I have recently bought a number of skaven models on Swedish ebay, and have started to paint some of them.
![]() ![]() I'm very happy with the "peek hole" here: ![]() My goblinoid skaven slaves: ![]() ![]() ![]() An amusing diorama, "Where did that cannon ball come from?" ![]() ![]() ![]() Another dwarf slave, and a giant rat: ![]() ![]() Part of the unpainted horde: ![]() I now have two(!?) OOP Screaming Bells, one Doomwheel, about 50 plaguemonks, about 30 night runners (some of these will probably be converted to clanrats), 20 clanrats, ten packmasters, maybe 30-40 rats, a couple of rat swarms, 5 rat ogres, four jezzails, a ratling gun, two warpfire throwers, ten globadiers, and a bunch of characters. I'd better get cracking... -------------------- Eight Chicky Bits, is that a Chicky Byte?

It'll be nice to follow this progress... You are certainly up for a good start.
I had a Skaven army of my own once, but gave around 4000p worth of stuff away many years ago... Now, I miss them. A lot more fun than the boring Daemons... Will probably start the rats again soon, but may have to go for the WoC first... And finish my other stuff... -------------------- Garganthors Beasts vs. Sherlockos Beasts - 12-8

Thanks mates.
Here is a couple of possible clanrat configurations: Night Runner body and Plague Monk arms to the left. Plague Monk body, helmeted clanrat head and Middenheim arms to the right. Both are made to try to get away from the "monkey hands" of the clanrat and night runner sprues. They'll obviously get shields in the end. ![]() Do they work? I have two units of monkey hands and boy do they look silly. I like what you have done. Good Stuff. They both look really cool. Way better than clanrats box.

I really dig all of this I love skaven. Well painted and as for the skaven models (unpainted plastic ones) I can see doing very well now they look better then normal untampered skaven keep up the work.
An more updates -------------------- [

Wow!! Thats a monsterous horde you have there. Your slaves looks really cool. I like the bleasched bone colour that is interspersed in there. Your skaven are pretty colourful for my tastes. The REd, green, and blue are too much for me, btu the painting is well done. Your diorama is humorous. Did you convert that dwarf model or was that the stock piece?
The alternative skaven look cool too. They look natural. Just out of curiousity, do goblin hands fit the skaven arms? Might be a cheap source of hands... -------------------- Exeter's Bouyant Beastmen: The Painting Log

@daftgor, khorne worny & banedrom: Thanks.
@Warhound of Chaos & TraitorKing: The Doomwheel will have to wait, I'd prefer a playable army first. @Exeter: Thanks. The dwarf is an old stock Marauder slayer. As to the hands the old goblin hands are as big as the clanrat hands, and the new goblin arms are too skinny. I've painted a few skaven, and also a few goblins more: A couple of jezzails, two censer bearers, an old plastic clanrat and Veskit, High Executioner of clan Eshin. ![]() -------------------- Eight Chicky Bits, is that a Chicky Byte?

I like the old monopose skaven plastic... you should use a single one in your entire army just to do it most justice

I think some of the mordheim skaven look really wicked, if we are talking about cool rat models. I am a sucker for the old school feel and these rats reek of it. Those jezzails look particularly nice.

More nice stuff. How long on average is it taking you on average to paint a skaven? It seems like your getting a lot done in short order. I envy you

@daftgor: I'll probably use all eight (?) I have, especially if I find a good way to strip them, with stuff available in Sweden.
@banedrom: Agreed, and thanks. @Exeterggg: Thanks. On average it takes me a very short time to paint them; I'm speedpainting this army and making heavy use of the new washes. Most colour fields are just a base colour and a wash... Besides, I have a job where I work my ass off every other week (15 hours tomorrow Here's a better pic of the gobbos, you may find it interesting that a plastic snotling has a bigger hand than a gor. I don't envy the guy in the middle... This post has been edited by mrtn on Aug 13 2008, 09:30 PM -------------------- Eight Chicky Bits, is that a Chicky Byte?
