Be sure to buy a mask or makeup and costumes, for the dance is a masquerade.

The sun rose. All beauty drained from the village. No one woke. No one stepped to the streets. Silence was the only thing heard. Yet, one girl broke it. A pitter-patter of running feet echoed through the quiet town. A little blonde of age seven bounded along the avenues of the village, checking around each corner for, something. She growled, stopped, crossed her arms, opened her mouth - "IAN!" Her shout rang through the street, but no one answered. Narrowing her eyes to slits, she took up a full run once more, and her cloak flew out behind her. "Ian!" The girl finally halted at the entrance of an inn, and her curly pigtails drooped under the weight of her winter hat as she looked up at the sign.
The Apple Bar
The 'e' at the end of 'Apple' looked as if it were about to fall off; it was certainly upside down and unhinging. The girl blinked, a feeling of dread coming over her. "Perhaps I'd better go through the kitchen."

A young girl, maybe fourteen, thirteen, but probably fourteen, sat oustide, leaning against the wall of a building. Dirt smudged her face and hands, and her clothes were extremely dirty. Her hair was pulled back from her face, and she slowly ran one slim finger up and down the black sheath that held her sword. Her head was tilted back, her eyes cold and dark, even as the light of the sun was being to be spilled. She cocked her head as if something was puzzling, taking a pale wand out from behind her ear, and waving it around in the air just for her own vulgar amusement. Not that Ivette- or Ivy, which she preferred due to the fact Ivette was a name fit for a lady, not a Necromancer- had a vulgar way of acting, or that her amusements had to be vulgar, for example, she would never torture a child or an animal to make her smile cruelly and laugh, but sometimes she might act like that.
Ivy saw the little seven year old run, running one hand through her thick mane of hair as she watched the girl pass her. She did not move, did not flinch- she was used to people not noticing her. That came with being one of her so called 'kind.'

A young girl in her early teen years walked, book in hands, along the sidewalk. Her attention wasn't really focused on the book she was reading, but on a nearby building that looked slightly interesting to her. Once close enough, she was able to read the old-looking sign.
"The Apple Bar"
The name caught her attention, and being her curious self, she walked closer to the building. She had heard a shout earlier - It sounded like someone was yelling the name "Ian", though she was too far away at the time to be sure - coming from this direction. Being her curious self, she had changed the direction which she was walking in and started heading toward the source of the shout so she could see what was going on. But, once she got to this street, there seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary going on. Suddenly, Alice had a thought. She needed a job, and this was a bar, it seemed, so she figured she could see if she could get a job here. That is, of course, if it was still in business. The sign looked as if it was in pretty bad shape, as the "E" at the end of "Apple" looked extremely close to falling off, but she figured it might still be in business. She walked to the door and cautiously turned the knob, waiting a few seconds before actually opening the door. She slowly stepped inside and called out, "Hello..?"
((OoC: By the way, in my post it says that it seems to her it's a bar. I know it's actually an inn, but it's called "The Apple Bar", so she assumes it's just a bar. Just clearing that up. ^^;; )

Natasha then stopped. She had the feeling someone was watching her, yet the streets seemed abandoned. She ceased her breathing, hoping, nay, pleading it was not a slayer. She turned sharply, abruptly, only to find herself staring at a lonely teen-aged girl. She cocked her head, and an interesting aura came to her mind. That of a necromancer? "Hello!"
In the kitchen, the back of the tavern, was a boy. He was chopping beef, by the looks of it, and didn't seem too happy about it. Then again, he was forced to make a living on his own, and this was the best in Vais du North he could find. At least someone was willing to take a thirteen year old boy into employment. Ian sighed. He'd been there since five in the morning, which was pretty late for him. He usually had to spend the night serving the slayers and others that came, but it was all right. He got every other day off, and that was the best deal for him. Then he heard something out front. Ian wiped his hands on a raggety towel, then stepped out the kitchen to see who'd made the noise. The Bar was deserted, very irregular, for it was always packed with drows, slayers, humans, and spellcasters. But Eira (the elegant, curvy, 20-year-old bar maiden that made Ian swoon) had shooed them all off; she was a bit tired from nonstop compliments three days in a row, it seemed, especially from drunks. And so here Ian was, wondering who was pertruding the Apple Bar's quarters. He swiftly picked up the nearest knife, then with it in hand, shakily called out, "H-hello?"

"Hello." Ivy's voice was soft, pleasant to hear, but not melodious. She stood up, feeling a bit fidgety. She was not tall, in fact, short, but that did not bother her. She fiddled with her sleeve, offering a crooked smile that revealed pale white teeth. "Sorry for watching you, and sorry for disturbing you. It's just that you don't see many early in the morning here, and so it was extremely odd." Ivy said, brushing a strand of white-blonde hair behind her ear with one slim hand. She said nothing more, putting her hands in the pockets of her breeches (black, of course.) and the smile disappeared, but she did not appear any less friendly. The seven-year old seemed harmless enough, but as Ivy had learned, never judge a book by it's cover in Vais Du North. Most people misled you, but there were some that were good.

