carried for a good while, it will gain its own titled subforum. Please see sticky for details.
Literature and/or Roleplay help Do you need help with a name for a place, character or item? Maybe you want a really cool description for an evil artifact? Whatever help you need that is for a plot, ask here.
requests Do you need a piece of art? Need some practice? Want to trade art? Ask here, but be polite, people are doing this for free, remember, and on their own time.
Poetry and Short Stories If you would like to present a poem or a short story that you have writtten, please post it here. People need not reply to these topics.
Help If you need help with art, a peice of writing, hmework, computer stuff, coding, or whatever else, just start a topic here and someone will try to help you.

Criticisms and Website Suggestions If you think that something about the website is incorrect, please state politely (or we shall ignore you and remove your topic) what problem you're having here. If you just think the website needs that little something extra, make a suggestion here as well.
Character/Roleplay Documentation Threads This area is to keep a running record of your characters. A good way is to have one thread, with each post being a new character. Sheets are highly recommended. Here, you may also keep a track of topic introductions that you may wish to use, recorded in the same manner.
