Nice skin tone on the shaggoth, the blue looks very smooth and I really like the golden scales, which go perfectly with the blue.

Ok, since everyone else has done the same, here's my painting competition entries. In case you didn't guess, the blue and yellow ones were mine.

That ragged flesh banner is so cool. You really nailed the coloring of stretched and flayed skin, especially toward the bottom. It looks pretty gross all glossy, actually.

Started work on my second Shaggoth. Needs some serious work around the waist, but I'm pretty happy with the overall shape.

Cool! He seems a bit top heavy, I would try to get his right foot on the base on a slightly higher position since it will raise his stature, and I think it will work against the whole look that he is about to fall over. Canīt wait to see it done!

I really like - don't think it appears all that "top heavy" - just a most dynamic pose?

Hmmm... you know I never realized how awesome the carnosaur model was... conversion ideas... *Scratches his chin*
I'm thinking a chaos carnosaur... Lots of armor plating. Very ... brotherhood of the wolf like. Gonna use it as a model in the new book if I am allowed. In some pics he appears top heavy in some he doesn't. I guess I'll reserve judgement until the joint is filled out a bit more. He does look dynamic.

In truth....the model is pretty sketchily balanced, but I like the lunging forward pose. I will be weighing down the base, but I don't think I'll be switching the model itself. Unlike pretty much every other large target, this one is posed to fight normal sized things.
And from the point of view of a shaggoth, you'd assume that they do have the strength and balance to support themselves from awkward poses like that. -------------------- ![]() Decker's Beast Blog - Last updated September 2/2011 - Banelords Beastlord and Harpies Decker's Eclectic Painting and Modeling Diary - Last updated August 29/11 - Bretonnian Knight + Lord Tallarn 47th Light Infantry Army Diary - Last updated March 29/09 - Leman Russ Eradicator |

One trick I did with a "carnosaur" was to mount it on an angled rock to help balance it more on the base.