Alice blinked. 'I suppose it's not deserted... Or maybe it's someone breaking in. I'd better be careful,' she thought, while taking two knives out of her boots. "Do you work here..?" She asked cautiously, slowly backing up to the door. She had alot of training with blades, and other weapons, but she hadn't had much real-life fighting experience, so she was a bit nervous. She then reminded herself that she had nothing to be afraid of; she was a vampire, and vampires weren't killed very easily.. Unless, of course, it was a slayer. That could be a problem; a BIG problem.
As she backed up ever so slowly, Alice looked around quickly to see if there was anywhere she could hide - only in an emergency, of course - and saw few places that would hide her well. She raised her weapons a bit higher, getting in a fighting stance.

"Hm," the girl murmured. "I get up pretty early; It's others I don't see much around this time. You're not disturbing me, miss, no," she added, then backed away. "I'm sorry to bother you. Perhaps I'll... go..." Natasha was having the same thoughts as the older girl. She actually looked a bit slayer, the aura could have been only to disguise herself. One must take all precaution, someone had once told her.
Ian lowered his knife, then held up a hand to show that he meant no harm. Not unless the girl attacked, first, of course. "Yes, I work here," he breathed, setting the knife back down on the counter beside him. This girl didn't seem very steady; she hardly seemed to know how to fight, much less threaten or kill. He asked gently, "What is your business here? The Apple Bar opens at six." He cringed, and a vision of the Bar's owner came into his mind. Ian knew what the man would say if he heard the boy speaking these words.

"I don't mind." Ivette said, shrugging. "By the way, I'm Ivette Marie. Please call me Ivy." Her tone was bored and polite, and she nodded her head in a silent greeting to the seven-year old. She sighed, and the dark, purple shadows were more visible on her face. She felt uncomfortable all alone her, and she bit her lip, running her fingers through her hair. She glanced around, and looked at her shoes, finding nothing more to say. What she supposed to say, Hello, nice weather we're having, aren't we now? Yes, that was amazingly indifferent and entertaining. Ivy's body shook with silent laughter as that thought ran through her head, basically, her own irony was amusing her to no end.

Alice's eyes widened, and she immediately put her weapons back in the hidden compartment on her boots. "Oh, I'm sorry. You see, I'm new here, and I didn't know it wasn't opened. I was actually going to ask for a job, but you're probably busy so I can just come back later..?" She said quickly, feeling slightly stupid for getting ready to fight. She bit her lip as she waited for the boy to answer, and wondered if they could possibly become friends. He looked about her age, and seemed pretty friendly, so she thought it could be a possibility. "By the way, what's your name?" She spoke suddenly.

"I guess that was not a compliment." Ivy said, quirking one of her eyebrows as she brushed her clothes off with one sweep of her hand. "Or was it? Maybe a request, I'm frankly not sure..." She murmured those words to herself, eyes averting themself to the ground as her lips barely moved, hazy, mixed thoughts running through her head. Ivy stretched, before pursing her lips and slipping her hand into her pocket. She waited for a reply, calmly, but inside her thoughts were a whirl, wondering what she was doing talking to this girl, so-called Hilary.

ic :: "Hello, Ivy," the girl smiled, then extended a hand to help her up. "I'm Natasha. D'you need anything? The Apple Bar's right over there. You ever been in? A guy named Ian works there. I think he's about your age. He's loads nice - he could give you food or - if you drink wine!" Natasha rambled off about the inn and young boy, then started skipping across the road to the Apple Bar.
"Ian," the boy said, answering her last question first. "To tell ye the truth, ye don't seem like the kind of person that would live in Vais du North. But dun count me judgemental," he added with a grin, scartching the back of his head nervously. He, also, didn't seem to fit in around the city. But a lot of people chose Dark Kingdom over the White, and no one ever asked why. "I'm not the one to talk to 'bout a job, lassie," he continued. "Sir Stonegale's upstairs, he owns this 'ere inn; I'll take ya up te' him, if ye want."

"I don't need anything, but wine sounds nice. And I've never been in there, but it sounds nice," Ivette said, smiling broadly at Natasha and laughing for a second. She had heard about the bar, but most had, with it's.... reputation. Ivy followed the seven-year old, pushing back the veil of white-blonde hair that fell in front of her face. A normal girl might have been wondering what might happen, but Ivy had learned how to go along with the flow of things, wondering wherever the winds of fate may carry her. (XD)

Alice smiled a bit and said, "Sure, that'd be great. If you have the time, of course. Don't wanna be trouble. Oh, and my name's Alice, but my friends call me Luna." She stuck out her hand a bit in front of her to shake hands with the boy. She was excited to get a job, since she had never had one before, and wondered if she would be hired.

"T'aint no problem, Luna," Ian grinned, trying to lay off the Scott in him. Then he added, "I'm Ian." He took her hand and briefly shook it, then took off his apron and hung it up on a hook nearby. Leading the girl to a staircase, he trudged up each step one by one; the slope was a bit steep. When he finally reached the end of the spiraling flight, and the entrance to the second floor, Ian turned left and walked to the end of the hall, where a lavishly decorated door stood. He knocked twice, and called, "Sir Stonegale, sir? I have a lady to see you."
Natasha nodded, then started shouting again. "IAN!" Rushing into the kitchen by the back arch, she called, "Ian! There's a girl here - she wants wine!" Yes, the girl sounded childish and as if she had no clue what to say, but she was only a seven-year-old, after all. Stumped, she turned to Ivy. "He was here a few minutes ago, I saw him," she explained. Natasha hopped over to the wine cabinet, jumped up, and opened one of the doors. She repeated the action, and the second flap undid itself. The cupboard was now open, revealing seemingly hundreds of bottles of bubbly liquor.
