Has anyone seen this book about Charlie? I saw a set of other books by Taschen in a store today but didn't want to spend the money on them, so I was just admiring them on their website instead. It turns out they've got a whole series of books of pictures on other Hollywood icons, too, including Charlie. I'd seen the book set at Saks Fifth Avenue, so the books were all on fashion icons, I had no idea they had so many books about other icons. I should have just stayed off that website because now I want like 10 of their books, lol. But the Charlie book is only $10 and looks like it'd be a fantastic book to set out on a coffee table if anyone here is interested.

This is a good addition to a Chaplin library. It is mainly a picture book, David Robinson gives a short introduction about Chaplin; nothing new if you have his biography "Chaplin His Life and Art". There are some good pictures in it I hadn't seen before. The texts and captions are in English, French and German so you can polish up your knowledge in foreign languages.

I have it also. Annie and Gabigirl pretty much described it: a little book with lots of pictures (with, as Annie said, the text and captions in various languages). I'd say you should definitely get it, Angie. (Do you celebrate Christmas? Ask for all the others you want as gifts! biggrin.gif).

Did anyone else pre-order "The Art of Charlie Chaplin" by Kyp Harness? You might remember that I posted the Amazon link and wondered what the significance of the cover was. It has a 2008 publication date, but actually came out last week. Nothing new, in what I have read so far, but it's nice that new Chaplin books seem to keep on coming.

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human
society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and
betrayal. And I was angry. "God", I said,This is terrible! Why don't you do something? God was silent for a moment, then He spoke softly. I have done something, He replied. " I created you".
"The Animals' Savior"
Jim Willis, 1999.
