In 1955, Walt Disney created a magical world hidden away in California, to give children and adults alike a place to let their imaginations soar -- where even the impossible could occur.

51 years later, in March 2007, a messageboard was created with the exact same purpose: to give the fans, the children at heart, a place to discuss their love of all things Disney without the fear of judgement from those who have 'grown up' and sadly no longer believe in magic.

On Monday, Jan. 7, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) announced it will unveil a new show in the Disney Wonder's 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre March 20 called "Toy Story - The Musical."

The musical, which marks the first time the popular Disney-Pixar film has been adapted for the stage, is one of the largest productions ever developed for a cruise ship.

The announcement was presented to DCL Cast Members hours prior to the story hitting the local and national press at the DCL Celebration 210 office - which was immersed with "Toy Story - The Musical" banners, food and a visit from Sarge and three of his Green Army Men.

"World-class entertainment is one of the hallmarks of a Disney Cruise Line vacation," said DCL President Tom McAlpin. "It's what sets us apart from the rest of the cruise industry and one of the reasons Guests sail with us again and again. 'Toy Story - The Musical' gives our repeat Guests something new to enjoy."

Similar to the 1995 movie, the show transports Guests into the miniature world of Andy's toys, opening in his room, where the audience meets Woody, a pull-string talking cowboy who has long been 6-year-old Andy's favorite toy. But when Andy's birthday brings a new arrival, Buzz Lightyear, Woody's jealousy gets the better of him and he schemes to get rid of his new rival.

With its elaborate costumes, larger-than-life props, animated characters and original music (which includes Randy Newman's Oscar-nominated hit song, "You've Got A Friend In Me"), Guests will follow a journey embarked by Buzz Lightyear and Woody that transforms their relationship from jealous adversaries to best friends.

"The planning of 'Toy Story - The Musical' took between 18-24 months," said Jim Urry, vice president of Entertainment for DCL. "We have a phenomenal cast which started rehearsing in Toronto about a month before the holidays and will stay there until they come down here for traditions, join the ship and rehearse all the way through the shows opening, March 20."

The musical tentatively is scheduled to replace "Hercules: The Muse-ical."

Well, they 'unveiled' it yesterday, maybe, but we've known about it now for months. wink.gif I'm curious as to how they will pull off all the different toys...we shall see....
