I finally received my first box of Imperial Infantry this Monday, and spent quite a bit of the following day painting these:

I'm pretty happy with them. The placement of the pikemen on the multi base may not be accurate, but it should be easier to game with, if I ever get to do that.

Traditionally the level pike goes at the front: yes this is a right pain to game with!

On a related note many people who do historical games still insist on using pointed steel pikes (because casting metal is floppy) and this is extremely painful at times!

Nice miniatures - what's the army and date? I get lost / bored after the introduction of the musket...

Good thing most of these are plastic then. wink.gif

I haven't decided who they are, probably some kind of mercenaries fighting for the catholics or the French. They all look the same anyway. They're made by Warlord Games and cost virtually nothing compared to GW minis.

Nice minis, kinda confusing how two of them seem to be able to balance those pikes in the palm of their hand though biggrin.gif Maybe its a superpower

I really like Warlord minis. They look very good mrtn, I have often considered getting some as ecw/tyw appeals to me lol. Are you going to paint up some of Gustavus' troops as well???

Thanks guys!

@Charioteer: They're balanced against the shoulder as well, so it shouldn't be that hard. smile.gif

@Kawazu: Of course I play the evil army, I always do. biggrin.gif That's why I'm not making a Swedish army this time. wink.gif

@ugluk69: This is actually part of a Cunning Plan (m'lord), I thought it would be easier to convince some of my friends to start a Swedish army than to start an imperial one. shrug.gif

Nice models +paintjob! They would also work as Dogs of War I guess if your friends don't fancy playing historicals.

Thanks Mithras. Another idea is to just run them as Empire, with pikes as spearmen. We'll see.

Here is batch number two. Since there are more pike bodies than pikes in the box I converted one of the armoured bodies into some kind of sergeant/captain/boss/whatever they're called. You'll also see some more colour variation.

It's from the same box as the rest. It includes the same stuff as the ECW boxes, but also includes five metal figures (four armoured pikemen and an officer) and lots of metal bits. 12 musket rests, 16 helmets and 16 wide-brimmed hats, half of them with feathers.

Thanks. smile.gif

That's an interesting pose, hadn't thought of using it that way. The idea *will* be stolen.

If you want to know how to make Dragoons out of the plastic models, let me know. I did a test model some time ago. (They are not super accurate, but look ok, and should be cheaper than the metal box, not that it's that expensive compared to some companies...)

Dang I'm getting inspired to do these again. Minus the painting part. Competing blog maybe, hmmm...
