Great army! My personal favorites are these Bestigors/wolf guard and the Beastlord, great horns, no doubt he's the man in charge here.
-------------------- Beware the beast man, for he is the devil's pawn. Alone among god's primates, he kills for sport, or lust, or greed. Yay, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.

Absolutely brutal man, cant say more, for this is pure 40k beastmen awasomeness
The only fact i dislike is that they are supposed to be Grey Knights (as this books is a special case of the word OP) -------------------- Natural Beast - Children of the Great Beast God (my Beastman diary)
Myrdins Empire . . . of the Rising Sun - Warriors of the Nippon Empire (my Empire army) Chronicles of the Beast - Made up lore and stories for my Natural Beastmen |

I'm going to be using the Space wolf codex to play with these guys...For some reason I think the tactic and handling on the table top for the space wolf is similliar with the tactic and handling of beastmen in fantasy. In my head they have more of a dark eldar back story... sort of- a herd going around space pilliging, and raiding what ever ship or place they come across- kind of space vikings I guess..... And Indeed Grey knights are very VERY OP... This post has been edited by mayajid on Apr 27 2012, 03:14 AM -------------------- |

I can only admire the work you've put into this army, congratulations on some fine conversion work, looks stunning! I also like the painting with all the weathering effects.
As Logres mentioned the only glitch in your army for me are the tiny minotaur legs, I would at least try and go for some larger hooves |

Short progress report- Continuing with the project very slowly at this point because I ran out of parts...ordered more, but the curse of living in Thailand and ordering stuff off ebay is that it takes AGES for anything to come even with fed ex and all that. It's torture because you got the time urge and Idea but have to wait for the bits to come.... Bits -the opium of the miniature masses.
Any ways -so I did what I could with what I had on hand while I wait. More rocks for the base ![]() Long horns heard leader (Long fang squad leader) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't ask me why but I'm stupidly proud of these little dudes- Servo skulls ![]() Together you get ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() War gor or shaman (I guess)-(Wolf priest/chapin) ![]() Look they're actually real shoulder pads!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That's it for now...hope the bits come soon.... As I said bits are definitely the opium of the miniature masses....I think I'm currently suffering from withdraws... -------------------- |

Looking great! I can see why you're proud of the servo skulls, it's a good idea.
Hope you get your bits soon. -------------------- Eight Chicky Bits, is that a Chicky Byte?

Something wicked this way drops!
Finally some stuff came!!! So it’s update time on the metal herd… As I mentioned- I’m having a hard time coming up with something for a drop pod, and since a drop pod had arrived in the mail a couple of days ago- I decided to face it head on. Essentially –gaming wise- it is a large model that comes on to the table and sits in that spot for the remainder of the game. In my army list that I use, I only have the one with a deathwind missile upgrade. So looking in the beastmen army book, the only thing that kind of matches this (one big thing that sits on the table and not move anywhere) is the SHARD OF THE HERDS TONE (50pts ENCHANTED ITEM ). This is my herd stone I made ages ago for my beastmen- ![]() ![]() So I want something these lines, but metal and techy. I figure the beastmen army uses these pod things to not only drop troops into the fight- but it also serves as a Marker type thing that tells other races that they where/are there –marking their territories. First I chopped up the drop pod kit and put the thing together as much as I can ( I glue 3 out of the 5 fins bit so it will be easier to paint and mod the inner bits). ![]() As I said I want this to be a 40k version of the herdstone so I sculpted some effigy of beastmen heads and maid copies of it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Usually on the herdstone it will have spears or spiky bits so on the bottom bit I did that too then stuck it all on. ![]() ![]() This will be for the doors- a symbol for beastus-mechanicus if you would ![]() After undercoating the whole thing white, I painted the inner bits silver and carefully paint on army painter quick shade strong tone only on the silver bits. Personally I really like the effect that it has on metallic paints. (for some reason a lot of painters oppose the quick shade dip, but I think it’s just another tool/technique one can use to create an effect)…. ![]() ![]() ![]() For some reason a lot of painters oppose the quick shade dip, but I think it’s just another tool/technique one can use to create an effect. Just be careful of “pooling”... Now to the equipment. This drop pod is supposed to be kind of a shrine, so having a bulky missile launcher in there as a center piece- I don’t think will look that good. So I came up with this cute little dude…. ![]() ![]() ![]() Who’s a cute baby gor? Who’s a cutie? Who’s a Cutie? You are… you are!... Who want’s to kill every thing? you do… You do…. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In my head-this little psycher guy can be used to first pilot the drop pod down, and then uses psychic shooting powers- like a zoanothrope would use a warp blast- to kill stuff…. Ok- it only goes 12 inches and does not have any AP- but he IS just a likkle baby go…. if he can survive a battle, brakes out of the tank and some how makes his way back to the herd- then he will become part of the beast army.... Sparta agoge type thing... ![]() ![]() ![]() if he can survive a battle, brakes out of the tank and somehow makes his way back to the herd- then he will become part of the beast army.... Spartan agoge type thing... So as a whole drop pod we get- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That’s it for now I think…. -------------------- |
