The Destroyer's rules have been updated to be instead of:
"-1 to wound for non magical attacks", i
t is now "re-roll successful non magical to wound rolls".

It's still a major threat to take down, but at least S4 & less can wound it smile.gif

*facepalm*

Now S4 can wound it marginally more....but it's better against S5, 6 and 7.

why do say that? its a much easier rule to utilise and makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things...

Personally it makes no difference to me as anything I'd let the destroyer get into combat with (Other than sacrificial chaff) would have either massive S or a magic weapon and massive S...

Bestigors only doing 3/4 as much damage as they would under the old rules is a pretty big drop for a unit you'd target the destroyer with.

It is what it is, but that errata wasn't too well thought out. All it needed was an errata that 6's always wound on lower strength attacks.

Gotta admit, the CD are extremely powerful. Using the ash storm combined with lore of fire, their magic becomes one of their best phases. Anything multi wound hsa just been turned into a pile of ashes sad.gif

I have fought them a couple times. Their war machines are over the top. The destroyer is a steam tank on steroids. I really just dont want to play them not a fun match for me.

There are ways to beat them though:

1. Use all 3 items that grant a 2+ ward save against flaming attacks!
2. Use Chalice of dark rain to counter some shooting.
3. Use Ironcurse icon. Itīs dirt cheap! Save 1 gor and it has paid itself off.
4. Do not go up against the destroyer with infantry unless it has 2+ ward against flaming and magic attacks. Doombull or perhaps a beastlord are your best choices.
5. Do not offer the cannons targets like our expensive rare-choices!

I have killed the destroyer using a mounted wood elf lord, with dragonhelm and ogre blade. Just charged, did a few wounds, he didnīt get to thunderstomp (since I wasnīt infantry) and crumbled.

To counter really big units of chaos dwarfs I would try to get my bestigors with blackened plate, hopefully a doombull and in a best-case-scenario a flank/rear with gors.
You could probably pin the unit using a Doombull/beastlord with dragonbane gem, gnarled hide, ramhorn helm and crown of command. Or dawnsstone and dragonhelm? Keep hitting those characters if you can. This way the rest of your army can take care of the rest of his.

Use harpies, ungors in ambush and lone razorgors to charge (or at least threaten) his warmachines.

The best of luck to you!
