Zombies. Scientific name
homo sapiens necros. No one's entirely sure where they came from, and many blame the government. Some sources say that Hell simply filled up, and that the dead ended up on Earth that way. Others have their own theories.
Whatever the source of the zombies, they're here. The walking
undead. Corpses that feed on human flesh. There are a few stages to their rot.
Stages
Stage 1 - Stage 1 zombies have just died, usually having been bitten and succumbed to the painful death that follows. (A person who has been bit gets a fever, suffers from vomiting, chills, and in the final stages, bleeding from the eyes, nose and mouth.) These zombies maintain their human intelligence, but are enraged and full of blood-lust. Because of the length since the virus first hit, there are VERY few Stage 1 zombies around. Full-speed, full-intelligence, 100% nasty guys.
Stage 2 - Stage 2 zombies are your typical horror movie type. The rot can go from minor to extreme, and some of these guys don't even have arms or legs. In order to maintain their "unlife", they must feed on live, preferably human, flesh. If they don't, they become...
Stage 3 - Stage 3 zombies are pathetic. They barely move, just sitting around and slowly rotting away. Stage 3 zombies completely fade away after a few months if they do not feed.
Zombie Animals
Zombie animals are actually fairly rare, since animals don't like feeding on zombies, and zombies can't catch most animals. Most zombie animals are carnivorous animals who have fed upon a zombie due to starvation. Herbivore animals becoming zombies is nearly unheard of.
How to Kill
In the Broken World, the only way to make sure a zombie isn't getting back up is to destroy it's brain, or sever it's brain from it's body. Severe head trauma and decapitation are the way to go.
