A Few Words about Our Future

This has been a trying week for everyone. We at the BPD realize that you all have questions and hope that this brief statement can help answer some of them.

We are as disheartened and disappointed as many of you by the recent news regarding both Guiding Light and Crystal Chappell's move to Days. All of the things you are feeling are valid and welcome on this board. We encourage you to share your feelings with us and each other. This is your home and that's what we're here for.

Rest assured that the BPD is going nowhere and will continue to support, fight for and love Guiding Light and Otalia until the show is picked up or it leaves broadcast television. And we will still fight. We will fight for a show we love to find a new home. We will fight for a couple we adore and who inspired this board. Most importantly we will fight and campaign for an ending to the storyline that we can be proud of and that continues to hold the story in a positive light for history to reflect upon. Beyond that we will keep the story alive in many ways both on the board and in our hearts. Otalia will never ever leave us.

The future of the show may be murky but the future of the board is not. We will continue to support the creative team that has brought this show and the groundbreaking Otalia storyline to the screen. Wherever Crystal, Jessica, Jill, Ellen or any other actor you have an interest in ends up, we plan to follow and support them in their efforts; with PBPs, podcasts, updates, articles, threads and discussion. Crystal and Jessica will of course always hold a special place in our hearts and they will always be at the forefront of the board started in the honour of Otalia, the couple they brought to life. It is our connection and inclusion to and by them that helps make this board what it has become and we here at BPD have no reason to believe that will change.

Lastly and most importantly BPD is about all of you. The membership is what drives this board and makes it the wonderful, united and warm place that it has become. Without you, BPD is just a message board and not a community, not a family. The relationships built here are lasting and are the best thing that could ever have come out of this experience.

As Kent Nerburn said: Be gentle with yourselves and each other. Be patient with us. Tell us what you think and how you feel. We will get through this together.

Very proud to be a part of this wonderful community... as long as it's here, I'll be here!

Thank you to ALL the admin of the BPD. You've created this wonderful home for 5100+ of us to join in and feel incredibly warm and comforted, even when there's disagreements or talking people off the ledge. It's been such an amazing experience that I've ever been part of, and has been my privilege to be part of since I joined in February.

The camaraderie that so many of us have formed here on the BPD, in AfterDark and through meetups has gone beyond the pale in comparison. It's been a joy!

I've only had one other experience within fandom that's lasted 15 plus years. I certainly believe that the friendships formed here will last a long time because of what has brought us together - an amazing love story, told without labels, with respect towards religion and family, and a love of a show that's overcome a lot in the past two years.

Thank you to all of the BPD Admins, Thank you to Ellen Wheeler and Jill Lorie Hurst, and Thank you to Jessica Leccia and Crystal Chappell for being kick-ass Goddesses!

I love this board and the people who make this and AD so much fun. Things are changing and it's difficult, but change can be good. I love that this story has affected so many and is becoming an important part of tv history. I love that I have been a part of it. Disappointed though we may be, let's not forget all of the good that has come from this experience. I wish CC, JL, JLH, and EW, and the rest of the cast and crew all the best. And, I'm not going anywhere.

For the whole board, because we at BPD are amazing.

We have strength and determination that surpasses so much else in the world. When we set our minds to something, we can accomplish that and more. We work together because we are a family and we support the wonderful love story that is Otalia.

I am indebted forever to CC, JL, JLH, and EW for this storyline, as well as everyone at GL who contributed. It's such an amazing love story that there is no other way to feel. They made it real and they had the patience, intelligence, and bravery to take on something that many other soaps have failed.

I will campaign for the end of this story to play out in the way that I feel it should. I will always support and keep fighting for GL to stay in syndication, in any way possible, and no matter what happens, I will always be forever impacted and grateful for the BPD.

The BPD is a second home to many, filled with laughter, love, and an ounce of snark. Desti, Mel, Christi, and all the admins starting something special... and each and every member adds to this vibrant, diverse, and overwhelmingly positive community. I am proud of what this community has become: a family.

I will continue to be here & continue to support CC & JL. These women have given so much of themselves to us and our community that I feel compelled to give back and support them. (It also doesn't hurt that they are insanely talented.) They will forever be a part of this family.

We are all family here and will continue to fight the good fight..I'm very proud to be apart of such a wonderful group.

As it's been said, I have connected. I have invested. I will do anything and everything for my family and those within it. This is my family.. not a singular sensation bent upon following one vein or one path.. but all of them no matter where they lead.

I'm not going anywhere I will have love and positivity in every step of the way that we all take together. Side by side, back to back, hand in hand or carrying you.. I know I will go anywhere with each one of you into the future.

Though, I don't post often, I love coming here and seeing what's going on with everyone. I get really excited when I go to other boards and recognize names from here. It's like what everyone is doing is making a difference. I plan on continuing to come here up until and long after September 18th, whether GL finds another home or not.

I am excited about Days of Our Lives and look forward to all the great stuff to come for Crystal. I honestly feel like this storyline has brought her the attention she deserves...She has quickly become my favorite actress, and that'saying a lot, I am a HUGE TV fan. I also look forward to seeing where Jessica ends up. She has the potential to be a big time star!
