Fiona loved the Courtyard. She loved the stone benches placed around the permieter, she loved the stone fountain in the center with its gargoyles--both frightening-looking and beautiful at the same time, however that was possible. She loved everything about the courtyard, at every time of day, but she loved it most when it was empty. Dropping her bag on the grass, Fiona plopped down on one of the stone benches. The courtyard was so rarely empty that when it was, it felt like a treat, like she'd done something particularly well and was being rewarded with a few moments alone to enjoy her favorite spot in the castle. She sighed, leaning her head back and closing her eyes, trying to relax.

Her mind soon wandered, as it usually did these days, to a certain person. She suddenly grinned to herself, even as she realized she was probably being stupid. She barely knew this guy, really, but she turned into a puddle every time she saw him. Stupid. Incredibly stupid, and yet she didn't really mind it that much. Nevermind that he probably didn't think about her, ever. That wasn't the point. The point was... all right, she didn't know what the point was. Still, she was enjoying this sensation, as stupid as she was being. It didn't matter anyway, probably.

The blonde picks up her bag again and sets it on one end of the stone bench. She turned to the side and swung her legs up on to the bench, then lay back, using her bag as a pillow. She crossed one leg over the other and settled there, as best she could, on the hard stone, staring at the sky. There was probably something that she needed to be doing, or somewhere she needed to be, but she really didn't care for the moment. She was comfortable--in a weird sort of way, at least--she was content, and she really didn't want to move. After awhile, her back was going to ache and leg was going to go numb from this position, but for now, she was quite happy lying right there. She could stay there for the rest of the day, assuming no one came into the courtyard, which wasn't very likely. It was a miracle no one had come out while she'd been sitting there, thinking about stupid, stupid, wonderful things.

There wasn't a whole lot about the outdoors that Isolde didn't love. Scorching heat? Time for shorts and swimming. Biting cold? Time for cute coats and snowball fights. At the moment however, it was fall and therefore a perfect temperature for a nice sweater, falling leaves and just wandering around the grounds. Today she found herself with an everwarming mug of cider, stepping into the courtyard. There were a few people milling about, but it seemed like she was in the minority of people wanting to experience the beautiful weather. It was perfect, not hot, not cold, just a gentle cool breeze carrying the smell of nature through Isolde's nostrils and filling her with a sense of warm hominess in the open air. This was where she was happy, definitely not trapped in the the stuffiness of the castle. Here she was free.

As she took a glance around the courtyard, she grinned upon seeing Fiona. There weren't many people that Isolde could say that she genuinely liked, but the younger badger was one of them. The girl was smart, ambitious, and level-headed, never one to get caught up in something silly like boys. Why anyone would throw themselves all over a boy was beyond the brunette, who was thankful that she suffered her life's great heartbreak at fourteen. She'd only spent a short amount of time pining after a boy before she realized that men were scum, only looking to play games with women before ripping out their heart an stomping on it. Now that she was free of something useless, like love, she could focus on the better things in her life, like dresses and quidditch.

She quickly walked, skipping-walking at times, over to Fiona, who seemed to be staring up at the sky, possibly contemplating. For a moment, she wondered if perhaps the blonde was thinking about something important, and Isolde's appearance would be considered and annoyance or an interruption. However, Fi has always been nothing but nice to her, and if she wanted her to be gone, then surely she could find the most polite way to ask her to leave. On the other hand, perhaps her housemate would appreciate having someone to talk to about whatever was on her mind. Either way, Isolde had made her way over, and quickly sat down on the stone bench next to Fiona's feet. "So," she started cheerfully, "what're you thinking about?"
