Ok, well, still got the last 7 night goblins in full swing, finishing the robes. After that they should finish up pretty quickly. In the meantime, I have been working up a few of the chaos guys. One note, it has come to my attention that Chaos Ogres and Chaos Trolls are a 3+ unit size choice... that being said, I don't think I will change the choices I have made. I will just use the Warband rules instead... which allows for single choices. Eventually I will add on to those units to make them fit within the normal rules though.
Anyway, the first is a Marauder. Not sure if I like the red on the axe head, so let me know what you guys think, as he will be the basis for all the warriors in the army. The gargoyle was actually painted a long time ago, just never finished. He will need a bit of touching up, but I think the basic color scheme is about right. And the Cerberus model from Reaper (I am having a lot of fun with this model). He of course is going to count as two Hounds. The snakes are painted like coral snakes... the questions I have are the following: Should I paint all of the snakes on his back to represent coral snakes, or should I do a few to look like other types (cobras, vipers, etc)... also, any advice for the muzzles of the wolves? Thanks all. -------------------- |

I like the red axe head - Id say go for that scheme.
As for the snakes... different ones!!! That would look so cool if theres a lot of variation. I like what I see so far, looks like it will be a very interesting army! --------------------

I posted on WHA and told you what I thought, but I've changed my stance on the red axehead since. I think the red axehead does look better, I guess I didn't look very well at it the first time. So ignore the comments about rust.

I like the warrior very much - the red works nice to provide a bit of color to them - it would really help if you were going with a Khorne theme too.
I like the gargoyle....would be a good fury (better than GW's by far). Hound I am not sure on...have to see the rest of it. --------------------

looking very good, and it's all looking mousekiller quality
i like that hound alot, different snakes would look cooler and more mythological to me. Looking forward to seeingthat champion made by Sylvain Quirion! i didn't know he sculpted for Reaper aswell. That guy has alot of talent, won a couple of French GD aswell i think... anyway, great work! -------------------- Mallekha the Overwhelmer

Nice, is the recipe for the skin on the marauder the same as the one you used on the AoW Slayer? If not, any chance of a tutorial to show us how its done?

It's looking good. Cerberus could be used as a spawn too, if you want.

top notch stuff as always. I'd like to see you paint glowing eyes, as is often used on spacemarines I believe, on the gargoyle. For two reasons: the first being to add a little colour and secondly to give more focus. It looks great anyway, but might be worth considering?

If you don't find it to be to much work I would go with all coral snakes. It would be a good way to bring some much needed color to the list and you do it quite well. You could even make it more of a mini theme for the list. Anyway I think the coral snakes will allow you to keep to one color palette instead of mixing in some bright greens, yellows and reds you would need for multiple different snakes.

Succotash: I was thinking the same thing when I started painting him, but I think it got a bit cluttered. Right now I am working in some green snakes, a few rattle snakes, and some cobras. Hope it doesn't come out like garbage.
Darkmark: Great idea mate. Maybe some bright glowing green eyes? mrtn: splendid idea mate. I may have to re-look my list and make that conversion. Only problem would be finding another chaos hound to fit in with my 4... Alfindeol: Thanks mate. The list is more for variety than playability... but it would probably still be a fun army to play. Fast movers with the hounds and the furies, and a couple of strong arms with the ogre and the troll. snygge: thanks for the tip mate. Dracomancer: Exact same recipe mate. For some reason I am more fond of that particular recipe than some others I have that come out a bit more brown... Mallekha: I think he did quite a few back in the day... a bit of work with elves if I recall correctly. Beastlord: Well, I may end up making the Cerberus model into a spawn, would definitely still fit into my theme I think, but I will have to decide quickly as I am getting really close to finishing my night goblin army and will start the rest of the chaos army in full swing. Wargor: Thanks mate. Jhaant: Thanks for the input mate. -------------------- |

Ok, feels like it has been forever since I have been able to get anything done. Work...work...work... ah well. I updated the top of the thread with the new list, and also a list of what I used for the bases and for the different colors.
Anyway, a little done here and there, so let me know what you guys think. Overall, I think I am going to go with the coral snake theme for the army, I think that and the three headed dog will give plenty of idol worship for this undivided army. That being said, here is the current status of the Cerberus model. I decided to continue the stripes up his back, but I think in doing this I may need to add some color to his muzzle as well. He is still very WIP, so let me know what you guys think. For the maruaders, these guys are just about done. A few nitpick things (highlights on the drum and some other small things). And finally, I got rid of the GW chaos ogre in lieu of a model from Rackham, simply because I think it fits better with my maruader theme. -------------------- |
