Captain Artair lept from his tree branch. Scurrying quickly down the trunk at such a rate of knots that he fell and landed on his tail. The small red squirrel gave a startled squeak and turned to check that his tail was still neat and tidy. The rest of his brownish red fur was messy, but his tail had to be in pristine condition, it was his pride and joy. He grinned as he realised that it was still perfect, eyes shimmering with pride at his bushy red tail, he gave it a few flicks to check it still worked and began to bound across the ground.

It wasn't long before he stopped short, dumbstruck, a crazed smile playing on his lips. There, not too far from him was a shiny coin. He gave a cheerful warcry and raced at it, rolling over and barreling into it. He grinned at his clutched it in his furry hands.
"Aye, ye still be a handsome devil lad." He grinned at his reflection, his voice that of a broad scottish pirate. He flipped the coin over and began to dig a hole to bury it in.

Perhaps it was this very fine day that Ageni didn't exert her normal reaction to a squirell, that is, to catch it. Or maybe she felt too old and decrepit to wastse energy on catching prey if she wasn't hungry. In fact, for the past several weeks, she hadn't really hunted as much as she used to. In return, it seemed much harder to catch prey with her steadily slowing speed. The bulk of what she caught were rodents such as rats and squirrels, which seem to surpass her own speed sometimes. Thus, when she saw Captain Artair, she didn't sneak upon him like she normally did. Instead, Ageni simply just watch it move briskly after fixing up its tail is a quick, yet refine way.

However, it seemed to be unusual thing indeed when it scurried for a coin. Ageni reconized it as an object humans used back when she was near civilization. Why, there can't be any man here, can there? She sniffed quietly around, only to find no evidence of human kind. Then what is it? Instead of pondering even more, she decided to ask, "I see you have a coin. Do you have any idea where it came from?"

Stupid! Why are you bothering to ask a squirrel? Can it even answer? In all of her years, she never talked to any of her own kinds of prey. There was a time when she was playing around with a mouse after she caught it. By then, however, it was already dead. But with its unusual behavior, perhaps it knew where the coins came from.

ooc - Yo Ho Ho!
Yay! I am back! And now speak some very basic Italian!!!!

ic - A Pirate's Life for Me!
Cap'n was still placing the coin into the ground when he heard someone speak behind him. He was however a very brave (or very foolish squirrel) and though they sounded much larger than himself he continued to bury his new treasure. Once he was satisfied that it was buried sufficently, and only then did he turn, eyeing up the female fox-like creature that stood nearby to him. He studied her for a second and decided that she was of no threat to him physically, but her curiosity about his treasure, well that was another matter all together.

"Why do you wish to know where I get me gold lassie?"He asked, narrowing his dark little eyes, the slight madness glowing in them. " You wouldn't be after me treasure now would ya missy?" He added, narrowing his eyes so that they were almost closed and twitching his nose at her. She wouldn't get his treasure, he was the captain of his ship, him and him alone, and therefore the gold was his. He nodded at his own thought, before realising that the pale animal that stood before him hadn't heard what he had decided in his head.

I know just a little Italian only because my grandma sometimes speaks it. I don't know enough, really, to start up a conversation or anything.

::.::In.Character::So.All.Dreams.Can.Be.Frozen::.::

Normally that tone of voice would have bothered Ageni quite a bit, especially if it came out of the mouth of another fox. Being called 'lassie' or 'missy' wasn't what Ageni liked or was used to. Her mood was almost playful, though her old, monotone voice, wasn't able to really express what she really felt. Finding out that the squirrel could actually talk gave her a relief of actually having an intelligent conversation which would hopefully solve of the mystery of where coin came from.

Though being accused of trying to get the coin, she was somewhat amused by the fact that the squirrel was glowering at her with any means possible. Her expression still remained neutral as she spoke in return. "Of course not. I have no use for your 'treasure.' " She paused as she was about to explain the relationship between coins and mankind. Instead of wasting her breath on explaining in case the Cap'n had no idea, she chose to simply say, "Don't you just think it is a little strange for a coin to just be lying around?"

Ageni shifted her position as she sat, assuming that she might be sitting there for awhile. Her uneven and fluffy fur protruded at every angle of her body, but not in a menacing way. With the combination of the fur and snow, her paws seemed to be hidden.

Yes, I don't know very much Italian, enough to survive though I hope. *grins*

ic - A Pirate's Life for Me!
Artair narrowed his squirrelly eyes at the female fox. So she wasn't interested in treasure? That made her odder than he had suspected, not being interested in gold and other shiny objects was a trait that Cap'n couldn't grasp the concept of. The small mammal had devoted his life to hoarding such shiny, precious objects and top know that others "had no use" for such wonders made him very confused indeed.

She was an odd lassie, much larger than himself, though he was certain that he could beat her should he challenge her to a duel. Duelling was an activity that he frequently took part in, and therefore he had much practice in overpowering animals larger than himself. However the captain did not know that often he only won such duels because the larger animals that he was engaged in battle with would let him beat them. He had a large pride for his strength though and even if told would believe that he had indeed overpowered the other himself.

He found himself warming to the fox though, if she was of no challenge to him or his treasure she could be a useful ally. "Well lassie, if ye not be interested in me treasure then ye be welcome around here. You have much to learn lassie, treasure can be anywhere, absolutely anywhere in the world. Perhaps this piece is old enough to have been buried a long time ago, though it may be a piece I myself have buried before come to think of it..." Cap'n trailed off from his speech. Tail twitching to make his points during his talking and his broad scottish accent blended neatly with his pirate-like banter. Yes, this fox could be a useful ally...

