Hey all! Been kind of quiet around here. Becca, you must be working hard on one (or several) of your books! smile.gif Wish I could get back to mine or start a new one. I actually did start writing the other day. I wrote about 4 pages before I stopped but haven't gotten back to it. I think it will be a short story and will post it here as soon as I get it done. Wish me luck on keeping the creative juices flowing long enough. LOL

Anyway, I have been corresponding with a gal named Milli from http://www.fearofwriting.com. She has written a book about how to overcome writer's block or a fear of writing. She gave me one of her books for free, in exchange for offering one of my autographed books as a prize to a writing contest she will be having on her site. I'll post the specifics once I know them, but be sure to check out her site.

I plan on giving her autographed book away on my site, but need some ideas on how to do this. I don't know if I should do a writing contest, like Milli is doing or something different. Any suggestions? I know that Becca will probably have some good ideas, so let me have 'em, gal! LOL

Actually my problem is the exact opposite of what you think. I fell pretty sick with a nasty cold... well, I thought it was the flu. Turns out that my boyfriend was accidently giving me an overdose of medication, because he didn't read the instructions. So, I was vomiting and just really ill. He felt really bad when I figured it out... by reading the instructions when I had to take it myself. Anyway, I am getting better now, and odds are against him reading instructions anytime soon.

Ideas for a contest to give away an autographed book? Hmm, I wish I could say that the ideas were just flowing, but my mind is just not working for me. I do have a few though.

1. You could do a writing contest where they have to start or end the story with a phrase that you make up.

2. It has to be about a specific thing, such as a car trip etc.

3. Could ask it to be fan fiction from one of your novels... free one probably best so everyone has access to it... or not.

That's all I have for now, I'll give it some more thought. I will also try to think of something that doesn't have to do with writing.

Due to my sickness, I haven't written anything, which is always bad. I am trying a short story myself, though it's a little on the rated R side, so it probably won't appear here. Mostly, I am doing some spring cleaning on my website, trying to repair any errors and checking all my directory links to ensure everything is working. I just can't write when my mind is all hazzy with a cold... though I have been reading over some of my novels and fixing errors... hopefully not creating more though.

Well, dang, I hope you feel better soon! That sucks that you've been overdosing due to your b/f not reading directions. That reminds me of a time when I was really sick and my roommate handed me two pills and a glass of water. I was so sick that I almost took them without asking her what they were. I'm allergic to the drug in Tylenol, which is in the majority of cold drugs on the market, and she had handed me one of them. Talk about almost buying the farm. I accidentally took just one of those thinking it was a vitamin and it nearly killed me. I'm sure two of them would have done me in for sure! Always important to make sure you get the right drug in the right amount, that's for sure!!!!

Thanks for the tips! They're all good, and I'm sure you'll come up with something else when you're feeling more like yourself. smile.gif

Oh yeah, when you get your R story done, feel free to post it on my group. Just put the rating in the description. LOL...You know I'd love to read it!

Maybe you could try posting a pic and get people to write a story using that as inspiration. I'm doing that on the new forum that I opened on my site.

Sorry to hear about the cold, Bec. I can't say I know how you feel because I haven't been sick in many years.

Writing for me has been on and off, with spurts here and there. At the moment, I'm kind of in a period just after a spurt, though I feel I haven't used all of the spurt up yet. Though, last week I finished editing a short story and sent it to Wicked Karnival magazine. So, hopefully it'll see the light of day soon.
