It looks like special characters are going to be a major part of armies now GW seems to be encouraging their use. Not a great thing IMO but what can you do...?
You like the current set of characters? Just need tweeking? I think some Mark specific characters or beastmaster type charcter would be Interesting. -------------------- |

I love Morghur intensely so I hope they leave him mostly as is... The other two I can do with or without...

I hope they do some god specific characters. Because they've started giving hero level special characters, it is a distinct possibility too. Maybe slaanesh will have to keep Panic the Manic
By the way, though they've now repositioned where the characters are listed, the characters in the armybooks have been allowed without opponent's consent throughout at least all of 6th edition. -------------------- ![]() Decker's Beast Blog - Last updated September 2/2011 - Banelords Beastlord and Harpies Decker's Eclectic Painting and Modeling Diary - Last updated August 29/11 - Bretonnian Knight + Lord Tallarn 47th Light Infantry Army Diary - Last updated March 29/09 - Leman Russ Eradicator |

I think that Morghur needs a bit of re-working, because right now he can seriously unbalance some armies.

Hmmm, just seem to be facing a lot of Karlfranz+dragon/Grimgor/Thorak these days. People used to ask if it was ok before just bringing them before.
I love morghur, got to be the best chaos character around. Just wish they would tone him down a bit with less special rules, just to allow the game to run smoother. I think an ungor character would be cool personally. -------------------- |

I would cry in happiness if they bring out that Shaggoth character, Kraknarok The Black (or something near to that).

True, but I would prefer FW to sculpt the model, as they could really go to town on detail with a model that big...

i'd love a new character aswell, seeing as the empire has 5 or so and the orcs have quite alot too IIRC... the Shaggoth Father of all Dragon Ogres would be too cool to be true, but a bit too 'epic', i mean, he's a creature that will probably wake up every 10 millenia because a chaos gate is bursting or something... the SoC didn't even wake him up.
i agree that Morghur was taken a little too far, but if you look at those grimgors, thoreks etc, he is quite in the same league IMO. how about a doombull character? -------------------- Mallekha the Overwhelmer

Or a bray-shaman character, because then they would HAVE to make a new model for it that we could use for regular bray-shamans instead...

It's actually just a 4 x 4 foot template, moves up to 48" per turn, anything below it is destroyed with no saves allowed? -------------------- ![]() Decker's Beast Blog - Last updated September 2/2011 - Banelords Beastlord and Harpies Decker's Eclectic Painting and Modeling Diary - Last updated August 29/11 - Bretonnian Knight + Lord Tallarn 47th Light Infantry Army Diary - Last updated March 29/09 - Leman Russ Eradicator |

I think special characters when balanced properly can add alot of flavor and tactical options to an army. Plus, its not like this is 40k where it makes no sense that out of a million different forces on hundreds of thousands some special character shows up to every one of your battles. In fantasy it's fitting for a powerful member of a race to personally lead a large force of 2k+ points.
The one thing I don't like is GW going overboard on characters uniqeness. In the beginning characters were mostly powerful but with fatal flaws. Such as any powerhouse combat unit being able to be flanked and be run down without ever striking a blow, or the mage characters taking up such an ungodly amount of points you could never fit in enough supporting lvl 2s to make them viable while still having an army at 2k. Nowadays we have things like kroak or morghur or thorek. Now I include morghur in that list only because he belongs there in terms of rules design, frankly I love morghur armies and I see nothing so overpowered about them. I severely doubt we will see a special character for every mark, in additional to regular fluff characters not associated with any particular god (which is how chaos is designed right now, the powerful leaders are the ones who follow undivided on some level) because it would be an insane amount of special characters. --------------------

Characters are not a valid tournament choice IMO. I don't mind them in a friendly game there just fun, but they just complicate a game. I also generally prefer to make up my own, it gives me more freedom

I seem to be one of the few who DONT like Morghur. In fact, i love Khazrak. I base MUCH of my army around the ambush, and getting to use his leadership, as well as having more herds to ambush, is really useful. Not to mention Scourge is a great help agianst characters and such, especialy when you beef out his strength. Cast the spell from SoD on him straight out of ambush, and hes S6 and immediatly in combat with that pesky ass organ gun.
Anywewt, i would LOVE more characters, especialy a Shaggoth. I have been toying with some ideas of my own (Constantly frenzied, Death Frenzy if hit by Lightning, GW that shocks targets, prevents wounded opponents from striking back) This post has been edited by Will_Of_Tzeentch on Aug 2 2007, 12:29 AM -------------------- "When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness - and call it love."
