Hello, I am new to all of this. My daughter fell in love with rainbow brite. She is asking for stormy and moonglo for christmas. She hardly ever asks for anything as she is quite content with what she has. I have about 6 extra RB dolls that I can use to make a custom stormy and moonglo. She does not like the "real" marketed moonglo because she "doesn't look like the one on Rainbow Brite shows".
I was wondering if anyone can direct me to instructions on how to do this. I can definatly sew, and I am a little crafty, so, I think I can handle this project if i can just get my hands on the "how to".
I really appriciate anyone's response. Thanks So much!!!
lots of members here make or have made customs, each member has different talents, baby doll is the most talented though! i know a lot of members have patterns but not sure where they got them
http://liwa.gaproductions.com/RootHair.htmlShe has a tutorial on how to do the hair here ^-^.
As for patterns I think she may have taken apart a dress probablyin bad condition and used it as a basis for the pattern. There is also that RB rag doll pattern you cvould make some rag dolls ^-^ I would love some myself.
Thank you for your help. I ended up taking a doll apart and using it to make a pattern. As far as the clothes go, I make my daughter clothes without patterns, so, hopefully that part won't be that bad.
I love the tutorial on rerooting hair, and the suggestions for paint. Those were my most concerning elements.
I think I found the ird???? (iradescentsp??) film that I can apply to the fabric to give it sheen. Know, i just have to make a few decisions on color.
I am making a Stormy doll. I am trying to decide whether I want one that looks like the actual one on Rainbow brite, or the one that they were going to manufactur. Or, I might get creative and make a mix of both of them. I found a yarn that gradiates from plum, to fuschia, to a light gray color. It might be fun to do that also.
I am also going to make a Moonglo. I want one that is dressed like the actual one portrayed on rainbow brite in more of the blue outfit. I will have to see though. I may just make a dress and try to find a naked moonglo dolly somewhere.
Anyways, thanks again!!!
