Painting Competition - Summer 2012

Hello again fellow hobby enthusiasts!

Today I announce that the Summer 2012 Herdstone Painting Competition is under way!

Same rules apply as from previous events (see "pinned" topic on rules also):

This time there is one category:

Category / Theme - "Transformation of Kadon"!

The entry - must be painted and may be converted (most likely) and shall be voted by the public on which they like best.


Timing: Voting begins August 22, 2012 - submissions due in to me by August 15, 2012.

Rules:

1. No Plagiarism: Plagiarism is defined as the act of taking and using another's work as one's own. The entry must have been painted/converted by you. If it was not done by you and you just want to show it off you can post it in the hobby section. Plagiarism will be dealt with harshly, including banning.

2. One photo must include the word herdstone, this can be done by putting a scrap piece of paper in-front or behind the model with herdstone written on it or even painting it on the base!. This is to discourage people from taking an unfair advantage as well as promoting the most awesome WHFB forum out there!

3. For the sake of logistics you may only enter once.

4. Each entry may submit up to three photos of the model (or more if with good reason).

5. Links to the photos can be submitted to me via PM. If you don't know how to upload photos see: uploading photos or ask someone for help.

6. When voting time comes please vote according to the spirit of the rules and please don't ask all your friends to vote for yours and don't get people to sign up new accounts just so they can vote for you and never come back.

7. Entries may have been posted on the Herdstone before, but should have been painted within the last year. Please remember, this is not a popularity contest, but something that is solely driven on the submission.

*Remember, the intent of the competition is to motivate the Herdstone to prepare its armies!

Prizes: Aside from all the fame and fortune, the winner will have some sway over the theme of the next Herdstone Painting Competition!

Anyway, when are submissions due? And I plan on entering a fire dragon with chaos like bits models don't have to be gw correct?

Can someone explain to me what this category is? Or what can be entered? I do not play anymore, so I am unfamiliar with the spells and items. And this has to be related to one or the other.

Transformation of Kadon is the #6 spell from Lore of Beasts. It changes the wizard into one of the following monsters: Feral Manticore, Black Hydra, Horned Dragon, Mountain Chimera, or Great Fire Dragon.

I'm assuming your entry should be one of said monsters.

You forgot one of the main elements: before any of those monsters appear, there's a Great Bray Shaman who casts the spell! So can i enter the Great Bray Shaman?

If the category name was 'Transformation of Kadon Monsters' then I would assume of course no. But 'Transformation of Kadon' is just the name of spell, and Shamans cast spells!

You should totally convert a shaman in mid transformation and enter it! That would be so cool! But as far as normal gbs, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say thats not reallt in the spirit of it....

I know, was just kidding really, trying to sneak my way in seeing as I have a shaman on my painting table!

The mid-transformation conversion idea is awesome, and I really hope someone does it for the competition. Way beyond my modeling skills tho .

If not for the awesome fire dragon conversion i have sitting on my painting table, I definitely would have taken it on.

Good luck guys, I'l have to pass this one. It's a pity it's not a SoM monster in general

tight deadlines. I'll probably whine and moan for a week extensions,.. so I'll need some other people asking as well

I'd be interested in entering this one! Might give me a push to paint something that has been sitting in my painting table for quite some time now.

Do we need to send a before picture? Just asking so I take a photo before *evil laughter* outdoing myself!

Looking forward to this one. I am a bit perplexed as to why we haven't had a rare section painting comp yet when we have so recently been blessed with new minis. But majority rules I guess.

@ charioteer- ghorgon was acceptable in the last painting competition. Although I was thinking about it- this should be transformation/ #6 wild spell (I can't remember the name)
