Well, for the last few minutes (here in Aus, not yet for most of you) it has been my 18th birthday. I thought I'd celebrate by putting up this painting diary. Perhaps my 2009 diary, and I can do another one each year? Who knows. Anyway, at the moment this diary will be focussed on Warriors of Chaos (minus Chaos Warriors), interspersed with a bit of Empire when I run out of Chaos, and whatever else i can get my hands on. Maybe some Beasts when they get redone as well. Anyway, I got a $100 GW voucher from my Aunt and Uncle last night (for foreigners, that's pretty much enough for three boxes, the five cav/10 infantry ones) which is going to get me a box of Warhounds, a box of Marauder cav and a box of Knights. Also, as part of my present from my parents I'm getting the Warriors of Chaos book, a Lord on Jugger and another model which I'm hoping to use as a Chaos Ogre.
http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?...lst_ind_201_000 What would you think of that as a Chaos Ogre, providing I can fit it onto a 40mm base? Sort of representing 'Giant Hounds'. If it doesn't fit, I'll convert it into something, maybe a Warshrine or something. We'll see. So yeah, first off will be a Khorne BSB on Jugger, Knights of Nurgle, Marauder Cav of Slaanesh, some dogs and hopefully a Chaos Ogre. Updates will come soon. -------------------- |

I dunno if it would fit on a 40mm base, the pic looks pretty big. . .
Happy birthday! Looking forward to seeing the stuff you purchase painted and displayed EDIT: It would look fantastic as a chaos ogre! Very original - i like it This post has been edited by Oeufa on Dec 5 2008, 08:43 PM -------------------- WDL beasts: 1-0-3. . . . yeah I've not played many matches yet

Well, I've been having a bit of trouble deciding upon what bases I shall use for my Chaos, so I thought I'd ask it here. Tell me which of these you think I should do.
Back 2 Base-ix Slate - It looks good but someone I know has used the exact same ones for there own Chaos. Foundations of War Cracked Earth - I had an idea for this. Instead of painting it up as lava, perhaps paint it up as blood. I know that it would work much better for pure Khorne, but I think it could possibly look alright for a mixed mark army too. Foundations of War Battlefield Debris - Could be alright. Foundations of War Rocky Outcrop - I think that the Back 2 base-ix one is better than this, while being very similar. Microart Studio's Shale - I like this one, but I obviously wouldn't paint it the yellow that they have done. Anyway, what do you guys think? As for the models, I have built all the Warpuppies and will undercoat them today. I haven't started on my Knights or Horsemen yet though as my stuff still hasn't arrived from England and I want to build them together, particularly the Knights and the BSB. -------------------- |

I prefer the third option, "Foundations of War Battlefield Debris." It might not stand out as much as the others, but the whole rocky outcrop theme is too common these days.

I liked option 3 as well, but why not make your own basing? Not too hard to get the same results, with more variety, and cheaper.

Wait, is the second link working for you guys? It doesn't seem to want to go where it should.

Well, my order finally arrived and it fits!
![]() I still have to green stuff the gaps, but it fits onto a 40mm base which is great. Time to get a couple more of these guys. Also, any other opinions on the bases? I would make my own, but it hard enough getting me to paint, let alone having to make bases for everybody. I was going to do that for my Empire but it didn't work at all. I gave up after the first detachment and ripped them all off. This post has been edited by seanzala on Dec 11 2008, 01:06 PM -------------------- |

OK, a proper update. Here we have the WIP BSB of Khorne on Juggernaut.
![]() ![]() ![]() It's not quite finished yet though. I am undecided about what I will put on the banner top. I'll either sculpt a big Mark of Khorne to go there or use one of these. Only problem is that the Ogre one looks too Ogre and the other one is a tad small. Probably go for the mark though. Sorry about the poor lighting by the way. The weather has been like this all day. Also, Green Stuffed this guy. I've also sprayed all the dogs, but have only painted the flesh of one Scorched Brown before I stopped. They'll come later. -------------------- |

Juggernaut lord looks mean. I like it. The big dog is a nice model. Will work well for Ogres I think.
