First off, I have zero knowledge or experience working with video.

If we wanted an OP/ED sequence, how would we go about making it? Anyone have any video editing/creating experience? An opening video might be a nice introduction, and a teaser for the folks who have doubts about getting the game...we could upload it on Youtube etc for our viral marketing of a free product.

I doubt we'll need a professional job like Gadget Trial's OP, some pictures and words moving about to nice music would suffice. With that being said, some people can do miracles with just that.

Wonder if someone could produce something similar? Or is it too much to ask? If you've done anything in that vein (pure CG/still video), feel free to post it here!

I'm no expert but the first thing would have to be pictures followed closely by either music or a game.
Objectives are nice, so are priorities.

Well, it struck me that we should try to find out what people can or cannot do, before asking the artists to produce material that may or may not be useful. Feasibility analysis goes before objective setting.

Still, if we could do something like that one Slowpoke posted, or even like Gadget Trial... damn. Something like that, posted up before the game is actually released, would be great marketing. Is there anyone here who knows anything about video editing like that? Of course, we'd need some good music to go along with it, that would probably have to be origional. Nothing as epic as that Tsukihime one, of course; something more suitible for our genre.

Feasibly we would use the same graphics as the artists would produce for the game anyway to save time and effort.
As noone has yet to see fit to coordination the work on character art submission, I dare say this thing to be a bit rushed.
I've done animation before and assure you apart from the 2 houres that go into producing anything decent for the lenght of 30 seconds theres nothing to it.

EDIT: I might as well do it if the demo comes out sometime in summer, but as things stand i'm too preoccupied. Think character graphics in diferent poses, backgrounds and we can add tidbits if need be. Its really about the music, the more upbeat the more movement, the more the graphics will need to change(slow tunes are just fade in/ fade out). Honestly the game's graphics will do just fine.

I have absolutely no experience in videos myself, except for a bit of fooling around in Flash. HOWEVER I have someone who's actual job is in making video games. He's an animator. IF (and that is a very big if) I could get him involved in maybe doing some animation or something, that'd be pretty awesome. Problem is...he kind of made fun of me when I told him about my involvement in this.... Well, I''ll wait till stuff like this is more decided before I try asking him for some help.

I can do editing, no art, but editing, in fact, I've started working on something already, I need some more raw material though, so artists need to REALLY ramp up on art, no matter the type, hell, it doesn't even have to be finished... just some pictures I can crop and have flying across the screen....

EDIT: ah, I hadn't taken a look at those op's / ed's you guys were talking about,

believe me when I say those aren't as hard as they look, the hardest part is the actually making the art, the rest is basic motion paint, I have some decent rotoscoping skills, so it shouldn't be too hard to have the special effects put in

I'm working on it right now, hopefully I'll have a rough animatic in a week or two, depending on how my schedule builds up...

Just to defend artists... but we can't really be producing art yet when we don't even know what we're really supposed to be drawing. As it is, no artist has been definitively decided on to do what, and even if what they create will be correct. It's a tough call to ask someone to do something, they spend quite some time and effort on it....and then it, or them, are not even used in the end.

For this reason, there have only really been a few concept sketches, and artists showing what they can do with the characters in their style.

If someone writes a short, sweet, and sad little song for the OP/ED, I'd be happy to provide the vocals, English or Japanese. happy.gif

We could just use those and have a 'teaser' trailer for our game?

As far as the op/end thing, I was thinking something like Gadget Trial like mentioned above. It's not super fancy. Just stills moving across the screen with some effects thrown in and some music. Of course ours probably won't be so upbeat and happy.

Your making me like you way too much, stop it.

Moving on, we really don't need to think OP/Ed untill we get someone in music to write a theme song or something in that direction.
I propose: contest!

Wow, intensity!

I'd like to throw in my support for the teaser trailer. I'm not sure i could do a video myself, but I could help with music.

I also wonder what exactly we have to tease about. We don't exactly have a lot of plot to give away. Or would that be a good thing?
