1922, photographer James Abbe. (I guess you still haven't gotten the Jeffrey Vance book).

--------------------
I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human
society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and
betrayal. And I was angry. "God", I said,This is terrible! Why don't you do something? God was silent for a moment, then He spoke softly. I have done something, He replied. " I created you".
"The Animals' Savior"
Jim Willis, 1999.

Yes, I'm the teacher. Sniffing salt up your nose - didn't that burn?
School was OK today, although I (and another teacher) got mad at one of the girls for lying, among other things.

The name of the book is Chaplin: Genius of the Cinema. Don't cut up your birthday copy! Get another one at some point to cut up for pictures.

I've found it! 1920, on set of the kid, with Baby Hathaway, the baby in the film at the beginning.
