I can create some of the music, if I can get a music making program
I currently have Cakewalk and Reason, but I have no idea how to use them |

What kind of music?
I don't know. I've been sticking around the music field for 12 years, but I'm only in Music Theory AP (1st music class besides 4 years of orchestra so far) So probably pianos, violins, flutes, simple background music stuff I don't think I'll be able to pull anything like tori no uta out of my ass, but maybe I could do the generic backgrounds? |

Well, if you're looking to maybe make some samples, look at this thread
http://z8.invisionfree.com/Zettai_Shojou/i...p?showtopic=210 It's a list of possible themes for each character. |

To be honest I looked at the thread and didn't like anything I saw
Playing Madokashi no Sekai ~~ from NHK as background music? What the frigging hell, when I'm reading a visual novel I want BACKGROUND music, not some repeating 4 minutes of JPOP |

Actually, it's the slow piano-only version. Go ahead and download and listen to it. Anyway, feel free to make your own suggestions on the character themes. Looking at them now, I'm starting to have doubts on a couple of them too. |

Get the Higurashi...Kai Ost. That's a good example of semi-orchestrated BGM.
If you want to do "good" orchestration, you really need something like Cubase or Halion. I have SL3 and another 27 activations of Halion, so I've got you covered there. If you can come up with a melody, I might be able to sort you out for compiling etc |

I suppose I should elaborate.
I am a sound/recording engineer. I *don't* do synth stuff usually, however I do have the software to do so. All i need is a midi file, or even just a score, and I can make it happen. Also, I can do basic harmonisation/orchestration. I can record pretty much anything, and have access (so long as this stays in the "amateur" realm) to a Euphonix console and a bucketload of outboard gear for mixdowns. If we wanted to record music (as opposed to synth), then I can co-ordinate amongst people, give pointers etc (hell, I'll mail you mics and such), then mix it down properly. I also have a few friends that I might be able to pester for favours to "fill in the gaps". Even without the Euphonix, I have my own mix suite at home. |

That sounds awesome and it's great that we can get someone with your expertise on the project. I think we should discuss music before it actually becomes a real issue.

well, meowshi and I can bash away at a couple of things. it would be interesting. If other people know people that play specific instruments etc htey should contact us and we might be able to do stuff
Or if there's any other composers, that would be cool. I'm also interested in the scenario, but I need a bit more time to get my head around that. Also, the music might blow out to be a big issue... Meh, I'm sure I'll work somethign out. The music really interests me. Come to think of it, I might even know a dude that sings jap quite well.. although he's slightly more overseas than may be useful... *cpl_crud ponders... |

Damn i almost missed this thread.
Ive been off diddling in school work. As ive stated and linked to before, i am a composer, cpl_crud. Ive mentioned before i wanted to get an e-team of musicians/sonic designers/recording engineers together for this project when the music is needed. My Main Music Page Edit: Alright, re-read this thread. So, when can I expect my Mic? We do need to organize a a music team. The sooner the better. |

I'm more than wiling to take lead of a music team. Only problem is that I'm aussie based. Whilst some mics can be posted, you'll have ot supply your own pres. I'll take a look at your music; as I've told meowshi, the best thing for me would be a midi score; from which I can work an orchestration/variations (of course, the less work like that I have to do hte better As for recording, anyone local; I'm there. For the OS people, I should be able ot lend mics; we can split postage I guess. I would also like some form of "deposit" as a symbol of trust; maybe into a "neutral" paypal account (ie, made for this purpose, when I get hte mic returned, I give you the password to the account). I'd need to know what you play etc as well in order to guide you as to proper technique, but, as I said, I'm more than willing to do this. Also, this might be a good chance for musos to buy some "good" gear for themselves under advice, as opposed to jsut going out and buying Behringer shite. So yeah, with the permission of the dark overlords of this project, I'll start acting as a music co-ord. Should this go ahead, I'd request a "private' forum for the music people, to which I can give/revoke access; maybe like a group mod or smth? What's everyone think? PS: some of my work: http://www.windfs.com/forums/index.php?sho...view=getnewpost EDIT Oh cool you're another Cubase fan. That will make things *really* easy. Whilst techno-ish, your stuff is sounding pretty good for BGM. I've always wanted to do a "sublte" belnding of techno and orchestral; like writing a techno scroe, then orchestrating it. That could be really cool. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to this. Also, even if they reject us form the project; I'm all for starting a collaborative in order to make soem shii-dee. |

Ill drop you an email as soon as possible today. sometime after i eat. Its a shame we are 14 hours apart in daily schedules. I don't really need a mic. I don't play anything asides the piano, and for that i just score on the computer. Besides, being in the Sonic Design program here in school lets me have access to all sorts of recording opportunities. That includes access to macs running pro-tools and the latest cubase and what not. Although, im far more comfortable on my little laptop here for music. We will need to organize on our section of a forum for collaboration to take place. Not to mention file hosting for uploading project files and samples and what not. I do dabble in more than just electronic based stuff. At least i am able to. I really enjoy electronic music, making it is a passion. I do agree its not the most traditional stuff for these types of games. Im all for collabs as well. I really want to delve into more electro-acoustic music. I can be reached her at: w.rowe@sympatico.ca. |

Whoa! Another Canadalandman! Anyway, I can't help but notice that crud is part of a fansub/game translation group. What would you think of a Japanese translation of this game? For starters, what are some good ideas for individual character themes? I know my list is a little outdated but I've got a better idea of who the characters are. I'll give my ideas after someone posts their ideas on this thread. |