I like your table. Did you make it?

::.::In.Character::So.All.Dreams.Can.Be.Frozen::.::

Ageni respectfully listened to him. She listened to the point in which his voice trailed off. Then, before replying, she scratched behind her ear with her left hind paw. After placing her paw back down, she thought Much to learn, eh? It was peculiar that the squirrel called the coin "treasure." She never really thought of them in that way. In a way, humans seemed to be possesive of it as well. They are just disks of metal. What good are they?

If Ageni possesed such a trait as curiosity, then she'd be already coming up with more questions, such as what exactly would the squirrel do with the coins once he found them? He doesn't worry about mankind and treats the coin as if he often finds coins. In fact, this reassured Ageni a bit in the sense that this is still an isolated area. Perhaps it was inhabited long ago. Thus, leaving traces such as coins.

Or perhaps it was that it was just one or two people that had a "treasure" chest or something of the kind and hid it somewhere. Just then, Ageni shook her head. Getting caught up in this pirate-slang, I'm sure of it. After doubting her own thoughts, time came when she replied, "Then I take it that you collect these coins. Way to state the obvious. "Suppose there might be an entire hoard of coins somewhere?" she brought herself to ask one of her thoughts.

ooc - Yo Ho Ho!
Nope, the super duper Silver made my table for me. I can make tables but nothing of this standard really.

ic - A Pirate's Life for Me!
Artair listened to the pale fox with curiosity. His head was turned onto one side as if contemplating her words and his long, fluffy tail kept twitching with intrest as she spoke. The wind ruffled his red fur and he twitched his ears. She was indeed an odd creature, Cap'n wondered how long she had managed to survive without treasure or any of the suchlike.

In Artair's world, everyone loved treasure as much as he did, they cherished the shiny-ness of such metal coins and other objects. In Cap'n's world he was captain of his pirates though. Sadly at the moment Cap'n had a crew of one, himself. Though the red squirrel had resigned himself to the belief that his crew would coem to him should he need one, they would gather around him and follow him to the ends of the earth. He contemplated going back to that house he had stayed in for a while, to find his otter crewmate, once his best and most trusted friend. The small mammal shook that thought from his head as he realised that he couldn't remember the way back and had forgotten to draw himself a map.

"Aye lassie, but I don't just collect them. These coins are more that just a possesion, they be a way of life, the pirate's life to be exact." Cap'n nodded, a smile on his lips. "Aye there be hoardes of coins also, I have a large collection of treasure meself." He added, once again his tail twitching to exagerate his points.

I made mine. Its okay, i suppose. I like shiny layouts like yours though.

::.::In.Character::So.All.Dreams.Can.Be.Frozen::.::

Pirates life, eh? Back in the zoo days, she heard much about that. Obviously, there was something pirate-related next to the area she was kept in. There would be people talking about various things about what was nearby. If it weren't for that, Ageni would be completely mistified by what the squirrel says. She wouldn't be saying simple replies and little questions and would, instead, be asking way more that her normal character would be. Or maybe she would be so caught up in thinking, she wouldn't say a thing.

By just proclaiming what he lived his life for, Ageni nodded after the squirrel spoke. She still didn't get how one can just dedicate their lives for collecting metal discs. Shiny metal discs, that is. Either there really are animals just like the squirrel, saying that they live a pirate life, or the squirrel is just making up things. Either way, Ageni acknowledged him as someone different. Not just from her, but from other squirrels. She was certain that all of her prey didn't act this way.

"I imagine that you do, since you have been collecting these all your life."At this point, Ageni couldn't think of another question that would feed her curiosity. At this point of her long life, she accepted a few facts and move on with life. Living a simple life would be a nice change from what she went through long ago.

ooc - Yo Ho Ho!
Ack! Tired, post may make no sense.

ic - A Pirate's Life for Me!
Cap'n grinned at the lady fox. She was getting it now, that was how he lived his life and that was the way he liked it. He had no care for what others did, unless they shared his intrests of piracy, duelling and gold. He loved his shiny objects dearly, he supposed they reminded him of his homeland, Scotland, where his obbsession had first began. Cap'n was also reminded of his best friend, and fellow captain whenever he looked at gold, he loved his best friend dearly, though couldn't remember where he was still imprisoned in order to go and rescue him. "Aye lassie, I live the pirate's life, though I a,m now looking for a crew..." Cap'n tailed off, true he was looking for some fellow pirates, though he wasn't sure if the lady fox would be interested.

He wondered what it would be like to be on a ship again, the gentle rocking had been soothing to the small, red animal. He had enjoyed ship life more than he had expected to, often he wondered about stowing away on another ship and having more adventures. Perhaps he could get a crew together and commendeer a ship, though he did like this forest area that he had come upon, he would stay here for a while.

Sorry it took awhile to post. I was rather busy during the break and now that I have a boyfriend.

edit: oh wow. sorry for the short post >.<

::.::In.Character::So.All.Dreams.Can.Be.Frozen::.::

She started the conversation having the dislike of being called "lassie," though it was a lot better than being called "fuzz butt". By now, she learned to deal with it. Being part of the squirrel's crew would mean looking for more of those coins. Though the coins did remind her of her zoo days, she would just try thinking of it as a good thing. After all, if she hadn't been there, she would have never met her first love, Kenesui.

Througout this conversation, Ageni had an emoitionless, monotone manner in her expression and in her vioce. But now, she smiled. Her smile was thin and she didn't bare her teeth as she did this. "If you had a crew, what exactly do you plan to do?"
