In 1955, Walt Disney created a magical world hidden away in California, to give children and adults alike a place to let their imaginations soar -- where even the impossible could occur.

51 years later, in March 2007, a messageboard was created with the exact same purpose: to give the fans, the children at heart, a place to discuss their love of all things Disney without the fear of judgement from those who have 'grown up' and sadly no longer believe in magic.

Ooh! I wanna do this! smile.gif

I've only been in 5 shows so far (I'm just starting my hopefully long theater career biggrin.gif ) and here are my past roles (Miss Manday, you might have seen these on my signature on MdN)

Jasmine-Aladdin Jr.
Belle- Dickens A Christmas Carol
Susan- Lion, Witch, Wardrobe
Dori/Dance Captain- Schoolhouse Rock Jr.
Yonah- Children of Eden

My favorites are Jasmine in Aladdin, Susan in LWW, and Dori in Schoolhouse Rock. Children of Eden and Christmas Carol were fun too, of course, but those are the most memorable for me.

You've played both Jasmine and Susan? No faiiir. laugh3.gif Those are two roles I'd love to play. If my theatre ever did Aladdin Jr., I might have a chance. (If we didn't do the JR aspect of it, lol.) But they did LWW in 2005 so I don't think they'll do it again anytime soon. Blah.

Are you doing anything currently, or are you on break?

Yeah, they were both great roles to play!! I had tons of fun!! Despite being a Jr. musical, it wasn't that bad. It was a lot like the movie, and it even had some new songs that weren't in the movie (ie "Why Me" sung by Jafar)

No, sadly I'm not doing anything currently. School's out and I wasn't able to audition for my community theater's summer show (Grease!) because it is the week of my brother's wedding. sad.gif But my choir's rehersing for a summer show where we're singing "For Good" from Wicked, and I have the Glinda solo, so that will be fun.

How about you?? I know you did HSM ( lucky! ). Doing anything now??

Yea I've listened to some of the new songs, it sounds great! I've heard of people not doing it as a Jr. version, so I'd LOVE to do it.

And that's awesome about the "For Good" solo! I love that song. :) Video it to share with us! laugh3.gif

Yea, I did High School Musical back in November. It was a slight disaster, but fun non-the-less. We were one of those first groups to do it (first in Florida, too!) and because we were some of the firsts...materials were JUST being printed. And we got our scripts THREE WEEKS before the show. So we had been just going by what we knew from the movie. And since some of the music is different (and there are new songs too) we had to relearn the songs, relearn the dances, and still learn the scripts. Plus our sound system kinda didn't work during the show. Blah. But it was still lots of fun! It was my first real acting experience and I met some awesome people during the run.

I'm not doing anything right now. I can't do shows this summer because my schedule won't allow it. (My bestie is coming from Japan to stay with me, and I'd rather hang with her then be going to daily rehearsal! She's Nova on here. smile.gif) But we did have a caberet show a few weeks ago to celebrate our brand new theatre building, and I was going to do "As Long As You're Mine" with a friend of mine (he played Ryan in our HSM) but we dropped out because the caberet was kinda disorganized, and we didn't have all that much time to block and practice and stuff. Oh well. laugh3.gif

I should be doing a show this fall though. We were trying to do BATB but Disney won't let us...so I'm hoping they'll go with Aida instead, or maybe Aladdin because I suggested both of those. We'll see. giggle.gif My director might be tired of Disney after HSM, lol.

lol. I don't think I'd be able to learn pretty much a whole show three weeks before the show blink.gif that sounds amazing. HSM seems like such a fun show to do. Yeah, gotta love those sound systems laugh3.gif I've had problems like that before too.

What are your favorite broadway shows? Mine are Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Into the Woods, and Rent.

Yea it was hard. Luckily, the biggest dance number didn't have to go through TOO much change. ("We're All In This Together") ...we just had to rework the dance break. Otherwise, it was the same. But "Status Quo" had to be revamped, we had to learn the new song "We're Counting On You" and yea. Those two numbers gave us the most grief during the performance run. laugh3.gif

My favorite broadway show is Les Miserables. smile.gif And the Disney ones are awesome too. I've only seen Les Mis though, I saw the National Tour in like...2000 or 2001. Also saw the Wizard Of Oz Tour with Mickey Rooney and Jessica Grove. That wasn't real broadway, though. shrug.gif But I also like Wicked, like some of the music from RENT though I've not seen it or the movie... as my friend says, I only seem to know the mega-musicals. giggle.gif

Yeah, I'm the exact same way. I only know the musicals that get all the major attention biggrin.gif

I'm seeing Les Mis this summer! I just bought the soundtrack a few days ago, and it seems great! I'm also seeing Wicked, Grease, Oklahoma, Joseph...Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Pajama Game, and Peter Pan. My family has tickets to a local theater that does outdoor shows in the summer. This season should be good.

You should see the movie RENT. It's great.

Woah, you get to see a lot! Lucky! You'll have to tell me how Max and Laura do in Grease. wink.gif I liked them on the tv show.

You're so LUCKY you get to see Lea Salonga in Les Mis! I'd kill to see her...she's AMAZING. One of my favorite Disney/broadway voices. Up there with Paige and Jodi, anyway.

I know I need to see RENT. Actually, the student edition of the show is being released this month, and the premiere is here in Florida, so I might go if I can find someone to carpool with me, cause its two hours away. But thats better than driving to New York, I say. XD

sorry...I'm not seeing them. I should have been clearer. unsure.gif the shows are coming to a local theater in my hometown, not actually with the broadway casts. Lea Salonga is amazing though.

Did you watch Grease you're the One that I Want? I loved that show! I had actually seen Derek Keeling play Danny in Grease in my hometown, and I voted for him as Danny. I thought he was really good. I was dissipointed when he left. Max seemed too geeky to play Danny to me. idk.

Ooooh, I see. laugh3.gif

Yea, I watched the beginning and the end...forgot to watch during the middle cause I'm not used to having shows come on on those nights... XD But I always loved Laura. I didn't care who won Danny, though I liked the other guy that was up for it, I think Max had the better voice. He is a bit geeky...but geeky is good. And he's not THAT geeky anymore really.

Yeah, I always loved Laura. I thought it was time to have another brunette play Sandy, because the original broadway Sandy was brunette. Sandies just turned blonde after the movie with Olivia Newton John. Are you going to see The Little Mermaid when it opens?

No, I've never been to New York. Hopefully someday, though. I really want to see TLM. When is the soundtrack for TLM coming out? Do we know?
