This is a repost of something I just posted over at COTEC. It's not beastmen, but it's chaos, so anyway. tongue.gif

As you're probably aware you only get 12 bodies in the box, but much more arms and heads. I made my own, 13th warrior out of a shield arm, a sword arm, a helmet, some sprues and green stuff.

This is my first WIP:

My goal was to make the cloak bigger than usual. This hides any imperfections in the sculpting. wink.gif

This was almost the finished result (apart from head and shield, of course). Due to some feedback I got I realised that the torso was too long, so I made the belt higher and made a bigger belt buckle. Yes, that's cheating, I know. I also made some more details on the right knee. The left will be hidden behind the shield.

Before painting it looked like this:

Here it stands besides a "real" Chaos Warrior.

After painting it looks like this:

In the unit you can hardly see that it's there.

I hope this can give you some ideas. smile.gif

Wow! That is some great stuff! I was thinking of making a thirteenth warrior out of the extra cape you get from the sprue and some GS! If I would have to take a guess at witch CW it is I would have to say: 2nd rank, second from the right. Im just wondering, how did you do the one in the back rank and at the corner? Great stuff! Keep up the good work!

Yes, that's the one. But then again I posed him a bit differently than the ordinary ones, to make him more dynamic.
The two guys in the left row without cloaks I bought from Reaper Miniatures. wink.gif More pics of those in my Army Diary.

Thanks everyone!

MRTN you inspired em with your tutorial. I had some bits floating about and had ago.

Lucky for me I had some spare boots/knee pads from a previous conversion and an empire soldier legplate to help mask my poor modelling.

here is the result in a spot the difference:

excellent idea!

nowadays 12 in a box is plenty tongue.gif but the idea and execution is great! Maybe one point to put a little extra effort into is the cloak, to buff it more out, but besides that its a really good idea! in a unit you don't see that much of the warrior to be forced to sculpt it completely, so great idea!

by the way MRTN you get 13 cloaks in the box, because the champion's one is different and extra. I used the spare normal cloak for my extra warrior. All I had to do on mine was scuplt the chestplate and legs.

Looks really good! Seems like a lot of work to get one extra chaos warrior though!

I've got a better picture of the spare warrio I made on my blog, but don't want to clutter mrtn's guide with my pictures, so here is the link HERE

(ignore the quality, or lack thereof, of the painting sad.gif)
