I can't give you a genre of movie but if you are a HK film fanatic, you know what each one of them is capable of.

Anthony Wong vs Eric Tsang
They could both look demonic, do comedies. Anthony could look freaky too and Eric could play the trash, triad and the cheeky....

Francis Ng vs Andy Lau
Francis is proving himself to be extremely versatile now that he has been given a greater range of roles. I've seen him gentle, loving, sad, downtrodden, psychotic....apart from being mean....sigh, he's good. Andy is extremely effective as a cool dude...haha...very much so. His Love on Diet and Running on Karma were very good acting, so was Needing You.

Chow Yun Fat vs Tony Leung vs Stephen Chow
I don't think anyone could do better than Stephen Chow to make us laugh. Tony is capable of both good serious roles and comedic roles, but I like Tony more in depressed roles.

Having said that all that, Chow seems to embody all that - comedic, depressed mode, cool and suave looking, angry, mean, loving, gentle.

My vote goes to him.

hahaha, what a coincidence. i just came back from a theater after seeing Johnnie To's The Mission(1999) that features both Anthony Wong and Francis Ng. it was a special retrospective of Johnnie To in LA area. ok, so my vote went to Anthony Wong. other times, it would've given to Tony, Andy, or Chow Yun-fat. but tonigt, Anthony, hahaha. :lol:

I've seen more films by Tony Leung and Stephen Chow than the others, so it came down to those two for me. I think Stephen is an awesome filmaker--period! I like the way his mind thinks and the way he's able to translate that to film.

But if your talking about acting, I had to go with Tony. The man makes what he does look easy when it's not! Awesome, awesome actor!! :D But Stephen is ever so close behind him. (Thanks for including him on the list Kimurafan!)

But I voted Andy finally. I think I haven't seen CYF movie for too long :D Time to do something with it ;)

i voted for tlcw - i think he is one of the very best actors in the world, if not the best.

...this is indeed a tough choice..good one, kimurafan for coming up wif this ... i racked my brains, gg thru the movies, stared at this monitor for 10 full min b4 i decide to gif Wong the credit. he can handle almost anything, man~ from trashy shows to fine pieces, from commercial to artistic, and from baddies to the righteous. the best part is, he is convincing in all the roles. and he doesnt overshine the rest of the cast. he's juz playin his role. thumbs up~

....but in my heart, Shingo Katori is the best actor. :P

My vote goes to Tony Leung Chiu Wai, because he has a special place in my heart having watched him develop as an actor for over 20 years, since his rookie days at TVB. If Leslie Cheung was in this poll, I'd vote for him in first place and Tony in second place. Chow Yun Fat will come in at a close third place. These three HK actors are the best and far above all the rest. B)

I think this is Tony Leung. He's a great dramatic actor. Just extra class.

i see his face and i laugh... enough said.. thats like jim carey trying to do dramatic roles. He ruined his career, and he is a nobody now doing shitty movies.

Stephen chow has to cut out this artistic thing and make some more mo lei tau movies like he did before.... i really enjoyed him and wong jing together... they made the funniest stuff.

as for an overall i have to say either and lau or tony leung although i like andy laus comedy much much more... but andy can play anything.... so i picked andy
