The sun never stopped shining over Evnastea. July or December, spring or autumn, it always beamed down on them like an everlasting light bulb. Admittedly though, it did become weaker in the long winter months and today’s sunlight had lost much of its warmth, causing that confusing sort of weather where it's bright but cold; Ella breathed out puffs of smoke as she walked across the grounds, down towards the home of her favourite inhabitant of the school.
"Silverwing? Are y-" Ella never finished her sentence, for when she peered into the cave only a sleeping dragon was there to greet her. The third year Tempest was known for a lot of things, mainly her fiery temper and little patience, but she wasn't stupid, and she definitely knew better than to wake a sleeping dragon: doing so could well be the last thing you ever did.
Still, she had come all the way out here so there wasn't much point in going back. Instead, she settled herself down under the oak tree to the left of the cave. From here she had a perfect view of the cave's mouth, so she would notice the second the school’s ancient guardian stirred.
In the mean time, she would just have to find something else to occupy herself with...
