Hi everyone,

I'm going to run another fluff competition. I think the first one had some good stuff generated from it, though Spawn disappeared and it lost some of the momentum it would have otherwise had.

I'd like the entries to be themed around beasts of chaos, but I'm going to put a custom title up for grabs on this.

I'd like some feedback on how things will be run, whether you want some stronger theme restrictions (eg, ambush, the challenge, meeting of the brayherd, a shaman spirit walking).

For timeframe, I was thinking of starting this up early next week and making submissions due for the end of September (gives people a mix of Summer/School/Work time to fit in writing whenever it's possible).

Let's hear some thoughts and some interest.

Sounds fun! Would really help me to flesh out my BoC background more.

Good to see some interest. I'm guessing just making this one open BoC for the topic should be enough. Later we can do specific ones.

How long are people interested in writing? 500 is probably a little small, barely giving you time for an introduction, so does 1000-2000 words sound fair? Seems a nice balance between keeping it relatively short for a competition and writing an epic.

Nope, because reading 5 people's 3000 word stories will be a serious chore for those voting.

Besides, true creativity comes when you're constrained. I guarantee you that if you write a 2500-3000 word story, then go back through it and tighten up the story and the wording, you'll likely have a better 2000 word story (sort of like writing an armylist tongue.gif).

And by the way, I will post the author's name (along with the story title if you have one) in the voting thread.

Not for this time, but a competition for another time could be a fluff competition with a maximum of 50 words.
Sounds rubbish, but in school once we did a 50 word short story competition, it was really fun and really quite challenging.
Also less for people to read through when voting, and may encourage more people to have a go (as it wouldn't take as long to write).

EDIT: The thing I did before is what's known as a 'mini saga', is exactly 50 words, no more, no less.
