I have been thinking about starting a podcast for classic comedy for some time now. Last year I started a couple podcasts (Basket of Thoughts and Cleft Club Radio), had to stop when things got really hectic here at home, now I'm starting up again.
First, if you don't what a podcast is, checkout Wikipedia's podcast entry. So anyway there's this neat podcast service called Talkshoe (a take of Ed Sullivan's saying "Tonight we have a really big shoe (show)"). The host, in this case me, sets up a show (hopefully it will be weekly) around a subject and people can call in and talk about whatever the topic is. I created Classic Comedy Talk for us to talk about our favorite comedians. There's a couple ways to take part. You can call in by phone at (724) 444-7444, show ID is 6894. I set this up for this Saturday at 9pm for now. You can either talk on the phone or just listen to the podcast live... comes in handy if you aren't near a computer. I'll adjust the time depending on what my new work schedule will be. There's also a chat room. To enter, you'll need to download the Talkshoe Live client. When the show is "on the air", load the client to join the room. There is a great FAQ on their site that answers a lot of questions: http://www.talkshoe.com/se/help/FAQ.html This will be the first time I've used this so it will be new to everyone Time and Date: Saturday, 12/8, 9pm Eastern Place: Info is at the CCT page, http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkC...p?masterId=6894 Hope to see/hear you there! I did a test run of the service. Just a few minutes for me to get an idea of the functions of the layout. You can hear it at CCT's Talkshoe page:
http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/tscmd/tc/6894 It's already listed in iTunes podcast directory Yeah., I know my voice is so excited in the recording, lol. That's what happens when I'm running on just a few hours sleep (having a baby does that The reason why I make so many pauses is that I'm busy looking at the controls finding out what they do. Pretty darn cool For tomorrow, be sure to download the Talkshoe Live client to take part in the chatroom. Calvero -------------------- webmaster for ComedyClassics.org and ChaplinFansUnite.com.

Here's a step by step instructions if you get confused on how to join. It may look like a lot but that's so I can give a "slower" walk through for those that get really stuck.
NOTE: You can only start the client by following these instructions. If you go through your Start button->All Programs on Windows, a small pop-up will ask if you want to join a Live show (it will take you to a page listing TalkShoe's shows that are live) or to create your own talkcast. You can only join he chatroom if I have the show live. 1. Go to CCT page on Talkshoe, http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/tscmd/tc/6894 2. click on the purple graphic where it says "Listen Text Talk" 3. The next page , "TalkShoe Live!™ Join In Instructions" is also immediately followed by a popup asking permission to launch the application (in this case, the Talkshoe Live client). If you have already downloaded and installed it, press the "Launch application" button (it might be greyed at first, just wait a couple seconds for it to be clickable). 4. The TalkShoe client should start. A small grey box appears giving you info on the phone number, 724-444-7444, show ID, 6894, and your pin number if you want to talk. Just press anywhere on the grey area to close the small grey box and you should then be able to access the chatroom. Be warned: the chatroom is funky and takes a little time to get used to reading. A bit different from the normal chatrooms but it didn't take me long to follow, and when I was first in a talkcast chatroom, it was *really* busy. If you join Net @ Night's show, you'll know what I mean! That should do it http://www.talkshoe.com/se/help/FAQ.html Calvero -------------------- webmaster for ComedyClassics.org and ChaplinFansUnite.com.
