TAP, TAP, TAP
Heather looked up sharply from her desk to see a beautiful tawny owl at the window to her office. A smile spread across the face of the young head mistress as she recognised the liquid amber eyes gazing back at her. "Hey, Astyanax." she said, petting the aging owl tenderly. A piece of parchment was attached to the owl's leg, which she unravelled and began to read. Her cerulean blue eyes darted across the page as her smile continued to grow. She finished reading and quickly scribbled a reply on a second sheet of parchment. "Right Asty, take this back to dad, OK?"
Heather sunk back into her chair, transported back to her childhood once more. And as so often happened when she thought about her time as a schoolgirl, her mind drifted to the black point. She hadn’t been down there in almost five years, and decided that it was about time she took a trip to see how the place was doing.
Five minutes later she was strolling across the grounds down to the point, squinting in the bright April sunshine and frowning slightly: the muggles below her may be enjoying the heat wave global warming was causing, but the vampire blood running through her veins defiantly wasn’t rejoicing at all this extra sunshine, and her pale skin was prone to burning the second the sun came out, which the young headmistress found more than a little aggravating. Silently cursing muggles and their in-efficient forms of energy production, Heather climbed through he narrow gap leading into the point.
Finding your way through a childhood hideout is rather like riding a bike: you never forget it. Indeed, Black Point, for all its complex twists, turns and dead ends was merely a child’s maze in Heather’s eyes and she had no trouble at all navigating through its many tunnels.
However, while walking along one such tunnel, Heather suddenly realised than she was not alone: a boy, a first year by the look of him, was lying on the floor. The cold-hearted headmistress with in her once again took over, and she loomed over the boy, eyes flashing: “You do realise the Point is off limit to all students?”
