Pardon my ignorance but who makes that Brunchaath model? I just went through the GW site and did not see him. Is he a limited ed. model? Thanks.

He's a Banelegions model by Maelstrom Games:

http://banelegions.maelstromgames.co.uk/?tag=bnl-001

Available here:

http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?...bnl_cha_001_000

Quick warning - it's a resin model (real resin, not finecast), so there's some additional care required in cleaning up the model, and the small bits are pretty fragile (though I found them to be placed in such a way that it won't be an issue).

Nice Mino BSB and our rare monsters available from them too. Check them out to see if they're your cup of tea.

Glad to inspire anyone. smile.gif

Finally got my last movement trays finished and bases magnetized for a 2500 pt army I'm taking this weekend. Here's what it's looking like:

user posted image

A few extra models in there, but that's basically what the army is looking like. Only restriction that mattered to me was that you can't have more than 900 pts of characters, which means no minobuses.

edit: I also managed to cut out the BSB from the corner of the gor horde. He's slightly off to the edge.

That is one nice looking army, Decker! Congrats on being the proud owner!

Tell us more about what is going on for you this weekend and how you were able to prepare you models!

That is one nice looking army, Decker! Congrats on being the proud owner!

Tell us more about what is going on for you this weekend and how you were able to prepare you models!

Preparing the models for this army:

During the move a bit, but particularly over the past two years where I've been playing an average of a game per 2 weeks plus tournaments, my army's gotten dinged up. I've been adding models, but hadn't cleaned up much of the chipped paint on horns, etc.. The centigors and my metal hounds (used as unit fillers) were terrible in this regard, so I'm glad to have gone back over them.

For actual painting, tough to describe since I've got it down to pretty much a mindless task.
-Necron abyss/midnight blue->regal blue->enchanted blue (sometimes with a slightly whitened top highlight) for flesh
-Scorched brown -> bestial/calhan brown (sometimes with a slightly whitened top highlight) for the fur
-Boltgun metal and some inks for the metal
-Khemri brown gradually mixed with white for horns and hooves
-Various yellows, gryphone sepia and occasionally white for the yellow (used on various parts). I'm shockingly inconsistent with the yellow on the army, but it works.
-Snot Green for eyes
-Scorched brown -> graveyard earth for bases AND for wood (yes.....they're the same colour ohmy.gif)
-Other than those, there's a few other details in various colours that are tough to describe.

Because of the comp restrictions, I needed to add more rank and file, and couldn't fit in a minobus. That meant paint my new harpies and finishing a few extra gors, ungors and bestigors. I added Brunchaath because I felt like painting him. I also rebased a spawn to try as my first ever razorgor.

I also had gotten my gors and bestigors 85% magnetized over the last month or so, but I had to add extra models to each unit. Greenstuff + magnetic tape under the bases for all models and I'm good to go. I actually had to use a scrap of spare sheet metal for one tray since I don't know where to get it in this city, but I did have enough to make it work (and to easily add the rest once I get more).

The herdstone is another model that's new. It's just carved out styrene based on a 50mm base (so it can be used as a unit filler sometimes) and painted grey. I'll sometime add some painted on dark tongue, but I like how it looks now. I made a herdstone as my first styrene model, then kept going back to correct it by trimming a bit more off until I had ruined it. tongue.gif After doing a whole whack of new terrain, I went back and made this proper one - though I feel it's a bit undersized.

I also carved off a few mold lines and repainted, just to make mrtn happy. smile.gif

----------------------

Tournament details:

QUOTE
scenarios are, meeting engagement, dawn attack, the watchtower (without a building....so objective based)

pts breakdown.....
15 battle points possible per round so 45max
5 soft points per round so 15 max (comp and game play....player judged with guidelines)
5 point quiz
10 point painting score

comp restrictions
unit size max 50models or 500pts....whichever is reached first excluding characters
no duplicate monster slots (anything listed as Mo or Un) unless used as a character mount.
900pts in characters max

Completely new group (just moved cities). So really no idea what I'll be facing.

I won't post a detailed list until after the tourney (next Sat), but the new things I'm trying are a second harpy unit and a razorgor. From the pic, you should be able to figure out 90% of the list (can't go too far from the basic beastmen tourney list with the tourney restrictions). I just have a fundamentally strong list. 3 big blocks (35-40 models each), strong general and BSB, and wizards with 3 extra power dice. Add in 9 support/chaff units and I'm comfortable against any foe.

Both chariots are just tuskgor chariots for this tournament - I just wanted to use my nicely painted models so I used my 'razorgor' chariot model with a beastlord on it. Big scary things attract shooting though, so maybe that'll work out. tongue.gif

I like the scenarios for this tourney - quite different with one needing a strong central unit, and 2/3 throwing some curveballs at many lists.

-------------------------

BTW, might be a few weeks, but expect the Banelords Mino BSB to be my next painted model in this army. I just cleaned, assembled, based and magnetized the model. Beautiful sculpt - Maelstrom have really spoiled us with their releases.

Really impressive seeing your army fully painted and ready to go.

It's really given me the inspiration to get my herd finished.

How low on the Beastman social ladder do you have to be to be the ass end of a Centigor?

Been planning to do a flying doombull for a while, and I realized that the Mierce Miniatures doombull in resin would be perfect for what I was planning:

Needed to reposition one leg, and he's currently just pinned in place, but I'm really happy. Being resin means it's not going to be too top heavy, and with the slight adjustment he's actually standing decently on the disc. Need to find a plastic tab for it too obviously, but that can wait until it's painted. tongue.gif

To be fair, it would probably be bent on a traditional, superior metal model too wink.gif

I'd snip it off and replace it with brass rod, like I do almost all standard poles now.

Oh, I do like the nice simple model concept though. I could do that with my nominally Tzeentchist Beastmen, hmm... anyone ever tried GBS + Carpet + Skin of Man?Actually I guess that is illegal sad.gif
