This is a prompt that I found on a website that BSolah suggested in the writer's block thread.
It says to start writing with the words, "I wish someone told me". Anyone responding to this, feel free to write your own prompt using this. Try to write for ten minute straight. You can continue on the topic I have created or write your own. Or even just reply to what I have written. It's nothing amazing, but here you go.
My "I wish someone told me" ten minute prompt.
I wish someone told me that there were other people in the world that fed off the misery of others. They see someone doing well or becoming better then they are, and consciously decide to go out of their way to ruin how that person feels. Someone could be on top of the world, but as soon as they cross paths with this misery lover, it can all vanish for a time. It will take friend after friend to undo what the misery lover has done to this once happy person. What good do others get out of seeing another person suffer because of something they said. In my life, I have always tried to speak to someone the way that I want to be spoken to. I’ve always wanted to ensure that even when I was disagreeing with someone, that they felt comfortable enough to disagree back. Yet, this misery lover seems to find me on a good day, when I am feeling the best, and they choose to steal my happiness away. A happiness that I earned for myself, and no matter how hard I try to shake the dark imprints they left, they are burned in my subconscious. Maybe I am not as good as I once thought, or perhaps I did squeeze my way in on that promotion that should have been someone else’s. Friends will come to you and explain that the person is nothing but a naysayer. That in their hearts they know you are as good as your happiness had once made you feel. But now the gathering of pride and happiness must start anew. I no longer have that mound of bliss stored up, because it was taken from me. I must start a new mound, and hope in time that that one person’s words fade. How is it that a thousand voice can cheer out in your favor, and that one voice of hatred can be so much louder then they are?
