I HATE MY COMPUTER!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!!
*huff puff* This thing hasn't worked properly since the day it was delivered. It was out of order for like 3 months because of a hard drive malfuction. It constantly has programming problems, always freezes up, and today... oh god today!!
Today, I put a CD into the rom, guess what it did... it ate it! I've never seen a CD in so many peices in my life, if my video cam was working I'd show you a picture. There are still some peices in there too, so I can't use my CD rom. Was one of my favorite games as well, so not only do I have to figure out how to get all the pieces out of there, not to mention figure out why it only opens when I turn the computer on and not when I try to open it, but buy my game again!
When I finally replace this peice of junk, I am taking it into the backyard and beating it until it looks like the CD it just broke!!
Rant over!

Literally LMAO! I know it's not funny, but it is! I just can't imagine going through all the bad luck you've had with computers. You know, some people's body chemistry just isn't compatible with electronics. I think it's a documented fact. Maybe you're one of those unlucky few! Jeesh! Actually ATE a CD. I can honestly say I've never heard or even imagined that could happen. Poor thing! At least CD-rom's are pretty cheap. You should just take that out of your computer and replace it with a new one? Then take the old CD-rom out back and beat the $hit out of it! Do you have a bat? LOL Jude

Thing is we have an older computer from 2000 that still works, and is still going strong. I never had a problem with it, not once. It's the damn Windows XP crap, the worst windows program ever released. It doesn't have a DOS mode, so it makes things impossible. It has errors and bad patches that screw up more then it fixes.
It's this damn Compaq Presario, that just can't seem to work for more then a minute. I know HP and Compaq are the same company, but my HP has very few problems. Oh and better yet, since Windows XP doesn't have DOS, it is practically surgery to try and reinstall Windows onto it. Because it doesn't read the DVD drive until Windows is installed and I have to remove my video card otherwise the reinstall doesn't work, so I have to use the CD writer to read my disks.
Too bad it has 2.8 processing speed, otherwise I would throw it too my boyfriend and take our old 900 processor computer.
I am pretty computer savvy, it's just this computer. It's the spawn of Satan!!!

Nope, doesn't have a true DOS mode, only a command prompt that you can access through windows.
I know what you mean, I have 2.8 processor and 512 ram on my computer, and it can barely handle one game, that only needs half of those resources. One of my games crashes the computer everytime I turn it off. Either I have faulty parts or XP is a total piece of junk. Some people swear by it, but give me Windows ME anyday of the week.
Like I said before, XP won't install on my computer when I have other items not orginally installed on my computer... speakers, cameras, video cards, etc. That whole three months that I was without my computer, that was my problem, but none of the tech guys ever figured it out... out of like 8 people that we talked to. I have never had that happen to me in all my life of using computers, and I still forget when I try to re-install windows, cause that is really dumb. Of course, if I forget and try to re-install, I then lose everything on my computer. Nice, huh?
The single most worst product to ever come out of Microsoft... period!

Been a while since anyone posted in this topic, but I thought I would add my happiest moment of the week to this. Most have noticed that I haven't been around much lately, mostly because I was sick. However, there was another problem. After my computer ate that cd, it got a really nasty virus and it took me a month to get it off my computer. I couldn't use just a virus scanner it wouldn't work. I had to use a program that would delete certain programs in my computer before they started up when I turned on my computer. Unfortunately somehow now my internet explorer is messed up, and because I can't replace my CD rom right now, I can't reinstall windows. My internet explorer takes FOREVER to load anything, and this forum is the worst and then I get like 3 popups which take forever to load and then I can't turn them off until they do load cause it's frozen. Anyway, I decided to download Netscape Explorer to see if they would work while I wait. I don't really care for Netscape, but for now it's my knight in shiny aluminium. It works, so I hope to be around here a bit more... and perhaps updating my wesbites more often again. Better yet, it actually blocks the pop-ups that I get from this website.

Yeah, I've been having problems with Internet Explorer as well, so I did some online research and just about everyone was raving about Firefox...so I have both on my computer now. It seems to work OK and it's supposed to be safer to surf with than IE. I had a strange problem happen with my home computer with XP. My computer recommended that I needed to update my graphics driver to get rid of potential problems and crashes. I did it without thinking but then most of my applications stopped working, especially peripherals like my printer, digital camera, external DVD writer. I basically had to uninstall all of the programs and reinstall. It wasn't recommended to undo the driver update, since that could cause more of a nightmare, but at least everthing is working again. Just get the occassional glitch now and then. Oh well, that's life with computers. Jude
